This book contained everything that I search for in a story. It
“The President Is Missing” a collaboration by Bill Clinton, James Patterson, and David Ellis, is a contemporary political thriller with everything a reader would expect from this powerhouse-writing team. The first person narrative by the President of the United States is interspersed with other points of view that give a different angle to events and help bring out all the unsavory details of the story and its participants.
“The President Is Missing” is a quick read. The chapters are short, many only a page or two. Abundant insider details make the plot relevant and rich in complexity and moral challenges. The action is non-stop, taking place in just over a one-week span, and is filled with action, conspiracy, political mischief, and treachery.
Because of the partnership of Clinton and Patterson, readers cannot help but visualize Bill Clinton as President Jonathan Lincoln Duncan. In fact, some readers have pointed out that Duncan is precisely an improved version of Clinton. The challenge for readers, then, is to picture another president as President Duncan. How do impressions, feelings and opinions change if one pictures t Duncan as Bush? As Obama? As Trump? That change in viewpoint might just change one’s perception of the book as well.
The President is Missing is a compelling, intelligent, and taut thriller. Jonathan Duncan’s point-of-view truly represented a man worthy of the office of President. The twists and turns delivered a most satisfying conclusion. Most excellently written, gentlemen!
This book was a real page-turner. Very easy to read. It, frankly, scared me because the premise of the book is so realistic and I can see it happening. Really woke me up to how we take our digital world for granted.
Highly recommend!
Made me think of what a president could go through. It’s would not be a bed of roses.
I couldn’t put it down. I can see this happening in real life.
The book was entertaining but I could have done without the political proselytizing.
Forget politics. It does have to do with Washington DC but it’s neither liberal or conservative but does draw some good parallels to possibilities of a new kind of war.
I found this very interesting, life in Washington DC
It is always difficult to rate a Patterson book no matter who the co-author is. If you like Patterson you will like this. I can’t say it is exceptional but it is a good, quick escapist read.
Who’d a thunk?
I found the premise a little frightening. My mind ran away with how this could really happen.
Your mind will be blown in 3…2…1… this story itself could be non-fiction at any given moment. With the writing experience of Patterson and the insider knowledge of former POTUS Clinton this one has it all. Pick it up!!!
Wow! Very believable. Great book!!
Easily read, a spy procedural like any other by Patterson. One could hear Clinton reminiscing about the days when he was younger, smarter, had served in war. (Yes, I know,) Not worth the full price but fine as a BookBub buy.
I’m not a big fan of Bill Clinton, but I gotta say, he and James Patterson did a bang up job with this story. It’s a nail-biter about a serious subject – cyberterrorism – that will keep you wondering who knew what and when did they know it. But I have to warn you, it’s hard to put it down, so don’t go starting it when you’ve only got five minutes before you have to leave for work. Trust me, you’ll be late. REAL late!
Very entertaining with interesting and well developed characters. Will hold your interest throughout the entire novel.
I could not put this book down
Interesting, entertaining but not great.
Didn’t like it at all.
