Nothing says happy birthday like catching your husband in a compromising position with his boss. His male boss. Why, hello, midlife crisis. I’m starting over, but this time I’m doing it right. Or at least I’m doing what I want.Taking the day off from work to hang out poolside? Yup. Do I leave the swimsuit in my house? Sure.Does my very hot, twenty-something pool boy happen to catch me naked? Oh, … happen to catch me naked? Oh, yeah, he does. And he likes what he sees… a lot.
My best friend keeps telling me to have a fling and get back out there. But I’m not so sure she meant for me to do it with her son.

Hot
This was a nice twist on age-gap. Its normally the guy that is the older one, so it was a nice change. Troy and Erica’s story is hot and steamy. She is a divorcee that is horny and wants sex. He has had a crush on her for five years. Did not really care for the fact she referred to him as a boy alot. He’s 24, definitely not a boy.
Erika and her husband had been drifting more and more apart at time goes on after 20 years of marriage she finds him sharing romance with his male boss on her birthday. Erika’s best friend’s son is the pool boy and all grown up. For 5 years, Troy has been longing for Erika and learned to play guitar and sing to impress Erika. Troy had seen Erika trying to turn her husband on, but unsuccessfully and he couldn’t understand why. Erika worked in the music industry in act management and after hearing Troy sing one night (as a fill in) she encouraged him to audition for opening act. So much about this book that was right on the money. Forbidden romance with younger man with older woman. WOW could Troy say the right things at the right time…he was very confident in everything other than dealing with his mother. So many good hot scenes between Troy and Erika. He was very mature in the way he knew what he wanted and could explain how he felt and what he needed. He was not giving up what he wanted most…for Erika to be in his life as both his manager and his girlfriend. Age meant nothing. I could go on and on an on and on…this was really great!
My favorite read this summer. Hot and sexy and charming. A great story!
This read is HOT! Get ready for an forbidden age gap romance that will have you itching for a dip in the pool STAT!
Newly divorce Erika Graham is in a point in her life where her life is starting over thanks to catching her husband in a compromising position with his male BOSS of all people! Things made more sense after that discovery and is determined to move onto with her life. Her bestie wants her to go out there again but has her hesitations.
Troy Osbourne has been the pool boy for the Osbourne household and dropping by once a week to take care of their pool. An unexpected encounter with Erika leads to feels that he been harboring for years and knowing she is single has him determined to prove that he is not that boy she always sees him as.
“Pick a reason,” I said. “It’s unprofessional. Inappropriate. I’m twice your age, and your mother’s best friend.”
The chemistry between Erika and Troy is steamy. Their situation on wanting is challenging. The want for more in life and on a physical and emotional level is a risk they will have to take if they choose to go that route. Get ready for some undeniable romance that will have you hot and bothered.
Awesomely steamy May/December romance!
“You’re going to get wet.” Well, I’d say, truer words have never been spoken. Because, my gawd, this book is seriously hot from the get-go. First meet and then, bam! Sparks fly between our main characters. Actually, it was more than sparks. It was literally, fireeeeee!!! The attraction was instant, and the forbidden/ taboo factor, age-gap (young man/ older woman) sure add to the sizzle and sexiness of this latest read from the author. Aside from their fiery chemistry, Troy is pretty mature for his age and Erika needed a guy who she can connects to emotionally and interests-wise. Their shared passion truly helped for them to be more bonded. Overall, this a must read for lovers of this trope!
After Erika catches her husband in a compromising position with his boss she files for divorce. She’s determined to start over be more confident. Her pool boy, Troy has had a crush on Erika for years. Now that her husband is out of the picture he thinks he has a shot. Erika and Troy begin a steamy relationship. Troy is everything her ex wasn’t caring, attentive, and attracted to her. Troy wants Erika to see them as more than a fling. Can Erika get past her reservations? Will Troy convince Erika he’s in it for the long haul?
We all been there where we wonder where our life has gone by. Erika only wanted one thing, love, yet some where along the way it has left her. Nikki Sloane shows us that no matter how hard we try we cannot control life. Then we have Troy who by all counts is hot but is holding things back. With Erika he is doing things he only dreamed of doing never imagining it becoming a reality. It may have started as a fling but Troy is wanting more and Erika is afraid of not only her friendship but what people will think. Nikki Sloane does a great job in showing us that sometimes we have to take a leap of faith and boy does it show in this book. All in all it may have started off slow but once they get past well the awkwardness get ready for a hot tale.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Loved this second book in the Nashville Neighborhood series. This was full of passion, a forbidden age gap relationship and having dreams come true. It was well written and I invested in the characters from the offset. The heat radiating off the pages was intense and had me needing a fan at times! It was a super hot read, with a great storyline. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
Age-gap romance story where you will get immersed from the very start, Erika and Troy’s story is amazing, there is little angst but overall it’s a very sweet nice romance. The chemistry and steam between the characters are hot, they both compliment each other and the story-line has a very well done built up. You will love this book as much as their characters. Five stars!
Please bear with me as I go off on a slight tangent before getting to the main event.
I can feel some of you rolling your eyes already so no offence will be taken if you want to bug out early rather than read my lead up *shrugs*.
For those departing early you just need to know two things:
1. This story is amazing.
and
2. You should definitely read it.
Okay, is there anyone left? Okay good, thanks for staying with me *blushes*.
I feel like I have waited a looong time for this book, lol. Tangent alert! I’m not a big fan of New Year celebrations so back on New Year’s Eve 2018 I decided to treat myself to a cheeky wee download of The Doctor. All I can say is my New Year definitely went off with a bang *winks*.
And between thee and me, I still have the book trailer on my phone. Shh, that’s our secret! Pinky promise?
So, you could say I was a fan of the good doctor. Paging Dr. Lowe…
Well, (getting to the main event just in case you want to know!) some things are just worth the wait. You know that feeling you get (steady!) when you read a fantabulous story and someone asks what you think of it, but your brain decides to go on a hiatus because how can mere words even do it justice? Yeah, The Pool Boy was – All. Of. That.
Let me tell you, the title of this story doesn’t even scratch the surface of the treasures within. As I’ve said before, I’m a sucker for age-gap romance and when it’s an older woman – I am G-O-N-E! I’m not embarrassed to admit I had my pom-poms out for Erika because I certainly wouldn’t kick Troy out of my bed for eating biscuits. No, sir! *shakes head*
Now, don’t get me wrong, are there sexy times in the book? *snorts* With bells on (hot flash!), but they mean something. It’s about connection, exploration and those *whispers* pesky things called feelings.
I know I’m being a Cryptic Wonder, but just trust me, Erika and Troy need to tell you their story their way and that does not include Laura putting her size sevens in it!
To think Erika and I are the same age. Alas, there are no hot pool boys to be had in Scotland – more’s the pity. If there were, I’d probably frighten the life out of them *giggles*.
And on that note, I think I better sign off!
I am so happy Nikki Sloane decided to return to her Nashville Neighborhood series. She came out with The Doctor back in 2018, and there were a few secondary characters we met that I was hoping would get their own book. The Pool Boy is about Troy Osbourne (the titular pool boy) and Erika Graham (his mother’s best friend).
I really enjoyed The Doctor, but my one issue with it was that it focused to much on the sex and not enough on the emotional aspect so that you believe the couple’s feelings truly run deep and they are it for each other. I did not have this problem in The Pool Boy. The author did a good job balancing the steamy hot sex and developing Troy and Erika’s growing feelings outside the bedroom.
I really love Troy and Erika together, which is unusual for me personally because I’m not the biggest fan of age-gap romances–Troy is 24 years old and Erika is 42. But, I do make an exception for my favorite authors and Nikki Sloane never disappoints. I like that this time the story revolved around a younger man and an older woman, which isn’t as common in romance.
The Pool Boy also revolves around the Nashville music scene–Erika is a music agent and Troy is a musician. I like that music was something they had in common and brought them together in a deeper level.
Pick up The Pool Boy if you enjoy age-gap romances, extra steamy reads, books set in the music industry, and just a well-written romance with characters you root for their HEA. You can never go wrong with a Nikki Sloane book, and The Pool Boy is no exception.
Nikki Sloane is a flipping rock star.
Gonna be brutally honest here, I’m not crazy about the woman being older than the man in book. But she’s so awesome I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Troy was dreamy.
I loved Ericka’s character development.
I felt her heartbreak and his long time infatuation.
Highly recommend!
Nikki Sloane
I love trying books from new-to-me authors, especially when the book turns out to be awesome! The Pool Boy was my first book by author Nikki Sloane and is was delightfully sinful and titillating. The relationship between Troy and Erika is somewhat controversial and promotes judgemental opinions from society. In the end, the phrase “Do what makes you happy – Life is short,” is absolutely true. Erika learns to embrace her newfound freedom and the love of a man many years her junior. Troy and Erika prove love comes in many forms and sharing your life with a person who has mutual desires and interests is what fulfills you and makes you complete.
This story really appealed to me because I could relate to Erika. Just because you may be in what some consider ‘the second phase of life,’ doesn’t mean you need to conform to the ideals of society. When love come your way, even unexpectedly, embrace it. Learn to care about you and what makes you happy, not the nosy neighbours. Turns out, Erika’s sexy next door neighbour, Dr. Lowe, also has a story to tell so you can check out that little hottie as well.
The steam level on this book is THROUGH THE ROOF! Erika and Troy quickly become familiar with each other and their secret desires. These desires turn out to be mutual and they are a match made in fantasy heaven.
Author Nikki Sloane mentions in her acknowledgments about how she struggled to write this book during Covid-19, and even though we don’t get to know all the struggles she faced along the way, the end result was phenomenal and I totally recommend this book, especially for women over 40.
Terrific second book in this hot-as-hell series! I loved the first Nashville Neighborhood story and looked forward to more from this outstanding author and her super sexy stories. This one does not disappoint. The reverse age gap is so sexy and the characters are fantastic. Erika as the music executive one the cusp of an ugly divorce after 20 years with the wrong man is a marvel. She’s smart, strong, beautiful and ready to really live after being sexual deprived for so long. And when Troy makes an unexpected appearance? Girl can’t help herself when her pool boy is ready to make her fantasies come true. And what a boy! Well, really a man at 24. He is a spectacular hunk as Erika’a best friend’s son. Whoops! He just too sexy to pass up especially when he is making the moves. I loved that sometimes Troy seemed older than Erika and more experienced. These two are scorching hot and this author really knows how to write a sizzling sex scene. It doesn’t take too long for our couple to find their groove behind closed doors. But keeping things on the down low is difficult in this neighborhood with Troy parents, his best friend, a nosy neighbor and the super sexy doctor and his girl all in close proximity. There’s some drama with Erika’s bestie and Troy mom finding out plus business appearances as Erika helps Troy with his career. The secondary characters are fabulous. I hope Preston gets a story. I can see a sorta age gap with him falling for a 17-year old hottie and forcing him to grow up. He needs it! This is an exciting, easy read with tons of steam and a sweet romance. A must read! I’m ready for more. Bring on the Architect! 4.5 stars
So, The Pool Boy is exactly what I look for when I am looking for a reverse age-gap romance. It’s fast paced, super steamy, forbidden deliciousness. An exciting read if you are looking for a hot, and quick summer weekend read.
We have our beautiful heroine, Erika, who’s worked her fanny off, literally, the last couple of years. She’s been trying to get the attention of her husband of twenty years, sadly unsuccessfully. When she finds out why he’s been not showing her affection, she is devastated. It’s a hard blow y’all. But what I love about her is she’s a strong successful woman. She picks herself up by her bootstraps and moves on with her life.
Her character is loving and young at heart. She’s beautiful and a wonderful person and I love who she is when she’s with Troy. It didn’t matter that she was 42 and Troy was 24 he made her comfortable with her sensuality and brought out her musical creativity that had been dormant for a while.
Troy was the hot young pool boy who had a crush on Erika for the last five years. When fate hands him his chance to have a hot hook up, he takes it. What started out as a secret friend with benefits type situation quickly became so much more, when Erika who is a successful music manager known around Music City, stumbles upon Troy performing at a bar one night, and encourages him to go for his dreams to become a recording and performing artist. Their relationship is complicated. There are several things(I won’t spoil it by disclosing them) working against them, but can Troy and Erika fight the odds in this super steamy reverse age gap romance? Full of great secondary characters and set in the amazing backdrop of Nashville, this is the second standalone novel in Nikki Sloane’s Nashville Neighborhood Series.
My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up :
Don’t miss this reverse age gap romance.
Four Forbidden Stars
This has everything you could possibly want: love, lies, betrayal, secrets, forgiveness.
– Troy and Erika burn up everything from the pool house to the bedroom to the living room. Yes, Yes, Yes!!
Cliffhanger Warning-!!Perfect HEA no cliffy
Your day is totally made when you stumble across a book like this!
I recently discovered Nikki Sloane’s work and let me just tell you, this woman is the bomb! The Pool Boy is my absolute favorite book this year!
When I first started reading this story, I was like every woman needs to read this. Regardless of age, if you’ve had a bad day, down on life, or just need a good pick-me-up story, The Pool Boy is the story you need to read. But as I got deeper into the story, I realized it was more than just a fun, kinky story. There was a great story between Erika and Troy. Together, these two light up the fire and I just couldn’t get enough of them being together. The sizzle between them has got to be some of the best I’ve ever read!
I could only imagine how Erika felt walking in on her (ex)husband, but she didn’t let it stop her from living her best life. Not only did she pull up her big girl pants, but she rocked Troy’s world in more ways than one.
This was the exact kind of story I needed to read, even if it did make my cheeks blush a time or two. Nikki Sloane, thank you for writing a story like this. I am so glad I chose this one as my first read of yours!
First I want to say that I will read ANYTHING from this author. Nikki Sloane became one of my favorite go-to authors since I started reading The Blindfold Series.
She always writes sexy, steamy and sometimes angsty romances that will leave you wanting more.
I knew that The Pool Boy was definitely going to be a taboo read just by the title alone and boy did she NOT disappoint with this book.
What do you do when you catch your husband cheating with the opposite sex??? Of course you divorce him right away. Now it’s time to turn her life around and start enjoying it to the fullest and what better way than to start out with a summer fling with the pool boy right? Except what will her best friend think about her little rendezvous when she finds out who the pool boy is! GAHHH this book had me completely hooked!
It was perfect in every sense of the word and it had just the right amount of steam. A sexy older woman with a hot young guy is definitely a worthy summer read!
If anyone can write a taboo romance with style, humor, and HEAT it is Nikki Sloane. I fell in love with Erika immediately. She is a woman finding herself and going for what she wants. I was worried I would he trouble connecting with Troy because of his age, but I really liked him. He is definitely a young 20-something but you so truly feel the love between him and Erika that the age gap stops being an issue. While I expected the steep age gap to be an ‘issue’, it was by far the focus of the story. There is so much more substance and charm.
