She’s no Sleeping Beauty. And he’s definitely no prince . . . Margot McCleery could have lived her whole life without seeing Bentley Wellington again-her ex-best friend and the poster boy for Hot, Rich Man-Whores everywhere. But Margot’s whiskey-augmented grandmother “buys” Bentley at a charity bachelor auction, and now suddenly he’s at her door. Impossibly charming. Impossibly sexy. And still a … Impossibly sexy. And still a complete and utter jackass.
Bentley’s just been coerced by his grandfather to spend the next thirty days charming and romancing the reclusive red-haired beauty who hates him. The woman he abandoned when she needed him the most. Bentley knows just as much about romance as he knows about love-nothing. But the more time he spends with Margot, the more he realizes that “just friends” will never be enough. Now all he has to do is convince her to trust him with her heart . . .

Review:
I’ve had this book on my tbr for a while but never had the urge to pick it up. I wasn’t amazed with the first book in this series so when this one came out I wasn’t in a rush to read it. I’m glad I read it though. It’s a good story and it deals with allot of heavy stuff.
What is this book about:
This book is about Margot and Bentley. They where close friends when they grew up and Margot always had a thing for Bentley but she thought Bentley didn’t have the same feelings for her.
Their friendship suddenly changed when Margot got in a horrible accident that cost her allot. She and Bentley never spoke again after that until her crazy grandmother put a plan in order forcing them to be together again for a while.
Margot doesn’t want to get close to Bentley again because she knows he would leave at some point. But she can’t deny the attraction between them….
What did I like/love:
I loved that this book dealt with heavy subjects like disability, anxiety and loss. I also liked the banter between Margot and Bentley. The man can be really charming if he wants to. I really felt for him and the live’s he’s had. Money doesn’t always mean there’s no struggle.
What did I dislike/hate:
Nothing really comes to mind.
Rating:
4 I liked it stars
I loved this book. If you like angst and second chance at love stories, this one is a good one! Both these characters are so broken, but I love them together.
I haven’t read a Rachel VanDyken book in a long tome and this one did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the three brothers. Bentley and Margot are great characters and so untrusting. Their’s is a friends to lovers and second chance romance. It’s worth the risk.
A playboy in shining armor
I loved this book. Reformed Playboy turning into the knight in shining armor. Margot and Bentley started out as best friends until the day of the tragic accident that changed everything for both of them. Margot would hide out, never leaving her house and Bentley drank and slept his way through his pain. Now thanks to a charity auction, where Margot’s grandmother won Bentley to spend the weekend with Margot, their paths cross again. They both have so many emotions to deal with from the past, anger, hurt, and anxiety to name a few. Also attraction for each other still there and still strong. This book was
hot and steamy, but oh so sweet. I love all of the characters and can not wait to see what is in store for Brant!!
Bentley can sure get under Margot’s nerves at times, the man really is cocky, “…besides, I bet you always wanted me as a roommate… think of all the benefits. I can wash your back in the shower, scratch any… itches you may have—” Bentley can be considerate, when it works in his favor, “and if you’re having trouble deciding what to wear, just go naked… that’s the new rule. I don’t want to stress you out with hard decisions.” He made sure to draw out the word hard.” Bentley has an answer for everything, “no.” He slapped her ***. “I had sex with you because I love you and because I could see your nipples through your T-shirt.” He grinned shamelessly. “And you looked cold, so what type of gentleman would I be if I didn’t do my best to warm you up? And everyone knows that skin-to-skin contact is the best way to do that, so basically, I just saved your life.” Good God I love these brothers and the women that bring them to their knees. One of my favorite series by Rachel.
When a life altering accident changes the course of Margot McCleery’s carefully planned life she has trouble seeing past it, and struggles to find a healthy way to overcome the loss she was dealt. Instead of facing it head on, she chooses to retreat into herself, and spends her time hidden away from the outside world, working on her romance novels. Her meddling grandmother is constantly trying to drag her out of her secluded little world, but so far nothing seems to encourage her to step outside the confines of her home, so her grandmother decides it is time for drastic measures. She wants Margot to let go of the hurt and experience joy again, and the last time she saw that on her granddaughters face was when her best friend was still in her life, so grandma decides it’s time for him to make a reappearance in her life, and finds a very creative way to make it happen!
Bentley Wellington is spiraling down a path of destruction, cycling through countless woman, and tons of booze, and his grandfather can’t bare to see him ruin his life any longer, so he decides to intervene. There is a spot open at the family business that is perfect for him, but in order for him to get the job he must show his grandfather that he is worthy of the opportunity. So with the help of a special friend, his grandfather devises the perfect plan for Bentley to follow, not only will it help him clean up his act, but also help him land the job he wants! Now he just has to find the courage to face the girl that has been haunting his dreams for the past few years…
Thoroughly enjoyed this one, it stirred the emotions, made me smile, and touched my heart!! It had everything a good romance novel should have; captivating story line, characters with undeniable chemistry, and lots of blush-worthy moments! This is a well written series, with each book centering around a different brother on his quest to find love. They can be read as standalone titles, but I have a feeling after reading one, you’ll be dying to get your hands on the next book! Highly recommend them, their sure to leave you with a happy heart!!
I’ve really loved this author since I got hooked on her Eagle Elite series a few years ago. I was more than excited to give this book a shot once I saw that it was by her.
This book is the second in a series that I’ve not read any of before. That’s usually a no-no for me but I’m doing it more and more often lately. I kind of wish that I hadn’t. This book IS a stand-alone but I think that my reading experience would have been enriched greatly if I had read the first book. I think that’s just because while I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, I also felt like I didn’t know the characters as well as I could have. I mean, who wouldn’t want a little more Bentley, right?
Bentley was a fascinating character. It’s not often that you read a romance novel with an intense anxiety angle and it’s SUPER not often that the character with anxiety is male. I think that the author was really able to show how anxiety can be crippling and have a massive impact on someone’s life. It was interesting to watch Bentley interact and cope with the issue that caused his anxiety to begin with. I really couldn’t get enough of this man. And our leading lady, Margot was this reclusive firecracker that was equally as captivating. These two together were positively explosive. Bentley brought out the worst in our little stubborn Margot.
The story read very quickly. I don’t know if it was because the characters were so completely intriguing or if it was just an all-around great book … probably a bit of both. You just get hooked from the very first page and it doesn’t let up until the very last period. Such a great romance novel. One that I’d read again. And the list … the list was adorably hilarious. I would read the book again just to experience that list again.
