Marry the political savvy of Bill Clinton with the craftsmanship of James Patterson and you get a fabulously entertaining thriller that is meticulous in its portrayal of Washington politics, gripping in its pacing, and harrowing in its depiction of the perils of cyberwarfare. This dark tale is, at bottom, a warning and a prophecy about the mortal threats to our democracy posed by terrorists abroad, homegrown extremism, and the technological miracles that have rendered us both powerful and defenseless at once.
This book moves like Air Force One. Big and fast. Clinton and Patterson are a dream combo. Two great storytellers, one inside and one outside, both at the top of the game. They’ve put together an undeniably gripping ride through the hidden passageways of power and politics. This book teaches as much as it entertains.
Compelling from page one. A fantastic read!
The President Is Missing is a big, splashy juggernaut of a novel, combining thrills with a truly authentic look at the inner happenings in Washington. I read it in one gulp. You will too.
The President Is Missing ticks every box for top-notch thriller writing: A relentlessly fast plot, utterly unexpected reversals and twists, a compelling — and a thoroughly human — hero, and a searing and honest examination of issues that strike close to our hearts as Americans in this day and age. Bravo, James Patterson and Bill Clinton!
Great book. Clinton & Patterson make a great team. Very hard to put book down. Had to keep reading. I’ve read all of Patterson’s books and adding Clinton’s knowledge made this book fabulous. Do it again guys!!!
Wonderful book. Hard to put down. Highly recommend
This is the best book I have read in years. It grabbed me on page one and didn’t t let go. The characters were rich, well developed and strong. I loved how the narrative was tightly laced to our current political times and how it offered insight to what needs to be done to rescue the American Dream. Absolutely loved the work.
This book was co-authored by President Clinton and James Patterson and was surprisingly smooth in it’s execution. While it is fiction, the premise isn’t all that farfetched. I thoroughly enjoyed it and think it’s worthwhile reading for every American citizen.
For fans of techno-thrillers (not usually me), this is edge-of-your-seat stuff, and the scenario is all too probable. I admit that I skimmed some of the technical details, but the twists and turns kept me going to the end. Clinton’s voice is very much present in this book, and it will make you nostalgic for the times when we had intelligent people running the country.
Very strong plot. Loved the book. Finished quickly. Enjoy.
This was indeed an edge of your seat, realistic, unpredictable read! Having heard that Pres Clinton provides the realistic detail I was impressed. And the cybercrime really made me stop and think about just how dependent we are on tech. It took me a bit to wade they all the scene setting, but sticking with it was a good thing. It was unsettling to see how the country really could be brought down!! And the villains!!! Overall, I enjoyed the read.
Excellent! One can see Bill Clinton’s political influence, which was an eye opener of how the US government functions. But it is James Paterson’s plot development and story line is very evident. I enjoyed this book immensely.
totally stupid-waste of money & time
Loved this book. A real page turner. But very scary to think something like this could really happen.
Great book that keeps you guessing until the end. Action packed, new threats at every turn of the page. Hard to put down!
I would give it 3.5 stars. Too much Clinton and not enough Patterson.
Fun. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I try to sum up my feeling for The President Is Missing. Yes, it’s a thriller. Yes, it’s about national security and modern day perils to it – and, in that sense, terrifying. Still, this was a fun one to read. But then, my appreciation was far more about method than plot.
I’m not a regular reader of James Patterson’s work, but I admire his skill. And I can see good in Bill Clinton (sorry, all you Clinton haters, but he did know how to reach across the aisle); he certainly knows the inner workings of the White House. Each time I picked up this book, I imagined these two men collaborating, with Clinton contributing plot details while Patterson worked his magic with pacing and words.
And it is magic. The plot gets complex at times, but it is believable , even portentous, and it moves right along, as per the Patterson style of short chapters with cliff-hanger endings. The characters are nuanced, made human by families and the kinds of feelings we mortals all have. Thanks to Patterson’s skill with words, their suffering is understated but palpable, their victories understated but heartfelt.
So, fun. Yup. Do you agree?
This held my interest because it is possible that this could happen. I liked the last chapter how the President spoke to Congress and everyone there saying “We can do better etc.” ; I don’t want to write the whole speech because I want people to read or listen to this on their own. I did listen to this on audio book and they did a great job.
I finally found this book at the library. It was definitely worth the wait. The characters and concept had me mesmerized from the moment I started reading it. A great story and very informative. I wouldn’t mind another collaboration between Clinton and Patterson.
