He’s the biggest, baddest, most spider-fearing motherpucker on the ice… of the rink. I don’t come early, but I come often, if you know what I mean. And I always leave the ladies wanting more.
Until that chick last night.
I’m no one-thrust wonder, and you’re damn right I’m going to prove to her I can do better. But every time I think I’m finally on my way back into her pants, she one-ups and out-balls me.
I should cut my losses, lick my wounds, and walk away.
But Zeus Berger doesn’t walk away from anything.
Especially when she’s the only woman in the world who might be able to handle me.
The Pilot and the Puck-Up is a standalone romantic comedy featuring a hockey player whose ego is the only thing bigger than his shoe size, the most badass woman to ever fly a plane, rubber chockey (don’t ask), and no cheating or cliffhangers.

Ahhhh Zeus . Joey is tough and overprotective of her sister. Initially she is hard to understand. By the time they were playing golf though I was well and truly in stitches. She became my hero. I love a story for its escapism and this delivers! It’s not to be taken seriously but to bring love and laughter.
I love Pippa Grant’s stories!
First romance novel I’ve read that has not one, BUT TWO instances of pre-ejacultion. Did NOT see that coming (pun not intended)! Can’t wait to read Ares book!!!
This one had me giggling all over the place, I couldn’t put it down. So glad these were highly recommend in a fb group I’m in. I’m having fun binging on these books. I’m moving on to the next one!
Since I started binging this series, I was most excited for the Berger twins.
Zeus, king of the gods, who’s deathly afraid of spiders. Joey, the hardcore pilot who doesn’t seem at all impressed by Zeus Berger. This book had me crying laughing pretty much the entire time I was reading it. I couldn’t put it down!!
Book Review: The Pilot and The Puck-Up
Author: Pippa Grant
FIVE STARS
Amazingly funny. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe how much I want to know these people in real life.
Zeus Berger is one of the biggest men in professional hockey and he loves what he does. Along with his twin brother Ares and some of his great friends, they rule the ice. There is nothing he loves more than hockey and there is nothing before it…. UNTIL HER.
Josephine Diamonte, AKA Fireball, is a former military pilot and now she owns her own flight business called Weightless, a Zero Gravity plane. She has hopes to expand to more and get into Space-X with NASA.
Joey not known to be at all intimidated by anyone, quickly puts Zeus in his place and this intrigues Zeus as he has never had to work to get the attention of any female.
The chemistry between Zeus and Joey throughout the whole book is just AMAZING. I want so much more now that I have finished The Pilot and the Puck-Up.
The next book for me to read is Beauty and the Beefcake which is Ares’s story. SWOON!!

Oh lord this book and these Berger twins were hilarious!! I’m really enjoying these Pippa Grant books. One of my favorite genres is romcoms and she’s got those going on! Although I did miss one book before this one I didn’t feel like I missed anything much. So these are stand alones but I do want to read it. Now back to Zeus and Joey. Zeus is one of the Berger twins, built like a small building and plays hockey. And the crack up and kicker of the twins. Joey aka Fireball is a pilot. And a no nonsense woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone and has bigger balls than most men. No one has ever put Zeus in his place besides his family. But fireball sure does and he can’t get her out of his head. And Joey gives in to Zeus and that’s never happened before. Men has never knocked her off her game. And out of her head space when she’s supposed to be working. But neither one of them want relationships. But can’t stay away from each other either and the antics they get up to along the way is so funny. I loved seeing how this all played out. Now I really want Ares to have a book!!! I recommend this book!!! – By Tina
Genre: Romance – Comedy, sports
Standalone: Yes – but even better if you’ve read Pippa Grant’s other books
Part of a Series: Not officially but all of her books have interconnecting characters
POV: Zeus and Joey (aka Fireball)
Steam Level: Quite warm
4.5/5
This is the second book I’ve read by Pippa Grant and I like her style so much I’ve bought all the others. This book was both light but emotional, dealing with issues in such a way that you don’t even realize it. I absolutely loved Zeus and Fireball (and Aries and Bailey). Zeus is ginormous and loud and people think of him as a dumb jock but he’s really a giant teddy bear. A giant teddy bear who’s terrified of spiders, loves boy bands, reads romance and is sweet, loving, and loyal to those closest. Fireball is prickly, but only to protect herself and her sister from hurt. I just love the chemistry between these two. I stayed up way too late to finish this book and had to let it marinate before being able to review it. If you’re in the mood for fast-talking sass mixed with determination, love and coitus interuptus then The Pilot & the Puck-Up is the book for you.
I can honestly say that I loved The Pilot & the Puck-Up. Although the first book I’ve read in this series I’ve already gone back and 1-C’d the first two books from Pippa Grant.
Zeus and Joey were were funny together and when they finally got on the same page they were perfect for each other. Both hide behind a mask and a lot of bluster and show while at the same time being lonely and a bit vulnerable when anyone sees behind the facade!
This book was funny, hot, sweet, a little heart twisting but it was worth it to get to where this pair ended up. With a whole cast of great supporting characters – and yeah, even though I now know who some of the couples are, it’s not gonna detract from my enjoyment of the earlier books I’m sure.
I cannot wait for more from this crazy gang of ice hockey players and their soon to be other halves as well as looking forward to catching up with the already matched pairs!
For me, TP&tP-U gets 5 well deserved stars.
Loved the characters!
Zeus Bergher is a 6’9” 350 pound muscle bound hockey player we met in Mr. McHottie and Studs in the Stacks. He meets his match in Joey, an ex-special ops pilot. Joey is running a company that provides people with enough cash a ride on a “vomit comet”. This is bawdy fun. If you want a sweet heroine and a noble alpha, this probably isn’t your book. If you want to laugh, and then shake your head, because you really shouldn’t be laughing, this is your book. I rated this a 4, rather than a 5 because Zeus was too much of a caricature in the first half of the book. The last half, I felt that Zeus became a fully developed character.
This crazy book had me laughing from the first sentence! Such an entertaining read. I loved the storyline & the amazing characters.
