Somebody once said we don’t decide who we love. The world decides for us. But I disagree.I believe love is a decision.Who we love, how we love. It’s in our control–in our hands.I grew up having no clue about the true meaning of love. Money. Cars. Houses. Status. Fame. That’s what love means to the people around me.It wasn’t until the woman I picked up in a bar came back into my life and showed me … came back into my life and showed me love can be so much more.
So, what’s the problem?
The woman I’m falling in love with believes in fairytales. She compares everything to a storybook and wants the happily-ever-after.
So while she’s stuck on recreating stories that have already been told, page by page, I’m showing her it’s time we write our own book.
Nobody ever said the journey of falling in love would be easy, just that it would be worth it.
The Pickup is a standalone sports romance

Such a cute book! I loved it. A perfect book of a surprise pregnancy, a girl who wants to find a perfect Prince Charming and a boy who will do anything to prove he can do and be everything to his new family.
I may be the first of many when I say that this book did not make me “feel all the feels”. I wasn’t jumping up and down, sad, angry, heartbroken, full of angst and not once did I want to throw my kindle against the wall and smash it. But sometimes you dont need all of that in a good book.
In the best way possible, this story was simple and heartfelt as a whole. A nice feel good read that you didn’t have to overly think, figure out tons of clues or who did what. It didn’t leave me wondering with the turn of a page how my emotions would feel next…(until the last page of the book of course 😉 darn you Nikki haha)
Nick and Olivia were true to form as how one may react to the situation they were put in, because of how they were raised and their views on life, love and family. When you bring together 2 polar opposites and force them to deal with each other in a way they never imaged, there are only a few outcomes. Each time they encountered each other and “went to battle” you weren’t quite sure how they would come out the other side and the story had you rooting for their HEA. Even a**holes can have a change of heart right? lol
There is something to be said about influences in ones life and Nick’s influences just needed to be from the right people at the right time. Olivia was that influence splash of cold water that he needed even if she stormed in on him in the most unconventional of ways.
**ARC REVIEW**
Nikki, Nikki, Nikki!!!! Ahhhh I just wanted to go through this book and hug Nick and at the same time torture his parents!!!
Can someone have the worst luck in Love? At the same time have the worst parents? Who only think of themselves and not about the well being or happiness of their only son!
Nick is a star football player who believes in Love and not in the wealth his parents are drowned in. Going through the worst experiences in relationships and his career on hold. He puts love in the back burner and starts a new take on life. Live to Live and forget about love! In the process he meets Olivia and she’s like no other.. After their one night he gets a taste of what he’s been doing and Olivia is gone… She’s gone with something unexpected…
After an accidental meet several months later… It all starts…
This book is full of all kinds of feels! Steamy scenes and complicated situations. You will get hooked from Page 1!!!
So in love with Olivia and Nick… Can’t wait for Book 2 Giselle & Killian!
The Pickup by Nikki Ash was AHHHHMAZING!!!!! I normally do not read sports romances, but I’m so glad I read this one!!!! Nikki is a superbly talented author and really brought it with this book!!!! I loved it!!!! I will definitely read more of her work!!!!!
Nikki has done it again! This book was by far in my opinion one of the best books she has written thus far. If you have ever read one of her books you will love this trust me. If you haven’t why not start with this one?
I was absolutely blown away with Nick and Olivia’s story. It definitely gave you all the feels and made you believe that everyone can have the fairytale type of love lots of us hope for.
Nick and Olivia meet in a club and spend the night together. The next morning Nick wakes up to nothing but a goodbye note. Months later Nick and Olivia come face to face once again and Nick’s in for a surprise that will change his life. Will Olivia get the happily ever aftet shes always hope for or does that only happen in fairytales.
A solid 5 stars from me for The Pick Up and I can’t wait to read Giselle and Killian’s story next.
I was really excited to read this book because I’m huge football fan and I love sport romances .This book has all the quintessential Nikki Ash elements: humor, some soft of twist that you don’t see coming, lovable main characters, intriguing secondary characters and swoon worthy heroes. Nick is a unicorn that you don’t usually see in romance, he’s believes in love and actively seeks but, in all the wrong places. Like Nick, Olivia is seeking love but, she wants the fairytale. I absolutely loved Nick and Olivia’s chemistry it was explosive. I really liked that this was such fun, heartwarming read. Eagerly awaiting for the next book in this series.
Nikki Ash book never disappoints you. Swooning so hard over Cole!!!!! Eeekkk they are just the cutest couple ever. I mean don’t get me wrong Cole was kinda of a jerk to Liv for a bit but phew thank goodness that boy settled and fast lol But OMG I can’t wait for Giselle and Killian O DIOS!!!
********SPOILER ALERT*********
This was such a great book!!!! If i could Star it more then 5 i would. I loved Nicks playboy attitude through the book. Olivia was a self sufficient girl. So when they had an amazing night and she left and went back home to Paris it kind of set Nick off balance. No one ghosts him!!! It’s funny how small worlds they live in that they come back face to face and find it not only is Olivia Coach’s daughter but she’s pregnant!!! When i say sh$t storm in the making it was! I loved the storyline and the banter. The HEA was great to read i loved to see the stand up man he became. Overall amazing read!!!
I was a little on the fence at the beginning of this one, but by the time I truly got to know the characters, I had to know what was going to happen. And if you know anything about Nikki Ash, the twist in the story is something she would TOTALLY love to put into a story 😉
Okay, so Mr. Football (Nick) comes off as a pretty huge jerk in the beginning. He doesn’t seem to want to take responsibility for his actions and seems a little callus. Fortunately, via the glimpse in the prologue, I just knew there had to be more to him. If not, I was going to be messaging the author with giving me such false hope! Ultimately, when he realizes that the woman he wants in his life has an even more rose-colored hope for her love story, he has to change.
What I loved about this story was that it wasn’t a fairytale. Yes, you read that correctly. I am a Disney Princess at heart (heck, my name is even Jazmyne) and I totally love a good fairytale, BUT I am so glad that theirs wasn’t the picture perfect version. These two had to create their own story and show each other that living life with the right person is a fairytale itself.
“… I’m choosing to love my way, with my heart. And if you give me a chance, I would love to love you the same way.”
Meeting some of the supporting characters has me intrigued. I’m now totally absorbed into this world and everyone, I mean EVERYONE *side eyes Nikki* better be getting their story!
This is one of those books you start and can’t put down! The characters grabbed my attention immediately and left me wanting more. Nikki has done it again amazing story
I could not put this one down. Nick and Olivia pulled me into their story that’s filled with emotional moments and times where you cannot help but swoon over Nick. Nick has been brought up a certain way and use to just pleasing his parents without thought. He also is trying to make a name for himself in football again. Olivia has dealt with loss and finding herself again. These two meet and the chemistry is off the charts, then go their separate ways. Now what happens after these two run into each other again. Nick and Olivia are given a second chance, now it’s up to Nick and Olivia to figure out what they want. These two have their own ideas of what love is and how they have experienced it, Nick and Olivia both learn from each other and open their minds to the possibility of a love you read in fairytales. I definitely suggest reading this story that will pull you in and make you feel as if your there with the characters experiencing every moment.
This story is such a wonderful read!! Nikki Ash delivers characters with all the right motives and chemistry that’s off the charts. Nick and Olivia both have dreams they want out of life and they never expected to have such an intense reaction to each other. This book is full of heart warming moments they make you smile. I truly enjoyed this book and this author. Look forward to more or this series!!!
Another top favorite of 2019! Must-read author!
I recently discovered Nikki Ash and have been obsessed ever since. She’s become one of my favorite authors. Everything she writes is amazeballs and this book was no different!
I FLOVED it so much that I read it in one sitting! I won’t give spoilers, just know it’s not an overly dramatic storyline. I loved Nick and Olivia. I’m sad the book ended, but I’m very excited for Killian & Giselle’s book. I’m also hoping the author writes a book for Celeste.
First off this story is effing amazing! I love sport romances and this one kicked it out the park right from the start. Nick and Olivia have this amazing chemistry that will knock you right out your chair.
Nick and Olivia have this one great night together when Olivia ups and disappears which is usually the other way around but not this time. Olivia leaves Nick heart broken so he decides to throw himself into football and move on. So he does move on and while he is out on night he sees Olivia only she is not alone and he can’t keep his eyes off of her because she is pregnant not just pregnant but very pregnant and he knows the baby is his. Only one problem Nick is engaged to another woman.
After Nick sees Olivia and they talk everything changes for the both of them and the story starts to kick off and I mean kick off. You will go on such a roller coaster ride you will get whip lash in the best way ever. Nick and Olivia are amazing together and you have to read to find out what happens to them.
So go on and one click it because you won’t be disappointed I know I wasn’t!
The pickup is the first book in the imperfect love series, but can be read as a complete stand alone. This is a second chance romance with a surprise baby, two of my favorites!! Nick and Olivia meet in a bar and spend one night together. But that one night leaves them with a surprise. They reunite in the most unexpected place, and thier lives are turned upside down. I loved watching Nick become a father and adapt to that role, a role he vowed he wold never have! I absolutely loved these characters and cannot wait for Killian and Giselle’s book.
Nicks always believed in love, even if his parents weren’t the best people to learn from. Olivia has always wanted a fairy tale, and when she meets Nick, the chemistry is off the charts. But she leaves the next morning, and Nickis living up the famous jock life. When Olivia comes back, Nicks world is flipped upside down, and the feelings come flooding back to both of them.
I loved this story, and I’d definitely recommend this book.
Totally addictive and swoony, worthy of over a five star rating! The Pickup not only has amazing main characters with great chemistry, but their supporting characters will easily keep you hooked and wanting to know them more. I could not put this book down. Nikki truly spoils her readers time and time again, and this book was no different. I FLOVED Olivia and Nick! The hotness factor with these two was off the charts. And the heart melting level was right along with it. I loved watching these character’s growth through their story, personally and together. Everyone wants a fairytale type of love, and Nick and Olivia show that it takes hard work and courage to achieve that HEA in their own way. Starting with a one night hookup that leads to way more than either of them bargained for. Stock up the munchies and enjoy the ride along with them in The Pickup by Nikki Ash.
An amazing start with book 1 in her new Imperfect Love series. A complete standalone with its own HEA, told in Dual POV. Definitely a must read that will leave you wanting more. I cant wait for more from these hot football players and their friends! Plus the amazing eye candy with their yummy covers
Nick and Olivia were adorable. It was a one night stand that turned into more. He was the NFL quarterback and she was into Arts. But there’s sooooooo much more to Olivia that he doesn’t know about, . She leaves and he never sees her again until months later and things are shaken up and I swear I didn’t see that revelation. I was expecting a different outcome but nope didn’t happen.
Things between them are not the best. But slowly they start being civil towards each other and become sort of friends. But Nick wants more and so does Olivia. They take a shot and everything is going extremely well. It’s nice too see Nick happy since surprisingly he’s a huge believer in HEA. But then someone in his camp tries to sabotage his happiness and you’ll be very surprised who tries to do that.
Olivia has great support system that has her back in everything. Nick only has his friend Celeste and Killian. By the way I detested Celeste at first but then I realized I was completely wrong about her.
I can’t wait for the following book.
The Pickup is an easy to read, sweet and enjoyable sports romance from Nikki Ash. After reading her Co-written book Heath with K. Webster, I was really curious to read more from Nikki.
The Pickup centres around Nick a pro football player who has been steered to follow a career in the NFL by his cold and controlling parents. Nick enjoys the game but craves the moment his parents don’t use his success as a bargaining chip, a status symbol or a money making venture. After an injury almost ends his career and his long term girlfriend leaves him he becomes disillusioned with love and the idea of a happily ever after, deciding to live in the moment, one woman, one night at a time. A single one night stand with one girl who is looking for her own fairytale leaves him believing maybe love is in his future, until he wakes the next morning to find his bed empty.
Olivia is the heroine here and she is a really likeable character. When she moves back to the USA and crosses path’s with Nick again, a life changing event takes place that has their worlds colliding. The evolution of Nick and Olivia’s relationship made for a great story and Nick surprised me with just how big his heart really is. How he grew and faced his fears, regarding his life, his love and his parents was fantastic and I was cheering for him all the way through. There are plenty of moments in The Pickup that I could relate to. I laughed quite a few times, and with some excellent secondary characters in Killian, Celeste and Giselle I am eager to learn all about their stories. The pace was good, with likeable characters, a believable storyline and great writing plus the pretty cover is the cherry on top of a amazingly good cake. That secondary epilogue left me so ready for more to come in spring!
