With this author, you can expect some steam, exciting story-line and an HEA. This book is no exception. In the life of a professional footballer/soccer player, there are plenty of women and parties. With Liam, it was no exception. He didn’t expect to meet “his woman” in a medical clinic. This is an exciting read and meant for adults.
I really enjoyed this book, it was very HOT to get to know each and every move that the two characters Liam & Olivia made 🙂 Can’t wait to read more by Author J.H. Croix 🙂 *****5 STARS*****
I was in the mood for a great sports romance, and this one hit the mark. Olivia and Liam had great chemistry and the forbidden aspect of her being his doctor was spot-on.
I liked the story, but was bothered from the beginning that the cover model is clearly blonde and yet his character had very dark hair. This is the second book this month I have read where the cover doesn’t match the description of our leading character(s). I know, first world problem, but this isn’t hard to do.
Fast pace and full of excitement. Olivia and Liam book is hot and steamy. Won’t be disappointed.. He’s a footballer/soccer player and she’s his surgeon. Instant attraction, love the back and forth and the characters. Can’t wait to read the he next book.
Wow, a sexy British footballer and buttoned up orthopedic surgeon have sparks flying the moment they meet in her office! Liam has torn his meniscus and is seeking surgical consult from Olivia. He flirts relentlessly, but she has no intention of acting on it. From start to finish, this book is filled with sexual energy and off the charts chemistry! This book is a first in series(stand-alone) and I am excited to see where this goes! I believe Liam & Olivia are truly just the beginning! Check out this sexy opposites attract story today!
I enjoyed this book, I just don’t think i LOVED this book. That being said, nothing that the author did was off putting, I just didn’t connect well with the H/h. But the writing was top notch, the storyline flowed wonderfully and I liked the taboo of the Dr./Patient relationship. All in all it was a good book.
Be careful as this book just might set your eReader on fire. Liam is a hot British footballer(soccer player) who has recently signed on to play for the Seattle Stars along with some of his other teammates. He is still trying to get over the recent death of his mother and his recent move when he is sidelined by a knee injury. This is where Dr. Olivia Bowen enters this story and where the sparks begin to fly. The attraction between Liam and Olivia is almost instantaneous, but Olivia is not about to break the rules nor jeopardize her career besides “relationships are boring”. Liam on the other hand can’t resist wanting to prove Olivia wrong in her assessment, but he does agree after giving her one heart-stopping kiss to wait until she is no longer his surgeon before going full out in his pursuit. That one kiss not only confuses Olivia but also has her rethinking her “relationships are boring” mantra. As things between Liam and Olivia start to heat up even more they will have to deal with several obstacles on their way to a future together that is if they even want a future together. This story is full of steam, angst, misunderstandings, the media and well meaning friends. I loved every minute of reading it and look forward to reading more in the series.
Let me start by saying I’m not a big fan of sports romance, BUT, I have read and enjoyed other books by this author so, I’m in. this book is written in first person, alternating point of view format, not my favorite but it totally works in this book. The Play is an exciting sports romance by J.H. Croix. Ms. Croix has delivered a well-written book. I loved the characters in this story! Professional soccer player Liam is injured and the team doctor insists on the best for his surgery. Olivia is the doctor that does the surgery on Liam’s leg. Olivia and Liam’s story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle and misunderstandings. I enjoyed reading The Play and look forward to reading more from J.H. Croix in the future. The Play is book 1 of the Brit Boys Sports Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book hooked me on J.H. Croix: Raw, realistic, sizzler!
Not sure where I’ve been … and how I’ve missed Ms. Croix’s books, but I’m now out of the dark side!
This book hooked me on the author and I’m following her on multiple platforms. Why? This book is an example.
Her writing is realistic and chock-full of strong characters and stories that will make you forget about your daily activities.
This book has been on my reread shelf since I read it and I’m finally getting around to reviewing in. Why? Olivia and Liam.
Both are well developed characters that grow with each other. Liam is singularly focused on helping Olivia to overcome her resistance and to question the strong rigid rules she’s self-imposed. Woven throughout the book is a slow burn romance with multiple, sizzling flashpoint throughout the story. The story is well written, shifting from one point of view to the other. It has a HEA in the best possible way.
As I mentioned at the start of this review, this book hooked me for J.H. Croix. Download this now. I immediately downloaded Alex’s story, Big Win, which I’ve reviewed as well. So, my suggestion is that you download this now!
I was not paid to write this review, nor am I a writer. I took the time out of my life to write this because I wanted to share this book (and the author) with other readers!
Very fun read with realistic consequences.
Liam and Olivia are great together. Really enjoyed their story and the supporting characters were also well developed. Definitely recommend.
3.5 stars: Enjoyed the sports romance and forbidden doctor/patient relationship situation. Though, I do wish we got to see a little more depth in their relationship development. Because of that lack of depth, it felt a bit insta-love to me. Otherwise, well written with some minor typos. First time reading from this author and would read another book from her again.
Great chemistry between soccer player and doctor.
I read it twice.
Love j h croix books
This was my first JH Croix book, but I loved it so much I purchased the rest of the series. Can’t wait!
This book was difficult to read, because the main characters were frustrating. Liam never listened to Olivia when she talked about her professional boundaries, clearly having zero respect for her or them. He came off as gross and rapey. Olivia gives in and acts like an idiot blushing all over the place, and sleeps with him. There has to be a better way to tell this story. I’m possibly biased, because I’m turned off by alpha male nonsense or parole who attempt to dominate others, but still. Rapey and gross.
This is the 1st book I read by JH Croix. This book’s story line was okay. I liked the sports theme in this story. I liked the hot & steamy scenes. I liked Olivia & Liam’s characters. I liked the ending.
4 stars:
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel The Play { Brits Boys Sports Romance}: Liam and Olivia by J. H Croix and this review was given freely.
Wonderful and supportive friends and colleagues fill the pages of this easy flowing story that contains a fair amount of conflict in the form of introverted and career focused orthopedic surgeon Dr. Olivia Bowen and her doubts about becoming involved with a former patient who also happens to be in the public’s eye.
28 year old British football now Seattle Stars, USA soccer player and flirt Liam takes up the challenge to show Olivia what she has been missing sexually only to find his heart involved.
