The Poacher’s Daughter is an extraordinary story of betrayal and redemption, set within an uncompromising landscape of raw brutality and unimaginable beauty. It is a novel you won’t soon forget. In 1885 young Rose Edwards is widowed by Montana vigilantes who hang her husband for an alleged theft, then burn her Yellowstone Valley cabin to the ground as a warning for her and others of her kind to … of her kind to quit the territory. Penniless and illiterate, yet fiercely independent, Rose begins a two-year odyssey to revisit the land of her childhood, a land she once traveled with her father, an itinerant robe trader among the Assiniboines and Blackfeet. But the old ways of the hunter and trapper are disappearing as Europeans flood the ranges with vast herds of cattle.
With an aging roan gelding named Albert as her closest friend, Rose becomes a reluctant hero of an indigenous population, both native and white, as she stubbornly pushes back against the invading aristocracy.

Just couldn’t like this book. Never felt like you got to know any of the characters except on superficial level. Nothing ever seemed to work out for main character, moved from one disaster to the next. Surprise twist at the end was the best part.
Really enjoyed it
Enjoyed the characters and suspense
Not my usual type to read, but I got into the story quickly and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Would love to see more of the story in a sequel. What happened to Rose in her new home?
Good read. Lots of history.
Good story,
easy to read
Very good
Live of a determined young lady on her own in a mans world. And taking no nonsense from anybody.
Excellent right till the end!
I felt Rose was too contradictory, physically strong to handle her affairs with some, but drifting along in deciding what she wanted from life and how she should go about her life.
Very good book. This lady was a tough girl.
Great book
A well planned story with historical base of the developing country in the northwest regions. Story was quite moving as well as true to the nature of that period of our history. This author should be watched for other available books as he pens them.
Rose of Yellowstone was one of the most original characters I have encountered. I enjoyed this book immensely. Up to the last sentence. Then it should be the beginning of another sequel to this gutsy woman. Well written and very visual. I had put down quite a few boring novels before I opened this novel. Interesting history of the west woven into it.
If you are a fan of Westerns you will enjoy this book. The characters are beliveable and the story line is excellent. One of the best Westerns I have read lately.
a great read
Slow gathering speed terrific read, not a run of the mill western
Story line left much o be desired. One could almost anticipate what would happen next. I gave up about mid-way through the book,
Would like to see a movie. Depicts how person could become a famous gunfighter without being one. I wanted to follow Rose further.
