Well written and gritty. Interesting characters.
Mediocre characters, hackneyed.
It would have helped if I had understood poker, but barring my handicap, I enjoyed this mystery.
Well written.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Each chapter started or ended with a “BANG!” Things happened to him that were believeable and crazy! Too bad the author died before he could write very many books! Very intelligent writing!
A unique story with a murder mystery not resolved until the end by a former priest, Marine and Poker professional. The related subplot, obvious early is who benefited from the murder. Other than the Preacher and his friend’s sister, Dana, and their evolving relationship, and the killer, the most of other actors were merely props.
Good story and flow. Interesting characters.
3/4 of the way through with The Preacher this very minute. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Full of amazing action and dialogue and I must get back to it immediately. Soon I’ll be looking for this author’s other works. Oh my gosh., such picturesque speech…fantastic….
the end bothered me a lot. very sad. I expected better results for some of the characters. it left me with sadness for quite a while.
It was hated to put down. I enjoyed the characters and the twist & turns in the story. I was up very late trying to finish it.
Didn’t care for
