This is my first Nikki Sloane ARC but not my first read. My first read was The Filthy Rich Americans series and then The Doctor, which was book one of the Nashville Neighbor series.
This is a taboo story… Older woman, younger man. The storyline isn’t something I haven’t read before but I had fun reading and living vicariously through Erika. I love how strong she is for putting herself together after her heartbreak… I love how her apprehensions and feelings were relatable. And Troy, *sigh* I wish all guys will fight for their woman like how he fought for Erika.
It really is a swoon-worthy, feel-good read. To the fans of Vi Keeland, Erin Noelle and Penelope Douglas, this is the book you need to pick up next.
Erika caught her husband cheating and is divorced from him. Her friend keeps encouraging her to get out and have a fling. Troy is her friends son and takes care of Erika’s pool. He catches her sunbathing topless and has always had a crush on her. He is trying to please his parents and do his own thing. The two end up having hot sex and give each other the support they need at the time. A sexy good read that I recommend.
I’m convinced some of the best books are summer reads, and The Pool Boy is exactly what I’m talking about. This Age Gap/Forbidden romance is incredibly steamy and a little emotional, the main characters chemistry is explosive, it’s a good thing there’s lots of pool water to put out the fires they ignite! No doubt about it, age is just a number and these two proved it didn’t make a difference, “The heart wants what it wants”.
This is the second book of the Nashville Neighborhood and we get a peek of Doctor Lowe and Cassidy, from the first book, which is always a treat to reconnect with favorite book characters. Pull up a chair and sit for a while with this delightful read, you’ll be happy you did!
Erika Graham accidently found out, on her forty-second birthday, that her husband, Clark, of almost twenty years had been cheating on her with his boss. And apparently it had been going on for over a year. After meeting with a divorce attorney, for what would turn out to be an acrimonious divorce. Almost a year later her best friend, Jenna, was insisting she get out and start dating. Erika was a successful agent with Warbler Talent and didn’t need a man to support her; but it would be nice to have one that met her other needs.
“Maybe you could only reach a certain level of happiness for yourself, but…happiness for someone else? That was limitless. That was joy.”
Troy Osbourne was Jenna’s twenty-four year old only son, and was living at home since he’d graduated from college with a degree in Athletic Training. Troy hadn’t found a full-time job yet, he had a few clients that needed a personal trainer at the gym he went to, and was working for his step-father’s home remodeling business but it was something he disliked doing. Troy felt he owed his mom and Bill, and felt obligated to help them with the business. And for the last year he had been cleaning Erika’s pool on Tuesdays, hoping to get a glimpse of her. He’d been obsessed with mother’s best friend for the last five years, ever since he saw her get on stage and heard her sing.
“You telling me what to do, exactly how you wanted it. Every dirty, nasty thing you like.”
After walking into Erika’s backyard and finding her topless, things take a steamy turn in their relationship. Erika insists it will only work between them if they agree to keep things quiet; she doesn’t want Jenna to find out about them. When Erika discovers Troy is a talented singer and musician, she decides he needs to be discovered, despite Troy’s misgivings. But it’s a given, some things can’t be kept secret forever; it’s inevitable that someone will find out and spill the beans.
“Part of being an adult is compromise, not getting everything you want.”
I know I can always count on Nikki Sloane to deliver some sexy steam and entertainment. Erika Graham is newly divorced and starting over at 42. She spent 20 years on a marriage with a man who appreciated her less and less over time until she caught him with someone else. Never again will Erika be taken unaware. In the meantime, she’s enjoying the house to herself and decides that since no one is around, she can confidently sunbathe topless because she’s in the best shape of her life. She forgot to factor in that Troy Osbourne comes over every week to clean her pool and sees her. Oh boy, does it get even better from here. For Troy, Erika is his long living fantasy come to life and she’s finally single and wow, what perfect timing!
I loved the story setup between Troy and Erika. They aren’t strangers to each other. As a matter of fact, Troy’s mom, Jenna, is Erika’s best friend. Troy may be much younger than Erika, but he knows what he wants and he isn’t going to wait any longer. Aside from the building relationship between these two and all the naughtiness between them, they both have their own issues and careers to deal with and handle them maturely. Erika can assist Troy in making his dream come true and Troy makes Erika feel like she’s special and desirable. There’s no denying that age is just a number between them because they fit perfectly together in all of the other ways that matter. This story packs in heat, humor and tension to make it the perfect poolside read.
The Pool Boy by Nikki Sloane was one steamy read!!
There were so many elements to this novel that I absolutely adored! Troy and Erika had an undeniable connection. Yes, the relationship was all sorts of taboo – age gap and best friends son, yet, together they just fit.
Despite this relationship being taboo, and steamy on many levels, they had so much more depth to them than simply that. They were able to help each other, and complete each other in ways that no one else was able to do.
This was a hot, taboo, and loveable read. I know that I can always count on Nikki Sloane for a great read!
4/5 Stars!
I have never read a story where the older one was the woman, so I therefore I was a bit skeptical going forward but my god this book exceeded my expectations.
The connections between those two was palpable, it was easy to believe and see them as if they were a real couple in our world. The realness of it was superb, it was made even better when you get to see/read other characters from previous books.
So Troy and Erika… They really were made for each other, they had to wait, understand that everything has its time and place, even love, and that if you want something you have to be able to put the work for it.
I will be remembering these two for a long, it’s no easy to find a good story that has good romance with a good story, don’t get me wrong you will get your dirty scenes but they are very well place and written that it’s just flow as “part of life”.
More than ready for the next book in the Nashville Neighborhood
Deliciously sexy and instantly addicting. This is one hot and sexy page turner you won’t want to end. I read this all in on setting. The Pool Boy was off the charts hot.
“Nikki has enthralled me with her words, weaving a Riveting , captivating, alluring book that kept me hostage. She has delivered an explosive story, just wow.
This deliciously wicked must read will blow your mind and leave you with a massive book hangover for weeks.
“6 delicious stars!
YOWZA! This book is so HOT.
There is so much about this book that I liked.
Firstly, it’s a forbidden romance. Freshly divorced after 20 years of marriage, Erika finds herself starting over and she grabs the attention of her pool boy, who also happens to be her best friend’s son. The tension that this brings to the story had my heart pumping. I love everything forbidden.
Second… Erika is a fierce heroine in her 40s and I love that us middle-aged ladies can have a HOT, sexy love story with a 20 year old guy. She found herself with some diminished self-esteem and I could totally identify with that.. we’ve all been there.
Third. It is HOT with a capital H. That is all. You need to read it to see.
And there actually is more story than that, which I wasn’t expecting that leads to some other boundaries that Erika and Troy need to navigate. I found the main characters to be very likeable and I felt invested in their story and happily ever after.
“I love you, Pool Boy!” 5 stars
Yes, I love this pool boy, and this book made me so happy! As the blurb says, Erika is in her early 40s coming off a divorce after her husband cheated and taking time for herself which I really appreciated. I appreciated her journey, because even though she is older she still had things to learn about herself. Troy is her younger pool boy and best friend’s son, so a fling is not a good idea. But their chemistry is too hot to be ignored! I love Troy in this book, and he is a perfect book boyfriend! I can’t even put my finger on why I love him so much, but I do and he made me smile so much! It is refreshing to have a book like this that doesn’t have a lot of drama (which is what this author is usually known for, in my opinion). Erika and Troy are perfectly matched in the bedroom and in the music business, but can it be more? Read this hot, fun, age-gap romance with characters I love and not much drama and find out, because I highly recommend it!
*I received an advanced copy of this ebook for my honest review.*
4.5 stars
This is the second book in the Nashville Neighborhood series and it is one entertaining read from beginning to end. Erika is starting over after divorcing her husband at the age of forty-two. Suffice it to say that her marriage was not what she expected. The final nail in the coffin was catching her husband with another person. Being on one’s own has some benefits and Erika is taking advantage of that by taking her top off to sunbathe. Surprise, surprise but who should show up but her pool boy Troy. From this point, the heat really picks up. This is one hot, fun, age-gap romance with an older woman/younger man. The chemistry is off the charts and they fit together like two peas in a pod. I would recommend reading it by water so you can cool off. : – ) I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
I enjoyed this one! Nikki always brings the steam (one of the things I love about her books) but this one also has a good story I can get behind. Erika has just finalized her divorce after catching her husband in a compromising position and although she’s not actively looking for a new man one sort of materializes while she’s sunbathing. What she didn’t count on was it being the son of her best friend! Troy has had his sights set on Ms Graham for years but she was married. When he finally gets his shot another opportunity appears as well, his shot at pursuing a music career. Relationships are hard on their own but throw in a music career, a big age gap, and a mother who’s having trouble letting her son leave the nest and you’ve got a story that entertained me, made me fan myself, and had me cheering for the unlikely couple to make it. Heavy on the steam but also with a big dose of heart, I enjoyed reading this one!
The Pool Boy is the 2nd book in the Nashville Neighborhood series and I could not put it down. This story was steamy yet sweet, emotional with a little angst included and its the perfect taboo summer romance. This age-gap romance with an older woman younger man was sizzling hott and the chemistry between Troy and Erika could not be denied. However in addition to all the steam there was also quite a bit of emotion included in the story and the author did an excellent job making Troy and Erika’s relationship believable. This novel was fast paced and I was able to read it all in one sitting. The Pool Boy was a wonderful page-turner and I would recommend it all lovers of steamy taboo romance.
Can’t give this book enough stars! This is yet another sexy, romantic, all around perfect romance by Ms. Sloane. I love Erica and Troy together. I love the age difference and how in the end it didn’t matter. A steamy entertaining summer read that you should not pass up.
3.5-3.75 stars. I enjoyed this book for the most part. The Pool Boy is a the second book in the Nashville Neighborhood series. I enjoyed this book a little more than the first book in the series as I felt it had a little more depth. This is Troy and Erika’s book. Erika is a 42 year old recently divorced woman with a revenge bod and a new pair of tatas. Troy is the 24 year old son of her best friend who cleans her pool. One day, Erika is sunbathing by the pool topless when Troy shows up to clean the pool. She has never thought of him as a man or in a sexual way before but he has definitely been fantasizing about her. Their encounter is awkward, but it obviously affects Troy and that turns Erika on, as she’s had a long dry spell. The two begin a sexual relationship which leads to more. Throw into the situation, Erika is a former singer who never made it big and who now works for a music producer. Troy fills in for his friend’s band one night and Erika is shocked to find out that he is really talented, charismatic singer. Erika helps him see that he could have a big career in the music industry and that she can help him make it big. They fall for each other along the way.
This was an easy, sexy read. It had some emotions, but not a ton. I enjoyed the story, though. Erika and Troy were hot together. I didn’t feel like the age difference was that bad. Troy was 24, which is not a kid. Erika does call him a boy a few times, which I didn’t really like and felt like a ploy to play up the age difference. But, mainly, they seemed pretty close in maturity level. Troy could still be dominant with her and she did not treat him like a boy toy. Erika was okay, but didn’t have much depth. The ending was a little less firm of an HFN. I am not sure I see this couple lasting long term, but they’re enjoying each other for now.
Overall, this was an entertaining, easy read. Sexy, light and enjoyable. I look forward to more from Ms. Sloane in the future!
Nikki Sloane has been killing the age-gap romance and The Pool Boy just hit the spot!!!
What I love about this book? Where to start?!?! The fact that Erika is 18 years older than her love interest Troy. That Erika takes care of herself, isn’t hung up on her age and lovin her 40s (cause 40 is like the most liberating age to be a woman!), is at her sexual peak, is unapologetic about who she is, and is one classy demure woman! Like wow! Erika just owns it! And then there is Troy… sweet, sexy, hawt-as-fuck and all about Erika! I love a hero who is all about his woman, and Troy has been wanting to make Erika his woman for at least 5 years!
What starts off as a hawt flirty encounter between Erika and Troy turns into a lust driven need to push the boundaries of their platonic relationship into a sensually erotic affair. The pool house encounter quickly escalates to all hands – and body parts – on deck! Erika thinks this is a phase, a hawt sexual interlude between two very attractive people. Troy however wants Erika to be his forever. But how does he convince her that they could be so much more? The fun, taboo hook ups quickly turn into something serious and tangible, and I love how Nikki Sloane took it to that next level. When Troy wants something more serious from Erika, it’s how the couple navigates the idea of having a real relationship that grounds this book and makes it so much more. Erika has a lot at stake, a friendship, her career, opening herself up for a love that would tend to her emotionally, mentally and physically. Is she ready to take that head on after a failed marriage of 20 years?
Enjoy how Erika navigates her new found freedom, because this journey is deliciously sinful and taboo!
This book is fun, sensual and delivered in true Nikki Sloane fashion! If you are a fan of Ms Sloane’s work, The Pool Boy will not disappoint. If you are new to the author’s works, The Nashville Neighbourhood series is a great start to jump in to the author’s works. While this book is a standalone. There is reference to Book 1 The Doctor, in this series!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
Troy and Erika = younger man & a more mature woman = HOT, so sexy, and a little bit sweet as well. I really enjoyed reading The Pool Boy, it proved to be very addictive reading and I finished it off in one sitting.
These 2 main characters show that age is no barrier to attraction. Erika’s confidence had recently taken a big hit after the situation with her ex-husband, and to start with she’s a little hesitant due to the age difference between her and her best friend’s son ( YES – best friend’s son! ).
Troy may be younger than Erika, but he is a man who knows what he wants, and he wants Erika very badly……….” I always thought you were hot, but you’re a smoke show now, Ms Graham”………Did I mention these 2 were hot together?
Loved seeing some of the familiar characters from The Doctor – Dr Lowe being Erika’s neighbour. Looking forward to whoever the next couple will be in this neighbourhood.
Holy mother of all hotness! Grab you frozen drink and come hang with us at the pool to refresh, because this book is steamy! But also there is a lot of romance and an unbelievable connection between Troy and Erika.
It’s been one year since Erika’s divorce, after she found out her husband in a compromise position with another man. Now her best friend Jenna is set for Erika to jump back to the game of dating with full force. What Jenna would never imagine is who is the guy who would make Erika feel alive again.
Troy is just out of college and doing a lot of side jobs until he finds what he really wants to do. But he never had any doubt of whom he wanted: Erika, his mother’s best friend and 20 years older than him. To get closer to her she start to clean her pool. Everything changed when he arrives one day and find Erika without the top of her bikini sun bathing. From that moment on everything changed.
I loved their relationship. Although at first she thought he was just a fase, but in the end he had a lot to teach her about herself and how to gain confidence. He would do and give up everything in his life to be with her, she was the one. He just needed to convince her.
Their connection through music was so beautiful and I loved how she, as a music manager, helped him to follow his dream as a singer. And when they weren’t being professional they were living in a secret love affair that was blowing out of her thoughts proportion.
I love everything about this forbidden, age gap, hot hot hot story and now I want to read every single book from Nikki. But first I need to go, because I need to find my pool boy too and I don’t even have a pool!
I loved this next book in the Nashville Neighborhood series by Nikki Sloane!!
The dynamics between Troy and Erika were fascinating.
Sometimes unsure and vulnerable, sometimes confident and assertive.
Watching both Characters come in to their own was fantastic!
The Sexy times were HOT HOT HOT and the emotional connection developed perfectly.
Don’t miss this one!!
Outstanding on an infinite amount of levels!
Troy and Erika both made me ridiculously happy. You know how sometimes you like one lead a little bit more, or a lot more, than the other lead for whatever reason? I couldn’t find a single thing about either one of these two people that was in competition. I am in love with them both and they shall be mine!
The story has all kinds of little taboo nuggets to it, like the age-gap and best friend’s son aspect, and there are also some aspects that would normally be cliché, but I found them to not only not be twitchy but to be a bit unique. This is the part where most reviewers would tell you what these aspects are of the story but not I lol You’re not getting plot points from me 🙂 You will however get from me how deliciously sexy the entire story was and how delightful it was that it was not just simply an age-gap taboo read. It’s a story of growth and acceptance for both Troy and Erika as individuals and as a couple all wrapped up in a huge amount of heart that will leave you so damn happy! #TRUST
Could not put it down!!! I stayed up until 1:45am reading this because I just had to see what happened!
I love a good age-gap romance and the fact that this one had not only an older female but was also a mom’s best friend story, giving that forbidden aspect to the story, made it that much better! Their chemistry was hot as hell but Nikki also made it so that you felt a genuine connection between the two of them! She also made it realistic in the way she handled Erika’s divorce, Troy’s fears/insecurities, and other people’s reactions to them. I hope we get to see a little more of these two throughout the rest of the series!
