How can someone so smokin’ hot be so bad in bed? I mean, Sean Cassidy is absolute rubbish. RUBBISH. He is the epitome of walking, talking false advertising and I want a refund! Plus he’s an arsehole. So… what is wrong with me that I can’t stop thinking about him? THE PIXIELucy Fitzpatrick doesn’t like rugby. As the little sister of Ireland’s most infamous rugby player, Lucy can’t seem to escape … can’t seem to escape the championship-sized shadow cast by her big brother, or her mother’s frequent attempts to micromanage her future. Her rainbow hair is as free-spirited as her quest for inner peace, yet overbearing expectations keep bringing her down. And when she’s down, her compulsive little problem lands her in seriously big trouble.
THE PLAYER
Sean Cassidy is a cold-hearted brute… or so he’s been told. Frequently. By everyone.
His blonde locks, baby blues, and rock hard bod make ladies the world over drool with desire. As the rugby world’s second most infamous player, he should be basking in his success. But Sean has never been content settling for second place, and his frequent confrontations with Lucy’s big brother leave him cold. And when he’s cold, his compulsive little problem lands him in the lap of Lucy Fitzpatrick.
THE PLAN
Sean has a problem only Lucy can solve. Lucy has a problem only Sean can fix. The solution seems obvious: you scratch my back, and I’ll bail you out of jail. But when their business arrangement unexpectedly leaves Sean scorching hot and Lucy on the precipice of inner peace, can they convince the world—and Lucy’s big brother in particular—that this is the real deal?
Either way, both the Player and the Pixie are about to teach each other some pretty monumental lessons about family, life, but most importantly, love.
The Pixie and the Player is a full-length, romantic comedy novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the second book in the Rugby Series.

This book is totally amazing, both Sean and Lucy are just perfect! Both authors have done excellent work in this romantic comedy that’s guaranteed to make you swoon, laugh, weep and just plain have a big silly grin all throughout.
This was so fun. I loved Lucy’s inner insecurities and brave facade and how she was a juxtaposition of fun and funky and a bit awkward. I loved getting to know Sean and I fell a little bit more in love with him every time we learned something new about his past and inner monologue.
Probably one of the most boring, not hot sports related romance novel I’ve read/listened to this year.
Probably also one of the first where “the player” doesn’t have “all the skills”, if you know what I mean…
I have read and reread most of Penny Reid’s/ L.H. Cowway’s books. They are amazing. So entertaining, romantic, heartwarming & funny. Always look forward to their upcoming books. As well as all Penny’s other books. Neanderthal Seeking Human was the first I read and have been hooked ever since.
This is my first-time reading Penny Reid or L.H. Cosway and I loved this book! Book two in the Rugby series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone with each book about a different rugby player and the secondary characters the same throughout the series. Full length told in dual POV with HEA. Lucy & Sean are an unlikely pair, but boy do they bring out the best in one another. Their story is sweet & a little steamy, just perfect! I highly recommend, and I will be reading more in the series!
I had difficulty stopping reading this book and going to bed. I kept turning pages and telling myself one more page. Then when I looked up it was an hour later. I’ve been a big fan of Penny Reid’s for a while. And I absolutely love this series she has written with L H Cosway. In the story Lucy and Sean fall for each other. However, Sean happens to be her brother’s number one enemy on and off the rugby field. So this fun story is how they overcome that whopping obstacle and admit their love for each other. Oh and Sean isn’t that great in bed and he knows it.
It was a fun read
Great read!
I love these authors and try to read everything they write.
Very entertaining and creative
Truly heartwarming and frustrating all in one. Well written, I could not put it down!!
Fun read.
Unfortunately, I tried real hard to get into this story as I enjoy a Penny Reid book. I gave up after chapter 5. A hero who held no charm and a heroine with kleptomania….not for me
Very different than you typical sports story. Not everyday you find a hot guy who is horrible in bed and needs and instructor. At least that’s the way the story starts out. Don’t want to be a spoiler, but how they get to the HEA is the best part.
A unique plot! Who would imagine main characters with kleptomania? I enjoyed the story of star rugby player Sean Cassidy and Lucy Fitzpatrick. So much that I’ve already purchased the next in the series. Luckily, this one and the fourth were complimentary from Bookbub!
A twist on enemies to lovers, written by 2 authors. I’m familiar with Penny Reid and love her writing She always has quirky characters with witty banter. Those type characters are in this book but more subtle. I’m guessing that is Cosway’s influence, as well as athletes as characters. These two compliment each other and produce a seamless narrative.
The twist? Hot dude is NO good in bed and needs hippy girl to teach him how to do it right. Our girl is a great teacher and our boy is sincere and a quick study. So, if explicit sex is NOT your deal ,walk away.
I enjoyed the book and the fringe characters too. I would like more of Broadrick’s story.
One of the best books I’ve read this year! He’s a little autistic, not from birth, but the way he was raised. His parents died when he was little and his snobbish aunt and uncle raised him to be an athlete. No love or affection, just prove that you are worthy of living with us! She’s a sweet girl whose mother must be related to the devil. These two poor souls find what they’re missing with each other. Funny and intelligent, this book keeps you reading until the end. The story has stayed with me for quite a while! Read it!
Too much profanity and only about sex. Did not finish.
I loved this book, especially since I am an avid Rugby fan! Fun characters w/great personalities, good character development & family relationships. Loved the love story!
Sweet, multi-faceted characters with flaws. The Player is sooooo wonderful and charming… a misunderstood hero.
