The one girl who had the power to tame him is just a distant memory.

Five breaking stars! Ethan is going to ruin you in a delicious way! Rock-star Romance + Enemies-to-lovers + Revenge Romance = masterpiece!
“You called me unbreakable but it’s all in your head. You have the power to break the invisible thread.”
Oh.My.Gosh! Lisa Suzanne has done it again! Her talented pen is something else. She has the power to break my heart and put all the pieces together. This time she delivers a strong, intense, all-consuming book wrapped in a sensual cover that screams best-seller.
The Power to Break is an angsty read that will have you drooling over it. It’s the best enemies-to-lovers-revenge-romance I have read. I devoured it in one night. This book is extremely deep and so addictive. It left me wanting more. Each page was a bookish pleasure that had me at the edge of my sit.
If you love Rock-star Romances, this book is perfect for you. Who does not love a sexy and talented drummer called Ethan Fuller? He is irresistible for any woman. He is what wet dreams are made of. Lisa Suzanne has spoiled her readers with this stunning book. She has gifted us a cocky alpha who is not only talented with drums but in the bed too.
For those who have read A Little like Destiny Series (one of the best series I read on 2017 and that I highly recommend you to read if you haven’t yet) will remember Ethan Fuller, VAIL’s sinful drummer. He caught my eye with his mysterious and womanizer attitude! He is sin in flesh, ladies! He hasn’t experienced love. All he knows is abandon. His parents weren’t nice people. He had to raise her sisters because his mother was more worried of her several boyfriends after his father went to jail. When love touched his soul in high school, he ruined it because he was afraid of it. The girl he almost fall in love deserved more than a damaged boy. He could allow himself to destroy the talented angel. But fate has other plans for him. Falling is not an option, redemption is.
“I’m falling into something I’m sure I won’t be able to get out of.”
The heroine of this book is a talented singer who had a crush over a bad boy. Ethan was everything she wanted but he broke her teenage heart. They shared a kiss that sealed their destiny nevertheless it was ruined. Words hurt but lies kill. Her broken heart leads her to take big risks. Maci’s soul wants revenge. And Ethan deserves to be punished by her alone but seeing him again will awake the same love she tried to bury all those years ago. Forgiveness is not on the table, revenge is. Will she hide her feelings or will she allow Ethan in her bed without remorse? Revenge is sweet. But; if you play with fire, you burn!
“He’s everything I’m not supposed to want because he has the power to break me.”
Lisa Suzanne’s writing is masterful! She knows what my soul craves like no other Author! She gets it! There aren’t enough words to describe my love for this book! Her angst makes your heart weep. CAUTION: This book ends with a big cliff-hanger! I am dying to read the conclusion of this duet. I didn’t know Ethan will steal my heart since it belonged to Mark Ashton! You should not miss this book because there is not greater pleasure than this. Rock-star Romance + Enemies-to-lovers + Revenge Romance = masterpiece!
“Ethan Fuller doesn’t make love…
Ethan Fuller fucks…”
The Power to Break has it all – a sexy rock god, explosive chemistry, plenty of angst, steam, and witty banter…get ready to swoon!
I was so excited to read this book. After reading Lisa Suzanne’s A Little Like Destiny series I was left desperately hoping for more from Vails drummer Ethan. I didn’t expect to like Ethan very much so it was surprising how quickly I fell for him.
Maci is looking to get her revenge against Ethan for things that happened nearly twenty years ago. With it been her sole purpose for most of her life, everything she’s done has been for this moment. Getting the gig as supporting act for Vails new tour means Maci can put the final parts of her plan into action. There’s a fine line between love and hate and that about sums Maci up perfectly. Trying to hold on to that hate while trying not to fall for him leaves Maci confused. She annoyed me sometimes with her need for revenge but apart from that I loved Maci and part of me was hoping she’d get the effect she so desperately wanted.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters and story had me hooked and that ending! Bring on book two!
Loved Ethan and Maci’s story.
These characters are so messed up, so flawed and wonderfully human, half of the time I wanted to hug them and the other half I wanted to slap some sense into them.
Reading about Ethan and Maci was like watching an old friend who is so much more than they think they are, but all you can do is watch the path of destruction they leave behind before they can figure out how to right their wrongs.
This book was sexy, and didn’t hold back either.
I listened to the audible version and the narrator did an excellent job with this book. As soon as I finished it, I started the second one. This is a duet.
Woohoo I devoured this book and was left wanting more! Besides being beautifully written, this story had it all…love, excellent humor and banter, sweetness, drama, and ANGST so much wonderful angst. Dani is such an amazing character, so full of talent and heart. I really enjoyed seeing her grow and change into a feisty, spunky, blunt, hilarious, confident woman. She is a woman with a plan ….yet plans change.
I’m new to this author’s writing but I’m most definitely a fan NOW
OMG!!! Let me say first that I loved Mark and I thought no one could top him as the ultimate Rockstar book boyfriend, but I have always had a weakness for drummers, and holy moly did Lisa Suzanne give me the bad boy drummer of my dreams with Ethan Fuller!!!
Reading The Power to Break was different than reading A Little Like Destiny series in a really good way, we get to experience Ethan’s thoughts and feelings right alongside Maci’s. I love this group of characters and I hope to get stories from more sometime in the future.
Oh and can I just tell you how shocked and disappointed I was with my man (Yes he’s mine don’t fight me) at a certain part, I still don’t get how he didn’t understand what he did wrong!!!
So now I need the next book, Lisa what can I bribe you with to give it to me early? Like really early, like today. Please!!!! I need to know what happens after that little reveal between Ethan and Maci!
This book was fantastic!! I’m pretty sure Ethan Fuller has quickly moved to the top of my list of favorite rocker book boyfriends. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore Mark Ashton (which if you haven’t read the author’s A Little Like Destiny series…..DO IT NOW!)….but you can’t go wrong with a sexy, bad boy drummer.
Maci was quite the spitfire……so sassy and doesn’t take crap from anyone. Love how she knew what she wanted and went after it. She is just one of those strong female characters that you will adore, even if you don’t always agree with her motives. And the chemistry she has with Ethan was off the charts – sparks flew whenever they were around each other!! Just pure fire between these two.
I absolutely loved this story and I will be on pins and needles waiting for part 2 of the duet!!
This book is a character spin off but brings in some new ones. The storyline is entertaining but original with a few twists. Her characters mesh together and keeps you wanting to read more. Can not wait intil the next one.
Lisa loves leaving me hanging with the damn cliffhanger! Ethan & Maci! Fuck!!!! Shit is gonna happen! She’s finally gonna be honest with him about pretty much everything. I knew this was eventually gonna happen. I knew Ethan was gonna find out eventually. This book consumed me just like the Destiny Series! I need many more books with my Vail Boys! Especially Mark & Reese! I need more of them & their families!
My exact words when I finished the page, was Damn it!! Lol, now I have to wait a few weeks to read the next one!! I NEED IT NOW!!! All in All, Lisa, once again consumed me with her characters & her writing!! She hooks you from the beginning! Ethan’s Story was interesting to read! I loved it! I loved seeing Mark again! He’s still my favorite! #ThePowerToBreak #Vail #EthanFuller #Book1 #EthanandMaci #DamnCliffhanger #INEEDBOOK2NOW #Vail
I love a great Rock Romance and this book did not disappoint. Rock band Vail’s drummer Ethan Fuller thinks he is God’s gift to everything. His only kryptonite is a woman he will never see again, Maci Dane. When Maci ends up on Ethan’s tour and she has vengeance on her mind, Ethan will do anything to win her back. For a man who lives like there are no consequences and nothing can faze him, he is reminded that everyone has the power to break, even him. What a great read. I loved the fire between Ethan and Maci. This one story that kept me reading the next page and wanting more. This author did not disappoint with leaving us wanting more, I can’t wait for the next book.
“She was sweet and talented and beautiful and I was the big bad monster who would only hurt her in the end.”
I was lucky enough winning and ARC of The Power to Break. It’s my first book by Lisa Suzanne and I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last. Not only because this book ends with some kind of cliffhanger and I really really need to know what fate has in store for Maci and Ethan!
“The weapon, like you, is unbreakable. But you have the power to break anything standing in your way.”
To be honest, the first 30% where not what I expected. I felt distant from Maci and Ethan. I didn’t get them nor the chemistry between them. Only after 50% into the book I found myself attached to both of them. I turned the pages loosing track of time only to be left with an ending that makes me craving the next book.
“I never thought love would find us, but the invisible thread forever binds us.”
The Power to Break follows the story of Maci and Ethan that goes way back to their teen years. Quite oblivious of their feelings for each other, Ethan unknowingly broke Maci’s heart and more. From then on their ways spiraled way down and apart from each other, defined by the heartbreak they suffered.
“You called me unbreakable, but it’s all in your head. You have the power to break the invisible thread.”
Maci, driven by hate for the only boy she ever loved has only one goal: getting back to him and breaking him as he broke her once 20 years ago. She seems to be a strong tough girl on the outside. But it’s only an act, for everyone around her, her band, her manager, her fans, for her. She hides behind a mask, a person she clearly isn’t but desperately needs to be to get what she wants. Behind all that, she’s still the girl she once was, defined by her past.
“He’s everything I wanted when I was younger, and now… And now. He’s everything I want now.”
Ethan, every bit the bad boy you expect the drummer of a famous band to be. He’s cold, distant, arrogant, a-grade asshole and man-whore. He lives a glorious life with no intention getting attached to anyone that isn’t his band-family. His actions defined by his past, never knowing he was the reason the love of his life left him because of something he said. Behind all the bad boy image, Ethan is still the broken boy from his teen years, running from his past obliviously looking for the home and love he never had a chance to know.
“I know she reminds me of everything I lost once upon a time, and I know she inspires this hope that I could have it all back with her.”
Maci’s plan on revenge turns into action when she was asked to join the famous band VAIL on a big tour, playing the opener. But as much as Maci was able to control her life until then she wasn’t prepared not being able to control her feelings for the boy who broke her heart once. So the plan gets turned upside down leaving Maci with a broken heart all over again. Needless to say, same goes with Ethan, falling for Maci not knowing who she really is.
“Like I’m home again even though I’ve never had that before.”
The Power to Break took clearly it’s time to grow on me, but when it did, I was hooked. I could see beyond the words Lisa put on those pages. Feeling the chemistry, the heart break, the pain and the love between the lines. Lisa did really a great job with this one and I can’t wait reading the second part of this story!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
OK hold on to your seats with this one, if you thought Reese and Mark’s story was amazing you have no idea what Dani/Maci and Ethan’s story is going to do to you. I was hooked, like beyond hooked I was craving more and more on every page and that was before I even reached the middle of the story. I love how this story picks up where Reese and Mark’s story left off well kinda just with different characters and a different plot. Maci what a name, shes this stronger woman then of course when she was younger that is, very independent and knows what she wants and how she is going to get it. Ethan is this bad boy, who thinks he knows what he really wants and does everything ass backwards then what he really should have done. He’s alpha and of course has a way with the ladies he, what every woman wants. The back story into these to have really helped this story grow into what it is and makes it flow like water. Magic on these pages I tell ya. What was suppose to be about Revenge turned love story just blew my mind away I loved everything about it. Some parts where very emotional like the ending like what the hell, how could it stop like that. (not giving out any spoilers just know it was omg amazing). It was for sure a page turner of a story I couldn’t get the pages turned fast enough. Romantic and realistic at the same time, sexy doesn’t even match to the hottness factor of this story. Red faced blush the whole time and get ready to have fan near by on the hottness both from the shirtless Ethan and the incredible sex scenes. Don’t even get me started on those **fans self**This very entertaining story is full of easy to read, and very Original I’ve never read something even close to this. I loved it, ok more then loved it Floved it to pieces. MUST READ!!!!
***I received this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, no one told me what to write this is all me, myself and I***
Revenge and love are two sides of a double-edged sword that can at times be difficult to tell the difference between. The Power to Break by Lisa Suzanne deals with this concept in the first installment of the series. Love can be so all-consuming that sometimes you start to wonder if your end goal is worth it. This novel takes you on the emotionally charged journey of Dani and Ethan, two people who might not seem like they would belong together have a connection that is undeniable.
Dani Manye was the sweet girl back in high school who had just happened to fall in love with the bad boy that was Ethan Fuller. One brief kiss they shared in the hallway fuel her need to gain his approval only to have it crushed by a comment he made. Ethan’s betrayal sparked a need for her to change her image and become the type of girl that would draw Ethan’s attention and have the power to break his heart.
Fast forward to present day and Dani Manye is no more. She has become Maci Dane, a bad*** singer who is as intimidating as the next person. Her success has reached such a level that Ethan’s best friend and fellow bandmate, Mark, wants her to join not only his label but also their tour.
Ethan Fuller’s life has taken off since high school. After Dani mysteriously just disappeared, all he had left to focus on was his music. He, along with Mark, created the band Vail, and they skyrocketed towards fame and fortune. As the rest of his friends have moved on with their bachelor ways, while Ethan has stuck with them. When Mark tells him about Maci Dane possibly joining them, he can’t lie and say that he’s not intrigued. She has a quality about her that he’s drawn to and reminds him of someone he used to know.
Their first encounter proves that there is a definite connection to Ethan, while it gives Maci/Dani the chance to begin her 20-year in the making revenge plan. As they get to know each other through touring, talking and palpable sexual tension, both of them start to question the new feelings they feel for the other. Ethan attempts to figure out what makes Maci so different that he would be willing to up on the current life he’s living. And as Maci/Dani begins to fall more and more in love with Ethan all over again she questions if her revenge plot is worth pursuing. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. It keeps you intrigued from start to finish and allows you to live out your dream of falling in love with the bad boy and possibly getting him to change. Throw in a cliffhanger ending and a sequel on the way, and this reader is hooked.
**Review by Sasha, Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night with Books**
My sister once told me about this theory that every person is connected to another person by a thread. It’ some old legend that I thought was stupid, but I couldn’t help thinking that maybe the girl from high school always held the other end of mine when I first heard about it. ~Ethan
I didn’t think Lisa Suzanne could top her A Little Like Destiny Series, but she completely proved me wrong! I may even like this a little better…sorry Mark and Reese.
The Power to Break is bad boy drummer, Ethan’s, story. He seems to be every stereotype a rocker is. He lives his life on his own terms, but at one time he was a young teenage boy who fell for a sweet girl. However, he had big dreams, and he had to escape the life he was born into, a father in jail and a mother with a revolving door of boyfriends. He could not let anything keep him in Chicago, even the sweet, beautiful girl he shared a kiss with in the school hallway. So, he broke her heart, even though he didn’t realize it. He never forgot her, and he has never found a girl who made his heart race like she did.
Dani Mayne was a sweet, shy girl at fifteen. She had a great family and had a great future in front of her. She also had the biggest crush on bad boy, Ethan. When he kisses her one day in the hallway, she has high hopes., only later to have him crush her. Ethan had no idea he would completely change the course of Dani’s life. She takes her hurt and anger , channeling it into succeeding as a singer and revenge.
I really loved Dani. She had a sweetness and an innocence about her. I could have beaten Ethan for doing what he did. That sweetness and innocence died, and in it’s place was anger, bitterness, and eventually a very unhappy woman who trusts no one. On the other hand, I have to respect her for her tenacity. She has worked hard and made it as a successful artist, but she isn’t Dani….now she is Maci Dane. All the things she hated in Ethan is ironically what she has become. She tells herself things will change will once she brings Ethan to his knees.
I know I haven’t written much about the actual plot, but I can’t. It would ruin it, and I can’t ruin it. Just know you will be in for a wild, emotional ride. The twists will keep the pages turning. It does end on a cliffhanger, but you won’t have to wait long. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this book! It’s a must read!!!!!

This book is part one of a duet and does end in a cliff hanger …
Maci Dane or as she used to be known, Dani Mayne, owes her success and drive to her overpowering need for revenge on the man who crushed her in high school. Now she has that opportunity with supporting the upcoming tour with the hugely successful Rock Band Vail. All she has to do, is snare the man responsible, Vail’s Drummer, Ethan Fuller. She fully intends to succeed and leave him destroyed and on his knees.
Ethan Truly lives the rock star life, he’s obnoxious, egotistical, and even though sexy as hell, he does what he wants when he wants!!
Ethan is unaware of Marci’s true identity. His feelings towards her confuse him, he feels like he knows her, she reminds him of the one girl he ever felt something for and he’s never forgot.
I both loved and hated this book. I loved the push pull of these two characters, but at the same time i just wanted to slap them. I found it pretty hard to like Ethan at times, yes his behaviour nor attitude was great, and i could get that, but hey he’s in his late 30’s!! Maci, i wanted to shake, she’s also in her 30’s and the way this pair danced around each other, always holding their secrets frustrated me. In saying that i also found i had to keep reading, it’s one of those books that kind of sucks you into their spiral and there is no escape! The chemistry between this couple was hot as hades and you are kept guessing and pulling your hair out !!! Now though, i’m pulling my hair out for a different reason and will be waiting impatiently on the next one!
I really wanted to love this book but it seemed to be missing something. Don’t get me wrong it has a great storyline with some drama and angst and of course those hot moments we all love but it started out kind of rocky and quickly went from a hurt teenager story to a rock star holding a grudge. It felt like you just getting to that uphill climb and it ended. Hate that the book also ended abruptly and you can’t find out what happens until the next book is released. The writing and ease of reading was done well but so wanted more.
And it will break you. The entire book, page by page you yearn for something to happen not knowing what you want…the same as Mace. Wonderful story and characters. This could be any young persons life unfortunately. This is a story of life on the road for musicians and love and friendship….but it will tug at your heart. Great job Ms. Suzanne.
Maci has hated Ethan for as long as she can remember, it’s been twenty years but looking at him still makes her insides tingle.
Now she’s part of the Vail tour and she’s putting her revenge into action. It’s kind of childish that she wants revenge on something that made her the great artist that she is, but things are never what they seem. Ethan is opening up to her and his heart is on the line but the worst part is that where Maci is concerned he’s totally at a loss. I love the chemistry of these two, they’re so much alive yet different. I see a lot of pain headed in their direction and book two because this author likes us to suffer right along with her character. This story is steamy and romantic even though these two not very romantic. I love the way this story ended even though it’s a cliffhanger and I hate those. But I already have book two in my Kindle ready to go. This is definitely a five star read and I highly recommend it.
I thought this book was going to be really good since there are so many great reviews for this book, but unfortunately I never quite got into this one and felt annoyed through most of it.
My biggest issue with this book is the heroine Dani/Maci. She gets hurts by her high school crush whom she shared a kiss with one time after she overhears him telling his best friend that her voice sucked after singing. This causes her to run away to a new school and later in life she concocts a half-assed revenge plot against him to make him fall for her and then completely ruin him. I swear I wanted to shout how fucking old are you? Grow the fuck up and stop letting one negative comment rule your entire life. She also makes a complete transformation in her appearance and the type of music she sings.
Maci is on tour with Ethan and of course she’s attracted to him, but the worse part is that she so jealous of every little thing he does. She constantly jumps to conclusions about him and is always feeling hurt over those assumptions. This causes her to act like a bratty little kid after someone stepped on her sand castle. She acted liked an immature bitch and let her anger and hurt run wild and rule her. I just shook my head at the whole thing because it was so ridiculous and immature. Oh and by the way Ethan apparently was completely in love with her as well after kissing her just once and pining after her from afar. This love is so strong that it still affects him in the present and the reason why he is such a manwhore because he just can’t let her go.
I didn’t even care about the rockstar part of the story and was so turned off by the main characters and their ridiculous relationship. Of course it ends in a cliffy and most obvious way ever. I’m so over this book. I really do hate to give this book 2 stars, but I really didn’t like it. Its only getting the two stars because the writing wasn’t bad and hopefully I will enjoy something else this author writes.
This is outstanding writing by Lisa Suzanne. She has done such a good job developing the characters, by bringing them back to the past when they were in high school, and where it all began. You never know when something that you say causes someone to change their life plans. This is the case when Dani overhears Ethan, the senior that she has a crush on, say something very negative about her to his best friend. It changes her into Maci, that is a sexy, hot rock star out for revenge. Ethan, still remembers the girl Dani, that he let get away.
Then, the author writes the most wonderful story that pulls you into their world in a way, that you are not just reading it, but you are living it. The question is, are Maci/Dani and Ethan tied together by the invisible thread? I do not want to give anything away, because you need to experience it also, but beware, it ends on a really big cliffhanger. After calling the author several names leaving me this way, I am now waiting very impatiently for the next book, because this one is that good. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It is worth it.
