Ten years ago, I married my brother’s best friend. I haven’t seen him since. Until now …Charlotte Spencer grew up on the blue-blooded Upper East Side of Manhattan but she never wanted the sit-still-look-pretty future her parents dictated for her. Enter Colin Walsh, her brother’s quiet, brooding best friend, and with him a chance to pursue her dreams. One courthouse wedding later, Charlotte’s … courthouse wedding later, Charlotte’s inheritance is hers to start a business in San Francisco and Irish-born Colin has a Green Card.
Ten years later, they’re happily married. On different coasts. With separate lives. In fact, she hasn’t even seen Colin in a decade, and that’s just fine by her.
But fate throws her a curveball when her husband calls her back to New York, and she realize the boy she’s married is long gone. In his place is a shockingly appealing man … who wants a divorce. The problem? The terms of their prenup arrangement state that before either can file for separation, they have to live under the same roof for three months.
Now, in order to get divorced, they have to pretend to be married. For real …

I loved this sexy, smart romcom with a slow burn that was delicious! Layne does it again!
This was my first Lauren Layne book, and I loved it! The Prenup is a fun, fast-paced romance packed with witty banter. I’m looking forward to reading more of Ms. Layne’s work.
This was so good! Laurent Layne does characters and pacing so well. I love that she keeps the plot moving and holds my interest. I connect with her characters almost immediately. I wanted a little more interaction between the characters because there lack of interaction was frustrating. Lauren Layne is one of my favorite authors and I just feel like I needed a smidge more… something in order to believe they were falling in love.
Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite romance tropes and Lauren Layne did a great job in writing an engaging, believable, contemporary marriage of convenience. I love Charlotte! She’s sassy, independent, and energetic. Having her as a narrator made for a fun story as I got to read her thoughts and commentary as she navigated living with Colin for the first time in their 10 year marriage. I appreciated the message of forgiveness and opening your heart that this book revolves around. Also, Colin being a brooding, Irish hero did not hurt things in the least. The Prenup by Lauren Layne was a fun, light hearted read that I quite enjoyed and recommend to other marriage of convenience fans.
What a lovely story! by Happy Girl
I loved this story!
I loved both characters! Charlotte is charming, witty, and lively.
Colin is brooding, sexy, and the less talkative man she knows!
There is a green card, and an inheritance involved, and after ten years he asks for a divorce.
They didn’t know each other, but now, they had to live together for three months.
You will love Charlotte that tries to know her soon to be ex-husband, you’ll love Colin also because he’s a gentleman.
You see him coming out of his shell… Then something unexpected happens, and Charlotte realizes that she fell in love…
I won’t spoil the story apart by saying there’s a HEA… thanking God!
I ended this book with a smile on my face and joy in my heart; I was charmed and intrigued and … would you believe?! no sexy scenes!!!
Really enjoyed this one! Lots going on here…teenage rebellion against parents, marriage of convenience, striking out on your own, proving yourself by becoming successful, returning home to rectify past issues, falling in love, learning love may mean letting go….whew!!! It has it all!
Loved Charlotte’s and Colin’s banter and their less-than-perfect slide into love. I also loved that this one was not about the sex (as so many contemporaries are). It was about getting to know someone, someone who is pretty much your polar opposite, and learning to appreciate them as a unique person. THEN having that appreciation deepen into love. Refreshing.
This was my first Layne. I will definitely read more.
I love Lauren Layne so reading this was a no-brainer. And I fully expected to enjoy it as I have her other works.
I more than enjoyed this. This was such a fun, entertaining story! I loved that it was told from Charlotte’s point of view. Lauren did a fantastic job of capturing her voice. I felt like I could’ve been listening to a friend of mine tell this story over drinks one night.
All the characters were wonderful. I loved Colin and his quiet, restrained manner. Kurt and Lewis were excellent. The relationship between Charlotte and her parents, particularly her mother, was so realistic.
I just adored the whole thing and it left me feeling good about life and the world! I’d 100% recommend this to everyone!
I enjoyed this book. I literally completed it in less than 24 hours. I genuinely laughed till my stomach hurt at some points and could really feel Charlotte’s pain at other points. I felt like I experienced her growth first hand as the story progressed. I also really enjoyed the epilogues and author’s note at the end. It added a really nice touch. My only complaint, is that there was not enough depth to Colin’s character. I literally waited to really see him blossom but he never did. It was easy to see when and how Charlotte fell for Colin, but hard to see how and when he fell for her. It felt like there was a huge gap there. I also wished that they’d been together for a longer portion of the book. Nevertheless, it was a good book and I’d still recommend it.
Loved this book!
I just adore Lauren Layne. If you’re a fan of romantic comedy, I highly recommend her. The Prenup was a great spin on a marriage of convenience story. A highly entertaining sweet read for romcom lovers!!
I couldn’t put this down until I reached the absolute and most perfectly satisfying conclusion. A marriage of convenience that now must be terminated. Sounds easy enough. But their never-carefully-read prenup contained one tiny problematic detail: namely, that they had to live together for at least three months before divorcing. Of cause you know where this is going, but Lauren Layne does a fabulous job getting us there, and I loved every page.
A wonderful twist on the Marriage of Convenience trope!
Lauren Layne’s voice sparkles in The Prenup. With its sharp humor, easy banter and toe-curling sexual tension, The Prenup is the ultimate LL experience.
I loved this story! Yes, it was a different storyline: marriage of convenience….with a modern twist.
I loved how Colin and Charlotte initially married; but, I loved how they came back together. One of my GR friends and had said it reminded her of the movie The Proposal and it soooo did but on a grander more epic love story scale!
I literally did not want to put it down….I blocked out an entire conversation my husband was having with me because I was so focused on the story.
This is a book that will I plan to purchase the PB for to have on my shelf and hopefully (one day) have Ms. Layne sign.
PS…..I so would have followed Colin to Dublin
beautifully written book.
This is my first book of Lauren Layne and and won’t be the last! They way she’d written The Prenup, it’s superb! How she narrates Charlotte’s story is well delivered and clear…precise! Can you imagine Colin’s POV, I’m dying to know!
Charlotte and Colin, what can I say… married for convenience after 10 years being apart Colin wants a divorce. From then, it all become complicated and that’s how their journey begins…
Unexpected, Lighthearted, Witty and Beautifully Delightful
