Princess Zhang Mei wanted an adventure before she is married off to the prince across the river. It was ordained by her ornery great grandmother (a spirit) who foretold that she would cross paths with a foreign man of royal blood who will be the father of her child. She goes to visit with her brother Prince Haun of and her intended isn’t exactly enthused by her presence. When she mistakenly thinks Jarek and his men are kidnapping servants from the palace she sets off after them and tries to stop them. When she is taken on board she quickly becomes part of the crew, joining in on their adventures.
This story was great and Mei is totally kickass for a princess!! She is no retiring wallflower but is willing to put duty before love. Jarek is alpha badass at its best. The camaraderie between the crew is excellent and feels like any family does, sibling rivalry but when the chips are down its them against the universe!!! Fab end to the Var lords series!
