When Maggie Mitchell, is transported to the thirteenth century Highlands will Laird Logan Carr help mend her broken heart or put it in more danger than before?
Generous, kind, and loving, Maggie nearly always puts the needs of others first. So when a mysterious elderly woman gives her an extraordinary pocket watch, telling her it’s a conduit to the past, Maggie agrees to give the watch a try, if … watch a try, if only to disprove the woman’s delusion.
But it works.
Maggie finds herself in the thirteenth century Scottish Highlands, with a handsome warrior who clearly despises her. Her tender soul is caught between her own desire and the disaster she could cause for others. Will she find a way to resolve the trouble and return home within the allotted sixty days? Or will someone worthy earn her heart forever?

Not your everyday thought on time travel ..but was a goid read nonetheless
I love time travel stories. This was a sweet clean romance about Maggie a nurse from the future that goes back in time over 700 years and meets Logan a Scottish Laird. I loved it more after reading the story behind the story. This was my first time reading anything from Ceci, it won’t be my last
This is a sweet, clean, time travel novella with likable characters. I’m glad to have found this author and series and plan to read more.
I remember watching Warren Beatty’s remake of “Heaven Can Wait” … Leo Farnsworth has been killed, and Joe Pendleton, recently (and incorrectly) deceased is offered the opportunity to take over his body. Taking over someone else’s body – someone else’s LIFE – someone who isn’t using it or CAN’T use it anymore … perhaps a concept like that could be expanded upon, to be explored in more than a 2 1/2 hour movie …
Enter author Ceci Giltenan. In “The Pocket Watch”, Maggie Mitchell is transported back to 13th century Scotland. She has 60 days to live life, and to right any wrongs she finds with her “host body” (my words, not the author’s). However, there are problems. The folks who crippled and almost killed her host are NOT happy to see that she’s up and around – and must decide how best to handle that bit of misfortune (for them, anyway). And the Laird, Logan Carr … is he a temptation to NOT go back at all? Or is he the reason why she should flee back to her own life as soon as possible?? After all, would he even believe what must sound like a far-fetched story, that she comes from a time in the future when some machines fly, and others can travel across the land without a horse or ox pulling it, or …
Ms. Giltenan has created a most interesting concept, and shows the start of an interesting universe. Will she limit herself to modern day lasses moving back in time to Scotland? Or will other eras / lands / genders / etc. open themselves up in future tales? For that matter, is it meant to be a one-way trip, or might individuals from the past travel to the future? Perhaps even trading bodies and lives to “see how the other half lives”? To be seen …
RATING: 4 1/2 stars, rounded up to 5 stars. The book was a bit predictable, at least at a high level – the genre almost calls for that! BUT it kept my interest throughout.
Love Time Travel Romance
Loved the time period.
I really enjoy reading this historical time travel novel. The characters were wonderful and I could picture the settings and the characters. Definitely a good read.
Loved,loved loved this book.
Needs more comparisons to time changes such as what she did for clothing and what she did for medicine
I love Time Travels so this was a perfect read for me, I loved the characters, would like to have seen a little more discussion where Modern character tries to tell the ancient about cool inventions. But it was still great and I loved it!
Clean, cute, short, & easy to read
Really enjoyed this book. It was a light feel good book.
Lots of grammar errors but I enjoyed it
loved the book, great storyline
It was very enjoyable but very quick. Like weeks passed within one sentence. I would’ve enjoyed more character development. Some typos and misuse of some words.
Total fluff…glad it was FREE
Souls trade places in this novel one travels back 700 years in the past
I thought the book was good. Very predictable. You know the beautiful girl and the handsome hunky guy fall in love. If you have read one, you have read them all. Not too much excitement.
A little too Hallmark for me. It would have been nice if there had been a few twists and turns….maybe both ending up in modern day.
