Nothing says happy birthday like catching your husband in a compromising position with his boss. His male boss. Why, hello, midlife crisis. I’m starting over, but this time I’m doing it right. Or at least I’m doing what I want.Taking the day off from work to hang out poolside? Yup. Do I leave the swimsuit in my house? Sure.Does my very hot, twenty-something pool boy happen to catch me naked? Oh, … happen to catch me naked? Oh, yeah, he does. And he likes what he sees… a lot.
My best friend keeps telling me to have a fling and get back out there. But I’m not so sure she meant for me to do it with her son.

Super enjoyable age gap/second chance story. Erika, climbing out after a 20 year marriage gone wrong. Troy, her best friends son and her pool boy has never looked so hot. We can’t, we shouldn’t turned into more and yes, please. When Erika, a music manager, finds out Troy is super talented their relationship takes on another level of complexity. As they explore their feelings for one another, they straddle the line of discretion. Sometimes you just have to jump to grab the happiness you were meant to have. This is a story of creating new beginnings, growth and forgiveness.
“You’re writing again,” I grinned. “After two years.” She drew in a deep breath, “I had music in my head last night.”
The Pool Boy is the PERFECT forbidden summer romance! Nikki Sloane brings the heat, the emotion and romance with this book and I loved every single moment of it!
Erika is newly divorced. Her pool boy just happens to be insanely gorgeous, he is also her best friends son. However, there is an attraction between them. Why not live out the pool boy fantasy? Troy has noticed Erika. He has thought about her a few times in a not so friendly manner, but when he has the chance to make all his dreams come true will he trust her?
I LOVED Erika and Troy’s relationship. Yes, it is forbidden, but the chemistry between them is SCORCHING. You’ll need a dip in the pool after reading these two. I loved that their relationship wasn’t just physical though. Troy has dreams, however, he doesn’t want to be rejected again. Erika’s support of those dreams, her belief that he can succeed, even though he doesn’t see that in himself. However, Erika’s dreams also come back. She has the inspiration she was lacking in the past. Naturally, they both have doubts throughout their relationship, however, they have to both learn to trust each other.
I loved getting a little glimpse of Greg and Cassidy, too! It is always great to see visits from old characters.
The Pool Boy is a MUST READ forbidden, age gap romance!
Jesus take wheel!! So there are 2 ways to read this book. You either read it prepared to pause a lot and jump in a pool of cold water. Or read it besides your significant other with the knowledge that they need to be prepared for you to jump them. It is that filthy and that good.
Troy and Erika may have a lot of years between them but the taboo element of their relationship just makes everything more fun. Hiding and sneaking around with Troy helps Erika discover her true self, the one that’s been dormant. He makes her feel desired and confident. He inspires her. And she helps him reach his full potential. With a bit of hope, he finally has someone to support him and what he wants. What he is capable of, not just what is practical. That they are insatiable in the process is just a mega bonus.
Oh so much hot fun! Loved this! Good story, great characters, fan worthy times, and well written! Seriously, this book has me totally entertained throughout as I cheered for Erika to find her happiness with the delectable, talented Troy. Yum!
To be honest, I’m not a fan of OW/YM tropes, but this one actually wasn’t that bad. A quick steamy read and it does have the issues you would expect from their surrounding friends/family. I actually thought Erika’s unique working background made it perfect for the Nashville area which made sense. It was also unexpected and surprising that Troy delve in the background in which Erika’s career takes place and brought some good extra elements to the story. I still enjoyed this story!
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The Pool Boy is a titilllating forbidden romance story. It was emotional, passionate, and flowed at a good pace. The characters were likeable, and they had so much in common, other then just smoking hot chemistry! You will see some characters from The Doctor, which is the first book in Nashville Neighborhood. I missed it, and had no proboem reading this book. But If The Pool Boy is anything to go by I will be going back and reading it. This is a perfect poolside read.
I’ve been kicking myself since I finished this. Because I finished it too fast and because I’ve clearly been sleeping on this author. This was so HOT. The steam between Erika, a divorcee who’s over 40 and her young stud Troy who not only cleans her pool but is the son of her best friend? The taboo nature, the age gap. I was hooked. And Troy was so sweet. Even with his dirty mouth. I’m about to try diving into their backlist if the other books are anywhere near as steamy as this one. A huge thank you to Valentine PR and the author for the ARC which was provided to me. I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.
I just loved this story! The cover and title make it seem like it will just be this light, fun read. It was that, but it was so much more! The emotion between the characters felt so real! They both had so much depth. I love how naturally their relationship built into something more. Their connection through music was a wonderful experience to read. Troy was the best book boyfriend! I definitely recommend this one!
The Pool Boy surprised me! It was oh so steamy but it also had a really enjoyable story line. Erika is in her forties and starting over and here comes the pool boy fantasy come true with her best friends son. He turns out to have talents outside of pool cleaning which brings the good story line into this book. I love when music is written about in the books I read. This Nashville based book was a great one!
I’ve been waiting for The Pool Boy all summer. That cover has been teasing me forever! Now, honestly older woman/ younger guy books aren’t totally my jam, but Nikki can make any relationship delicious. This was a fun and yummy summer read.
Troy is actually friends with someone from book one in the series. He’s 24, hot, lives in his parent’s pool house, and cleans Erika’s pool. Erika, his MOM’s bff, has just gone through a divorce, and her confidence is a bit shaken, as well as her trust. The naughty scenes in this were fantastic, the locations were alll over the place, and a shower moment……such a dirty filthy way to get clean.
But there’s more than just heat. Music also connects this couple, and it brought another level of interest to their love story. The Pool Boy was everything I expected and hoped it would be, did not disappoint.
This was an amazing read that was rich with emotion and heat. This is the second book in this series and it can totally be read as a standalone but book one, The Doctor was absolutely delicious, so you really might want to check that out. This is a book that I think you see it and you think you already know everything bout it…trust me when I say you don’t. There is a strong storyline here that engages your mind, heart and libido. Steamy times and dirty talk are combined with a feeling of genuineness, poignancy, sweetness, swoon, drama, turmoil and deep emotions to create characters you’ll fall in love with, a couple that will have you swooning and feeling the heat and a romance that proves age is just a number and true love is simply everything! Of my own accord I am posting a sincere review.
A steamy, summer romance! Troy and Erika lit the pages on fire, they were so hot that I needed to kick up the air conditioning just to cool off!
The Pool Boy is not only a smexy, delicious read, it is a story about who is really in your court when the going get tough. It’s also a story that is more than a hot, steamy dip in the pool….with a boy. It’s about believing in your dreams, and not only that, but finding the courage, faith and trust to go after them especially after being crushed by your hopes in the past.
Erika believes in Troy wholeheartedly when he doesn’t believe in himself. Troy was crushed in college when he lost his dream of playing professional baseball. When she happens upon him singing in a bar, (Erika is a manager/agent in the music industry) she knows a good voice when she hears one. Just because he happens to be “dipping in her pool” he doesn’t want to take advantage, but also has lost the confidence to pursue his dreams. Luckily, Erika has all the confidence for him and knows just where to lead.
On the flip side, when it comes to a relationship, Erika, being a recent divorcee, isn’t exactly the most confident on going forth with a relationship with a younger man, especially when her last relationship ended in a crashing disaster. Sure, she loves that Troy is turned on by her, but how long can that last? She’s just that much older than him. Won’t he want someone his own age at some point? Can she really be everything that he needs when he has a lot of living left to do? Filled with doubt does nothing great for her ego, but luckily Troy really shines in bringing forth Erika’s confidence and renewing her glow.
Together these two are a perfect match both in and out of the bedroom, which made this a very enjoyable read and a perfect addition to my overall 2020 must read list!

When I read the blurb for this book, I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to read this story. I went thinking it was going to be an enjoyable read with a lot of dirty scenes with a younger pool boy.
Now don’t get me wrong we did get the hot and steamy scenes with a much younger pool boy, but we got so much more. This book had a lot of emotions and depth to the storyline and characters. Nikki truly gave us characters and a story that wasn’t just one dimensional.
The Pool Boy is the second book I have read by Nikki Sloane. I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable age gap romance. I will say that if you aren’t comfortable with an 18 year gap between the characters, then this probably isn’t the book for you. I found the flow spot on, but I thought the pacing of the story was on the slower side for my liking. I tend to like my stories to move along at a quicker pace. But that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this book.
This is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV. This is the second book in Nikki’s Nashville Neighborhood series, but can be read as a complete standalone. This series, I believe can be read in any order. (I didn’t read the first book and I didn’t fell lost at all.) We do see come characters from the first book, but they don’t play a huge part in this book. Dr. Lowe (Hero in book 1) is Erika’s neighbor.
In this book we follow the trials and tribulations of Troy and Erika. Erika is a 42 yr old woman who is going through a divorce after catching her husband in a compromising position. Troy is a 24 yr old man who is trying to find direction in his life and figure out what he really wants to do. He has also had an attraction to Erika for some time now and when he walks in to clean her pool one day, he is completely surprised to see her there minus her swimsuit. Oh and I meant to mention….Troy is Erika’s BFF’s son!!! Will these two cross the line into something forbidden?? What will happen when their personal life and professional life intersect?? Can these two make it work and get a HEA?? Read this book to find out.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the age gap romance. But don’t let the title and blurb fool you…..this story is much more than just an older woman and her naughty pool boy 😉
I can always count on Nikki Sloane for a red-hot steamy read! POOL BOY looks like the perfect summer escape without even leaving the house 😉
A new book by Nikki Sloane?! Yes, please!
Nikki Sloane delivers another forbidden romance with the next book in her Nashville Neighborhood series just in time for poolside reading. Who doesn’t dream of their own pool boy?
