I’ve never read a James Patterson book, but I’m hooked now. I love books that give a behind the scenes glimpse of the workings of the White House and the president. I also loved the television show West Wing so if you are a fan of this type of story you will love this book.
I immediately loved the depth of character the authors gave you of President Duncan and his staff, and I was drawn in from the first page and couldn’t put the book down. I mean how can you not be pulled in when you learn one of the president’s six closest advisors is a traitor that is working our enemies to destroy the country?
If you want a action-packed read, with a president who has courage and integrity, I highly recommend this book.
This was a decent procedural, but I wouldn’t recommend anything Bill (or Hillary) wrote.
Thought provoking.
I would give this book a 6 out of 5. Patterson and the former President make a dynamic writing duo. I can’t wait to read their second book together. It’s a very interesting story that isn’t hard to imagine in these scary political times,
So what parts were written by Bill Clinton and what by James Patterson? That went through my head while reading this hopefully unrealistic book!
It kept my interest and was a fast read…I would recommend it!
Best book read in years…. couldn’t put it down
From the perspective of a President which gives you a totally unique view of events. Liked it a lot.
Did not expect to enjoy it, but I did.
I love everything James Patterson, plus this one had some insight behind the curtains of the White House and president’s day to day.
I found the book hard to put down. At the same time, I know it describes truthfully how vulnerable our country is to the kind of attack described in the book. I just hadn’t thought about how all pervasive such an attack would be. So I both wanted to keep reading as well as to stop so that the terror would stop.
I have two reviews of this book.
The first review is for all of the book up to but NOT including the epilogue. It was what I have come to expect from Patterson especially after he has been wonderfully informed by Clinton with details that only a White House insider could have provided. It was a good mixture of background details only available to a president with a wild, believable thriller.
The second review is for the epilogue. It is plainly and simply a statement of the platform of the Democrat party. It took a lot away from the book and added nothing that could not be picked up on CNN in any hour. Ayn Rand expressed her political beliefs in her books and took away from the book in the same way. Come on, folks, give me a good book or give me a political statement but don’t try to combine them — it screws up both.
I did not like this book. While I enjoy James Patterson Alex Cross series, I found this tedious. I did not even finish it. I rarely give poor reviews, but totally necessary with this book.
Excellent. Page turning. Could not put it down!
Interesting premise, but the collaboration between the two authors made for clunkiness. The book is too long, and it can’t make up its mind whether to be a political thriller or a political treatise. The last chapter, especially, reads like nonfiction.
Excellent This book would make a great movie
Enjoyed the book. Took me a bit of time to get into it, but once it sucked me in I was hooked!
Couldn’t put it down. Kind of makes you think about why is possible with the internet
The Presidents speech at the end was timely and inspiring.
Was skeptical because of B Clinron. Know he is super smart, just don’t like his ethics. But was definitely worth the time to read. Very good.
Fast paced from start to finish
