Shortly after their high school graduation, Evangeline Maddingly, daughter of one of the … graduation, Evangeline Maddingly, daughter of one of the town’s wealthiest old-money families, and Oliver Prescott, son of one of the town’s wealthiest new-money families, are found dead in an isolated cabin in the woods outside of town. ~ Five years later ~
A small group of strangers gathers to create jewelry for one of Port Elspeth’s many fundraisers. Before long, friendships are forming and old secrets are being revealed. The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly TIerney-Bedord is an interesting mystery story. I was initially intrigued by the title and got drawn into a good story. Small town politics, gossips, and curious members of the jewelry making club combine for a story that makes for a good murder mystery. The characters are well written. Many remind me of different people that I have met in various social groups over the years. The murder has held the attention of the town for years and these women come together despite their differences to solve the crime. The characters are realistic and the group is what makes the story really good. I found this quick to read and entertaining at the same time. I will be looking for more to read from this author in the future.
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedord has a wonderful storyline. Holly Tierney-Bedord has made a great story and a pastime that should come back again. This is about a group of women sitting around making jewelry and chatting about a murder that happened five years back. I love the idea of women getting to gather to talk and not judgmental of each other. This story is a great mystery with a little humor along with it. I was captured right away and could not put the kindle down until I turned the last page.
THE PORT ELSPETH JEWELRY MAKING CLUB is a book that I thought was going to be a “cozy cottage mystery” despite the cover. It absolutely has that feel about it. A group of unlikely friends come together to gather and make jewelry. This club goes from one with having a clear purpose (everyone making new friends) to that of a mystery solving group.
Each character has a unique and quirky personality. This is a group of women that SHOULD NOT work well together, yet they do. This story has twists and turns along the way along with some delightfully humorous dialog. Told in multiple points of view, we are never at a loss for what is going on.
This was an enjoyable story that I was able to put down and pick up again with no problem. It is one that I would recommend to my elderly mother’s book/quilting/knitting/ladies lunching club because It think they could relate a wee bit.

5 Amazingly Awesome Stars
Oh My!! This book was out of this world amazing, I loved every single second of it!! This is my first read by this author and Im blown away.
Usually when there are this many characters in one book I get all flustered but this one was done so perfectly that I never had to stop and say “wait, who was that again” I don’t know how this author did it but it was simply perfect.
I don’t even know if I know what the main storyline was because it was all so good and I was fully invested in each individual story all the way through..I lied I do know what the main was and it had me all over the place thinking I had it all figured out and of course until the end I didn’t.
I’m sitting totally blank because I don’t know what to say…I want to tell you about each person in this book, I want to tell you their stories and tell you how I felt about each one but that wouldn’t be fair, I am not even kidding when I say I already want to go read it again and I will recommend this to everyone I know that reads.
This had the perfect balance of everything I love in my books, the mystery though I think was my favorite part with the interaction and friendship bonds that were formed being a very close 2nd. I don’t even know who my favorite was because I loved them all, I even loved the ones that I was meant to not like, the character building was spot on.
I will absolutely be reading more from this author, I have to quit rambling because I’m too tempted to say too much…READ THIS!! This author is so talented and I just know that anyone that loves to read will thoroughly enjoy this book!!
The Port Elspeth Jewellery Making Club is instantly engaging, from the very first page. This murder mystery is full of unlikely friendships that suffuse it with warmth. The twists and turns of this story are intricate yet never take you out of the story. Overall it is a very well crafted piece of work. It’s worth reading.
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club is a delightful novel by Holly Tierney-Bedord that has a mystery that will keep you turning pages. Five years ago the town of Port Elspeth was struck by the tragic death of two of its citizens and the town people have never been given a satisfactory explanation of what happened. New comer to town, Candace decides to start a jewelry making club as a way to meet people and become more involved in town. As the club makes jewelry secrets start coming out. Will the club solve the mystery? The story is told in the P.O.V. Of each of the club members giving the story a unique feel and building the mystery as each character adds to the story. I really enjoyed this book, I haven’t read anything by this author before but I will definitely be looking for more of her titles to read!
I give The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedord, 5 stars.
Port Elspeth is a town of very well-to-do people, who live on gossip and society news. When a newcomer decides to place an ad for a jewelry making club, little does she know just how much an effect it will have on her and the town itself.
I have read this author before, but only her shorter stories. I have always enjoyed them, but it was a pleasant surprise at just how excellent she can write a longer novel. I was swept in from the very beginning and could not put the book down until I was finished. The fun, quirky, and at times annoying characters are spot on and really are what make this book. The stories each of them have, along with the mystery of what happened long ago bring this book to life. You will be kept guessing until the end as to what exactly happened.
This is a fun, moving book about women of all ages coming together, realizing just who they really are and that they are stronger than they think. If you like books about women and the friendships that can be made of so many seemingly different personalities, then this book is for you.

Four Stars
The PortElspth Jewelry Making Club is a wonderfully written story with mystery added in by Holly Tierney-Bedord. This is my read by Ms. Tierney-Bedord, but definitely won’t be my last. I loved how the story flowed from beginning to end. This book focus on the lives of the women in the jewelry making club, all the while they were trying to solve the mysterious murders from years earlier. This book had some twists and turn I didn’t see coming and kept me coming back for more. I highly recommend this book. It is a great summer read.
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club is a light-hearted, fun read about a group of women and the friendship they form. There are elements of romance, mystery and drama and these made for such a brilliant read. I was already excited to get stuck into this one, but I didn’t realise just how quickly it would suck me in! I was pretty much obsessed with the story straight away and having finished it, I cannot recommend it enough.
The book opens with a brief flash of the past and sets a creepy and eerie tone. If this little snippet of drama didn’t get you asking questions, I don’t know what would! The book then diverts away from this and introduces us to a whole range of women, all vastly different but still quite similar in certain ways. While I love all of the women for different reasons, I think Pearl has to be my favourite. She is just an eccentric woman but has such a kind heart and I just love this. The odd group of women made for some really entertaining moments, but I think things really got going once we started to learn more about the mystery surrounding the Maddingly and Prescott tragedy. I could not read fast enough to try and find out more about this tragic event! As we were slowly given more and more information I found myself trying to piece things together like a detective. I love these kinds of reads and I think the author wrote this brilliantly. I won’t spoil things here but the outcome of this mystery will not disappoint!
This was such a fantastic read. I loved everything about it (literally everything) and I know I will be looking out for more of this author’s work in the future. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who is a fan of mystery, romance, drama and a little light-hearted relief. A definite 5* read!
A great read about community. Cadence Somerset has just moved to the coastal town of zprt Elspeth with her husband. Deciding to join the community, she sets up a jewelry making club. Finding new friends and a s new of family, she discovers that behind the perfection of Port Elspeth there are more secrets than you could believe.
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Cadence standing up for what she wants despite her husband or Margo’s french flair but kindness underneath as a good friend or Pearl as a great cqring and supportive mother figure. Or Ada as a sweet schoolteacher but also standing up for herself.I loved the use of different chapters from different perspectives which worked well to display the stueggles of each individual on different points of view. .
The simple settings of the small town was brilliantly done with the brick houses or the little school with a sense of colour against it.
Or the visual detail of the beach and the sun on the water which was stunning and calming. I also adored the small details of the beads and bracelets which were bright and colourful. I loved the sense of community and family in a little club. The use of suspense was done to perfecrion, leaving you wanting to read on to find out the rest of the story.. A great read and I would give it five stars.
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedord a fantastic four-star read. This author has a great way with words, the stories are funny and have a great twist to them, this one s no exception. The town of Port Elspeth is a little bit of a creepy place, it’s the type of town where bad things don’t happen, and if they do well they don’t get talked about, more brushed under the rug and discussed behind closed doors. This book has a great way of bringing different characters together and showing us their own story and how they interact and show each other the mysteries of the town and each other. This is a lovely story and you will get dragged into each aspect following them all on their journey.

4 stars
I have read quite a few books by this author now and they never fail to entertain me. They are always so easy to read and she creates the most wonderful and likeable characters. They are characters that always seem so real and true to life. I like that the story was told from different POV’s of the friendship group, I like to get information about all of the characters and get to know them all.
There were some really good twists to the story too and I loved guessing what was going to happen. This author always manages to bring a little mystery into her books and I love going on the journey with the characters to try and solve it.
Overall another great read from Holly Tierney-Bedord, I definitely recommend it to people looking for a nice easy read which is well written. I look forward to more from her in the future!
I have not had the pleasure of reading anything by Holly Tierney-Bedford before this novel. It will however, not be my last! I truly enjoyed the way she told this story with ease and passion. It was evident throughout the book that this was a very dear story and even more treasured characters to Holly Tierney-Bedford. I love when an author pours that soul into their books so much that it is evident. It pulls me into the novel and has me that much more invested.
Cadence, along with her husband, are the newbies in Port Elspeth. Port Elspeth has that dreamy and perfect aura to it. It appears as the idyllic town you would want to live in. It isn’t as perfect as it appears to be however.
Cadence has started a new club where they make jewelry in an effort to socialize with the community and get to meet the people in it better. During the first meeting of the club they come up with the name of “The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club” and get to know each other better. The women we meet at this first meeting will be the narrators of the rest of the novel. We will get to learn about each of their everyday lives and the past stories that lead them to where they are today. They all come together to try and solve a five year mystery that has plagued Port Elspeth. As their stories and the mystery unfolds you will find yourself laughing out loud and having the gambit of emotions played out as well.
I loved this novel and I can’t wait to see what other treasures are out there by Holly Tierney-Bedford!
Well this novel certainly had me hooked from the first chapter with it’s twists and turns kept me guessing and eager to turn the pages. It has moments that made me laugh but what i really loved was the mystery and suspense it really kept me on my toes! It’s certainly a well written story which flowed beautifully defiently worth reading.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved how the women formed a friendship regardless of stature or what society tried to dictate to them. The mystery aspect made it that much more interesting. You will want to throat punch Cadence’s husband just as much as I did! Great characters and a quick and easy read that you want to put down.

4 out of 5 stars
What a wonderful book!n I would equate this to the grown up version of Nancy Drew! I loved the mystery that the lovely ladies of the Jewelry making club have found themselves in the middle of. A few of mother/daughter duos and a few individual players round out this super fun group of smart, sassy and sharp witted women. The journey that each of these characters take you on through each of their daily lives and shenanigans is a huge delight!.
The town itself if very stuck, Stick in its thinking, its general way of life and anyone who opposes that can find themselves in a serious world of hurt. This story is told from several characters points of view and I love that about this book. It took me a while to get used to the shift but I found that to be one of the best parts. I loved how each character interpreted and understood the environment around them. This is one of the better books I have read this year. Highly recommended.
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedord was the first book I’ve read by this author but it for sure won’t be my last. It hooked me from the moment I started until I finished. It all begins with 2 young high school graduates being found dead in a isolated cabin. Their deaths never solved mainly because they come from powerful families. Move several years down the road and a few eccentric, quirky strangers join a jewelry making club for a fundraiser. They quickly become friends. I loved learning more about these women and all their quirky, weird lives. Secrets come out and soon they are trying to solve the old murder. Its a fun, attention grabbing, mysterious read and I was not sure who the murderer was until the very end. I can’t wait to read another book by Holly Tierney-Bedford!
The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedford is a great read with lots of twists and turns. One woman, who is new to town wants to set up a Jewelry Club to bring a group together so she can make new friends. She was able to get a group going and they ended becoming amateur detectives to solve an old murder that happened in the past.
Holly Tierney-Bedford has a way with her words. She is very descriptive and keeps you engaged from the first page to the last page. Her characters were well developed, believable and were people you could be friends in real life. I definitely recommend reading The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club.
A quirky and well-written book. I enjoyed reading about these women individually and seeing how they end up working together. The characters are unique from one another and each have their own well defined voice. The plot was solid and moved fluidly. I found this book to be a fun read and one I would recommend to others.
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the concept of a group of women sitting around trying to solve a murder along with getting to see the inside of each character. They pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me reading I had to see what would happen next. This book has a little bit of everything in it but it is the mystery that kept me turning pages. The suspense of this group talking about the old mystery and getting the murder left me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book
