The Preacher’s Bride by Theresa Oliver is a truly heart warming story of loss, community, the American west and the strength of family and love. These characters will grab you by the heart and burrow their way in and never let go. Oliver truly understands the american western spirit and the strength it took to leave everything to settle in untouched territory. Character development is phenomenal and makes this story so touching I could not put it down. Caleb’s loss and his failure to be able to let go is so well written. For a man of faith loss can be harder to take and his heartache is brillantly portrayed. Mia is an amazingly strong independent character and her love for this family really got to me. This has to be my favorite book so far in the series it touched my heart. If you haven’t read The Whiskey River series I highly recommend the series and this author.
The whiskey River series is addictive.
I really enjoyed this story about second chance love. Caleb is just looking for someone to watch his children and care for his home he’s not looking for love again once was enough for him. Mia is in financial trouble and decided she wanted to be a mail order bride she doesn’t care if love is involved or not it would be nice but. They both forget there’s a higher power that makes those decisions.
Preacher Caleb Henley is still trying to find his footing and an equal balance between his children, the farm, his parishioners, and the church. After losing his wife his life was thrown out of balance, and Caleb is now thinking to take some of stress off of him he needs to take another wife…but in name only. Nobody will ever be able to replace his Jessica.
Mia Flynn is discovering that living in New York without a roommate is more difficult that she would’ve thought. Working as a dance girl and taking some extra sewing, she’s barely surviving. To try and better her situation and in the hopes of seeing her best friend again, she asks Ella to set her up as a mail-order bride.
Knowing Caleb’s requirements for his bride and agreeing to the terms, Mia can’t help but hope Caleb will be able to fall in love with her and help her to create her “dream” family.
Will Caleb be able to find it in his heart to love again? Or will Mia constantly have to live in the shadow of the woman who holds Caleb’s heart?
Compared to other stories in this series, this one definitely has more angst and heartbreak. However, given the situation it’s understandably needed.
A Preachers bride Is a fabulous story that restores your faith in true love and that it can prevail over anything if you work at it. Mia and Caleb restored my faith in second chances. I loved these to characters. As you could feel the embodiment of emotions flowing off of these pages you also knew that they could change you into believing in true love once again. A Preachers Bride is one book that I will for sure keep and read again.
Mia and Caleb’s story gets emotionally confusing for him, and intense at times. Can this couple catch a break! I thoroughly enjoy the books in this series and am anxious for the next one.
A++++++++++++++++++++++ I loved reading about Caleb and Mia’s story. She leaves New York , hoping for a better life in the same town as her friend Ella who lives in with her husband Colton. Mia knows how happy Ella is and wants the same thing for herself She really wanted a husband who loves her but all she can do is fight against her feelings for Caleb . She knows that he still loves his first wife. Caleb doesn’t want a wife but Mia loves Caleb’s children as her own and never wants to leave them. He needs to decide what he really wants with their marriage before Mia decides for them. This is a sweet love story with a woman love, marriage and children and a man who is hurting from loosing a loved one. There are some surprises in store for the reader, but I loved it all. I’m looking forward for the next book in the series and those that follow
