I loved this book and the ones that followed. It was a fascinating tale of how cathedrals got built way back when and about the politics of the day.
Best series ever!
One of my top ten, I have recommended it many times. Men who don’t read, finished and truly enjoyed it.
Consummate Follet writing. Intriguing, detailed and expertly done. Wonderful read!
Overlong, over emotional, nothing good happens to any of the protagonists (in fact, most die bad deaths) left the book three quarters in.
Fantastic read.
Excellent
One of the best books I’ve ever read.
One of the most outstanding books that I have ever read.
My favorite Follet book about the era when the great stone cathedrals were designed and built. Learned a lot about the inspiration for the design and engineering challenges before we had modern equipment and tools. Also learned about lost art of stone carving so central to cathedral construction. Great read.
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It has been a few years since I have read it but I remember I could not put it down. I never read a book twice but l am considering reading Pillars of the Earth again that is how much I enjoyed it. I hate history but always seem to love it in story from.
One of the best books ever written.
Pillars of the Earth was an instant favorite for me. I only discovered this book after reading the Century Trilogy. The characters take on a life all their own and you are taken back into history learning much along the journey as it unfolds. I loved this story and need to read it again.
Took me into a world I knew nothing about and delivered one of the best reads of my life. A true epic!
Very interesting and intriguing view of life long ago, but still points out characteristics that hold tru today
Mesmerizing!
Everyone loves this book but I cannot get interested in it and have tried 3 times!!!
One of his best books, certainly the best of the series.
It’s a long book, but I enjoyed it very much and learned a bit about architecture and that time period.
Magically intriguing mixture of adventure, progress, and romance.
