A bitter feud. A burning love. And cats.Kathleen Caplin hopes the annual CatFest convention in Denver will be her big break. Her Persian cat, Juliet “Cat”ulet, is an invited guest thanks to the million-plus rabid social media followers who adore Juliet’s satin medieval dresses, the balcony settings Kathleen creates, and her Shakespearean-themed posts. If those same fans vote for Juliet as the … fans vote for Juliet as the Best Newcomer at CatFest, then Purina wants to talk sponsorship, and Kathleen can finally focus on building a business around Juliet’s success.
But there’s stiff competition: another Persian cat called Romeo “Meow”tague. Romeo’s anonymous owner copy-catted Kathleen’s Shakespearean theme to build a massive following for himself. Although the loathsome man is clearly gunning for the sponsorship, Kathleen aims to win.
For Joe Davis, CatFest is a means to an end. He wants out of office cube-land, and he can do it if his cat, Romeo, wins Best Newcomer and the Purina sponsorship. But then he meets her at the convention—Kathleen—the woman who teaches the torches to burn bright. After falling in love over the course of one magical night out on the town, Joe knows he’s finally found the woman of his dreams . . . Until he realizes the woman of his dreams is also the despicable owner of Juliet of the house of Catulet.
Can Joe convince Kathleen that his only love sprung from his only hate? Or will there instead be a plague o’ both their houses?

I tend to lose interest if a series “drags on”. That is NOT the case with this series. The first thing I do when one of these books drop, is download to my Kindle, iPhone and iPad – I need all my devices at the ready, incase I get the chance to read.
Technically, each book is a stand alone but I highly recommend starting with book one. It is so gratifying to have previous characters pop up in the current book. It’s not repetitive in the least, it’s like suddenly running into old friends. The romance side is great and the pets bring such humor and heart to each story. At the very start, I paused to Google Silver Chinchilla Persian. The pictures are exactly as described and MAN did I want to snuggle one! I started reading on June 19th and the story begins on June 21! How cool is it that the timeline almost fits the real world? I was tempted to hold the book and start it on the 21st. The temptation lasted 2 seconds. I decided to read slowly so I would finish on the 21st.
I can’t wait for the Conundrum Of Border Collies in September 2020. Of course, I will preorder.
In these rough times of Pandemics and social unrest, I especially appreciate theses light hearted escapes. I am so happy that Aimee provides that for us and I’m glad she’s continuing to provide this balm to our lives.
This was a fun story and I actually laughed out loud a few times. This is the third or fourth book I have read in this series. They are all standalone but if you have read the others there are a few rare appearances from characters from other books in the series. The main character, Kathleen, has a website about her cat, Juliet. She takes Juliet to a Cat Convention in the hopes of getting a sponsorship for her cat. There is a problem, a copycat cat named Romeo is also getting a lot of attention and the main character has a strong dislike for Romeo and his owner based off their interactions on the internet. Joe, Romeo’s owner, starts falling for Kathleen before he realizes she is Juliet’s owner. Now Joe has to figure out how to let Kathleen know without her hating him. This was a fun and entertaining read.
This is a wonderful series that just keeps getting better! This is a fun story taking place at CatFest. Kathleen needs to win to get her brother out of her house and on his own. She also wants to cut down on her hairdressing hours. Joe wants to win to quit his job and spend time on his boat. Both of the beautiful Persians are attracted to each other. They make a cute Romeo and Juliet. Who will win? A must read! I love the recurring Love & Pets van along with Travis and Amelia in each story!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Although I follow raccoons, goats, possums and hedgehogs on SM, famous cats haven’t made it into my feed. Maybe that’s a good thing, because I had no prior expectations, making this book a wonderful, fresh read for me. I loved every minute and hung on every word. It’s like I was an attendee at the Cat Fest conference with a front row seat to the feuding Catulets and Meowtigues. Yep, this one is strong with the Shakespearean theme, and it completely captivated me. Or ‘cat’ivated me.
Kathleen and Joe both have famous cats. Hers is Juliet and his is Romeo, and the online rivalry, complete with period cat costumes, is fierce. And both cats are up for the coveted Best Newcomer award and an endorsement deal with a major pet food company. Kathleen doesn’t know Romeo’s owner, but she plans to find him and give him a piece of her mind for copying Juliet and riding her cattails to fame. In the meantime, she meets Joe, not knowing who he is, and they fall for each other in the span of one magical evening together.
This book is one delight after another, so cleverly written that I was under it’s spell and flew through the pages. Between Joe’s hidden identity (we all know that never bodes well), the classic romantic tragedy theme, and the shenanigans of the Romeo and Juliet fans, I laughed my way through the book, only to have my heartstrings manipulated by the poignant moments.
I adore every book in this series, but I think this is the best yet, and definitely my favorite. It’s whimsical and witty, magical and clever, and every romance lover will love it. Cat lover or not (and I’m with the ‘not’, due to allergies), this delightful, captivating, comedic nod to The Bard has something for everyone, and you won’t want to miss it!
Romeo and Juliet themed Instagram posts bring these two together and apart.
Star crossed kitties and humans stumble, and quote generously from Shakespeare, as they try to manage romance, fandom and commerce.
Will parting be such sweet sorrow?
Or will they find that being to their own selves true, they cannot them be false to any man?
Humorous love, family and cat adventures
A cute story about Kathleen Caplin who is attending the annual CatFest convention in Denver hoping to win the Best Newcomer Award for her Persian cat Juliet. She is there with her brother James (which I’d like to shake him). She is competing against Romeo another Persian cat owned by Joe Davis. Joe is there with his cousin Boyd. They both have Instagram accounts and have been sparing back and forth. They both dress their cats up in Shakespearean clothes and post pictures on Instagram. As they only show the cats, they don’t know what the other looks like. When Joe sees Kathleen for the first time, he falls head over heals for her. They go out the first night and it is amazing as he celebrates her birthday by a few surprises. When he finds out she is Juliet’s owner, things start to get interesting. By that point he doesn’t want to lose her but knows she can’t stand Romeo’s owner. An enjoyable clean read.
I just LOVE this series; each book is even better than that previous one! If you haven’t read any of the previous books have no fear, just jump in because each book can stand alone. The author does a magnificent job of giving you any info from the previous books that you need.
You will fall in love with the characters and their interactions with their pets. Unlike a lot of books, these pets don’t talk to their parents or even each other. They’re just adorable animals who their parents doit on.
Yes this is a romance series but unlike the others out there, the author has given each book has it’s own great story line which makes for interesting reading that will hook you in and keep you entertained till the very last word.
I received this book as an advanced reader copy but the review and opinions expressed are all my own honest views.
I’ve enjoyed all the Love and Pets books, but I think this is my favorite! Even when I wanted to throttle Joe, I loved the interactions with Kathleen, especially the birthday date night.
A well written, clean romance with witty dialogue and an HEA.
Kathleen takes her media darling Persian cat, Juliet, to the annual Cat Fest in Denver hoping to win the coveted title of Best Newcomer and a sponsorship from Purina. Only one person stands in her way and that is Joe, the owner of Romeo who is quickly catching up to Juliet in social media popularity. The Shakespearean themed cat clothing and references to the great piece of literature that is Romeo and Juliet make this story unique.
I do not want to give away the story, but the main characters are beautiful, charming people. The first date Joe takes Kathleen on is as sweet as any woman could ever hope for from a partner. How does one say no to that? Ms. Henley breathes such fun into her stories that I always feel better after reading one. The secondary characters range from quirky and humorous to maddening and boorish, but their antics are sure to lift your spirits and put a smile on your face. This is another great addition to the Love and Pets series. It’s sweet and clean and purrfect for all readers!
This was a wonderful installment in this series. I loved the Shakespeare theme. It really worked out well. The celebrity cat part on Instagram was a really unique theme. I enjoyed the characters and all of their time together.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A Clean Comedy of Errors to De-stress and Enjoy with your beverage of choice. 😀
The Predicament of Persians is the 5th novel in AG Henley’s Love and Pets series – an upbeat contemporary romantic-comedy series featuring various types of pets and owners in a romance setting. The Predicament of Persians story follows an Enemies to More trope with Kathleen Caplin/FMC, a single woman with a Celebrity Cat named Juliet facing off against Joe Davis/MMC, another Celebrity Cat Instagram account owner at the annual convention for Celebrity Cats in Denver. As the story unfolds the Celebrity fans become unruly, the two cats act out their own agenda, there’s a confusion of identity, and angry sparks fly between Kathleen and Joe. What else could possibly go wrong?
The Predicament of Persians can be read as a standalone novel. Characters from previous books return but in a manner that brings new readers up to speed quickly. I have read and enjoyed 2 of the previous 4 books in the series and intend to read the others soon. The light-hearted books in this series are great for reading at the end of a long day or week. They’ve lifted my heart and made me smile. I recommend the Love and Pets series to readers of romantic comedies, contemporary romance, those who enjoy stories about pets/cats and/or the Enemies to More trope, and those who prefer Pick-Me-Up HEAs. The Predicament of Persians read quickly – a little over 2 hours – I smiled, relaxed, wanted to set Joe straight a time or two – yet everything works out in the end. :). If you enjoy stories with minimal angst where the guy finally wins the girl – I think you’ll like The Predicament of Persians. I could have given this story 5* but as I mentioned, I would have had to settle with Joe first. Just because. And he isn’t around. 😉
Reader Cautions – none. A CLEAN ROMANCE.
Profanity- none.
Violence – G/PG movie level. More humorous than anything else.
Sexual situations – none.
IMO The Predicament of Persians is appropriate for readers 14/15 years and up. It’s a CLEAN romance comedy.
I received a free copy of The Predicament of Persians in exchange for an honest review. All previous books in this series I purchased on my own. I have enjoyed this series.
I love this Love and Pet series by Henley. This is the 4th in the series, and I received an advanced copy from the author. Henley just has a way of describing pets and their often quirky owners! From the laughs at the pets antics, to the odd situations her characters find themselves in, she even manages to get romance in there. In this one, cats and their owners are attending the CatFest featuring CelebreCats (famous cats with huge fan followings from their Instagram accounts) vying for the honor of being top CelebreCat and being sponsored by a Purina. What happens when the top 2 are “Juliet Catulet“ and “Romeo Meowtague”, bitter Instagram rivals, whose owners get attracted to each other before they realize who their cats are!! It’s funny and tragic, just like the Shakespeare play!
A delightful romp through a cat convention in Denver. Kathleen has arrived with her needy brother James and her beautiiful silver chinchilla Persian (white with
black tips on her back), and gorgeous green eyes. She is called Juliet. Joe has arrived with his cousin Boyd, and his delightful black Persian (who has copper colored eyes) named Romeo. What could possibly happen with Romen and Juliet?
You will spend a pre-birthday evening with Kathleen and Joe doing the town.
They have just met in the hotel lounge, and he invites her out. He was drawn to her beautiful and flowing red hair, and she was attracted to his red hair as well.
They step out to be wisked away by a pedicab, to see several attractions and have a nice dinner. He surprises her with a few extras and they have a great evening together. Their journey continues together with the activities at the convention and the contest for “Best Newbie.”
For those who want a bit of fluff without our daily stress. You can relax!
As an ARC reader, I am happy to leave this unsolicited review.
