Another great book by Linnea May it’s a short story but brilliant nonetheless!
Fast paced, suspense and great chemistry between Keane and Libby.
I would love to read more about them especially Keane he seems to have a past worth reading about one that clearly puts him on the path to the choices he makes during The Plunge. It was a great read that I definitely loved and recommend.
This was a great read. This is quite a rollercoaster read that continued in right through to the ladt page. I loved this book. Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. The book is about Keane and Libby. Keane is a Covey assassin who is assigned to kill the remaining family members of the Abbott criminal organization, and Libby Abbott, the orphaned niece of Clyde Abbott who is the head of the family’s criminal underworld. Libby has been kept unaware of the family’s criminality. The book starts with Libby attending the opening of her uncle’s new building’s gala which ends in bloodshed, the death of her aunt, and the attempted assassination of her uncle who uses her as a shield to protect himself. This book is a definite read and not to be missed.
Keane And Libby Are Outcasts In This Quick Easy Read About The Covey. The Plot Is Fairly Simple. The Cast Of Characters And Organizations Keeps The Story Interesting.
This story follows Keane, a dissatisfied contract killer for the Covey. While the Covey is a secretive crime syndicate that appears in other books by this author, it reads perfectly as a stand-alone.
Elizabeth Caroline Abbott, twenty-two, is the black sheep of the uber wealthy Abbott family. Orphaned at age two, Libby was raised feeling very out of place, so she had resorted to acting out for attention. Sent away to boarding school at fifteen, she is only now making her first return trip home to an aunt and uncle who would rather she stay out of sight. Yet with no other living family remaining, Libby has nowhere else to call home.
Keane, roughly mid-twenties, had been raised in unloving foster homes, but Big George of the secretive Covey organization took him in and offered him a place and a purpose. Keane is now a henchman for the Covey, an organization of outcasts that doesn’t operate within the law. He is a hired killer. But he no longer sees the Covey as a ray of light offering him hope, but as an unwanted duty. He is tired of brainlessly following orders. But the only way out is death. So he planned and saved for months with the hopes of escape after one last job – the Abbott job.
The Abbott family has sat at the helm of a leading crime syndicate in New England for Decades, hiding in plain sight. They appear to be just an ordinarary wealthy and influential family, old money, hosting fundraisers and making business deals. Few know their involvement in the criminal world – not even their entire family knows. The Covey disapproves of their trickery, funneling money raised for hospitals and such, making people believe their intentions are altruistic. So one by one over the course of many years the family has been taken out. Two targets remain: Clyde and Margaret Abbott, husband and wife.
When the plan goes into gear, all chaos breaks out as Keane and his colleagues take their shots. But the girl who caught his attention earlier in the evening and distracted him gets caught up in the melee. Somehow the man she calls uncle, Keane’s target, gets away. But Keane has more trouble than just missing his target for the first time and ruining his clean break from the Covey. If what the girl said is true, then she is an Abbott. And she should rightly be eliminated.
Keane and Libby are outcasts, neither secure in their world and neither rooted by family. Keane can’t turn his back on Libby even though he should. Instead he feels responsible. Libby has no idea why her aunt and uncle were shot at, or even if she had been a target herself. As drawn to Keane as she is, she cannot trust that he won’t eventually turn her over to his organization, even if he personally can’t bring himself to eliminate her. While in hiding, though, their attraction for one another trumps all fear. The couple earns their happy ending.
There are a few issues that merit mention. First it is unclear how Keane sits out following the job. Since he missed his target it doesn’t ring true. Second, since Libby is in danger once her identity is known to the Covey, it is unclear why Keane didn’t simply leave her behind in a spot where she would easily be found by first responders. Her identity wasn’t known to the Covey but his attention brought her closer to danger. Her identity would likely have remained unknown, at least for a while.
Keane and Libby’s story is a quick easy read. The plot is fairly simple. The cast of characters and organizations keeps the story interesting. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Keane and Libby. I rate this book 3.5 stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An action-packed dark romance novella. I did wish the story was longer and we got about the Covey a bit more as well as the characters. This short story was well written and kept me turning the pages throughout the story.
I received a free ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
**This story was originally published as Cards of Love: The Tower, a multi-author series**
Keane is an assassin who has a plan – one last job and he’s out. That job didn’t include saving the last surviving member of the Abbott family. Now they are both in danger and on the run. Libby and Keane’s story is a steamy, romantic page turner. I enjoyed this story very much.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
An instant attraction turns into fear. A shootout where Libby get hit twice and her uncle uses her as a shield.
What a start!
Keane gets disturbed in his mission to kill his target, after seeing Libby. He ends up taking her with him when he leaves.
Wow, it was hard to do anything else than read.

An absolutely amazing short but instense love story!
Keane and his team of Covey hitman are sent to assassinate the last two Abbots and 3 of their business associates. Libby is the “secret” Abbot, rejected and hidden by her family for most of her life. She, unfortunately is at the gala where the “hit” is to take place. Four of the targets are taken down, but Clyde Abbot, Libby’s uncle uses her as a human shield, escapes and she is accidentally shot…by Keane. He takes her to a safe house, nurses her back to health, and discovers her secret. The book is well paced, has some great twists, and some sizzling, steamy action as well. Another great read by Linnea May.

A story with suspense, mystery, twists and turns and danger at every corner. Not a typical Linnea book but, still good. Great book that will keep your interest.
This title is aptly named as I plunged into this action packed story and didn’t come up for air until the last page.
Keane is an assassin for the secret group the Convoy; which May readers are familiar with this organization. He is to take out anyone with the last name Abbott.

Linnea May – The Plunge
Fast paced, packed with emotion and fuelled by sexual chemistry, Keane and Libby’s story is well worth a read!
Keane and Libby are brilliantly written characters, one wandering through life, trying to distance herself from the past and one deeply unhappy and trying to escape the present! Their two worlds collide and the fallout is incredible.

This was definitely a really great, fast paced and thrilling rollercoaster ride of a love story that doesn’t stop until the last page! This story is intense, thrilling, suspenseful and very sexy. It will keep you on edge of your seat from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
This thriller is named The Plunge because the assassins of the Covey plunge off the newly opened Abbott Tower using hang gliders into the night city lights. But wait. What’s this? Keane, the last man off the roof has a seriously wounded Abbott strapped to himself–Libby Abbott. Is he trying to save her or get unexpected bonus money for bringing in an Abbott they weren’t aware of? Just the beginning of this great romance! Recommended read.
Go on. You know you want to.
Take the plunge.
This is a fast paced, quick, dark read.
Keane has one last kill and he’ll be free.
Only, punk princess Libby is throwing him off his game as he’s about to pull the trigger.
He’s keeping her.
