I totally love Elliot even if she drives me crazy ! Her heart is so big and I love that but it gets her into serious trouble. I figured out who the killer was right before the reveal but of course I had to finish the story. Not sure I would like having a job I got fired from weekly but to each their own.
Great read!
Loving this new series by Christy Barritt! The characters are great and the storyline unpredictable. A fun mystery series that will keep you coming back for more!
The Perks of Meddling is the exciting second installment of Christy Barrit’s series The Sidekick’s Survival Guide.
After her boss turns away a case, Elliot decides to take it on herself. A woman’s sister is missing and she’s afraid the Beltway Killer is to blame. Elliot vows to devote her time after work to investigating and figuring out what happened to the sister. But then she starts getting threatening messages to back off. By taking this case on, has Elliot made herself the target of a dangerous serial killer?
I flew through the pages of this fast paced mystery. The guilty party wasn’t a huge shocker to me, but I had no clue why they did it. I enjoyed trying to figure out the motive. I’m really loving this series. It’s got a great bunch of likable and unique characters that I’m excited to keep reading about. I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
These books are nice, easy reading and yet not too predictable.
The Perks of Meddling is a terrific book in the series. I really enjoy the main character, Elliot, and how Christy Barritt is developing her character into a qualified private investigator. The plot in this story is extremely involved and I was totally surprised by the ending. This is an amazing whodunit book!
The Perks of Meddling is the newest installment in the Sidekick’s Survival Guide. Readers find Elliot Ransom, PI, on her second case. Only this one is off the books. After being turned down by her agency, Elliot agrees to help a girl track down her sister who has gone missing. I can usually somewhat guess who is behind the crime, but Ms. Barritt got me this time. I totally didn’t see this one coming.
In addition to the case, readers also get to know Michael (her partner at the agency) and Officer Hunter a little better. Two fabulous guys, who will end up her love interest? Elliot is also still on the hunt for information on what really happened with her father’s death. I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series and answers to these questions and many more.
I guess technically you could read this as a standalone. However, you will be missing a good bit of background info from The Art of Eavesdropping. Do yourself a favor and start with that one if you haven’t already had the pleasure of reading that one.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Who do you trust, and are you doing the right thing? Those are the questions Elliot Ransom is faced with, in this story of her new adventures within the world of PI work. She finds she has more questions than answers and now her life is more in danger. Can she solve this case before she goes missing like her client?
Oh, I love this new series by Christy Barritt! It is so full of suspense and mystery! It also has a bunch of fun quirky moments between the characters in this book.
Christy Barritt is an author who knows how to keep you reading and reading and reading until you’ve realized you’re done and waiting for the next book to be released. She uses vivid word pictures and descriptions to tell this story. The way she writes is so genuine and refreshing.
I love this new storyline and all the new characters. I’m excited to see how they all connect to the mysteries of Elliot’s life.
This story has so much packed into it. My heart was pounding and my mind was going fast trying to figure out how it was all going to end.
If you LOVE “who-done-it” stories with mystery, suspense, action, and a bit of relationship tension mixed in, you will love this book!
I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
You know what they always say about not letting success go to your head? Yeah, a little success with a case and Elliot is raring to take on another one – this time pro bono because she felt sorry for the gal her boss turned down. As frequent readers of Christy Barrit’s cozy mysteries know, things are about to get a little crazy ’round here.
It doesn’t take very long before Elliot finds herself right in the middle of danger but in her own naive and clueless way, she keeps on following those clues into one disaster after another. But somehow, some way Elliot manages to put together the clues and solve yet another case.
The Perks of Meddling is yet another fun cozy mystery with a quirky heroine whose ignorance of Americanisms offers a chuckle or two. Then there are those two guys – her cute coworker Michael and that handsome cop Hunter who keeps showing up everywhere she goes. It seems to me that they are both interested in Elliot but neither is quite on her radar yet. It will be interesting to see how that part of the story goes. I am also very interested for Elliot to learn more about her father’s mysterious journal.
I voluntarily reviewed a digital copy of this book provided by the author. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I am really enjoying this series by Christy Barritt. The characters are diverse and quite interesting, and Elliot seems to get herself into more scrapes than you would think possible making for very interesting reading. Christy is a great storyteller.
I LOVE this fun new series by Christy Barritt! Eliot is on her second mission to find out the truth and her latest client is off the books, so it gets her quite a bit of trouble. Eliot once again faces danger and intrigue while trying to find a missing person that no one else seems to care much about because she’s labeled “a troublemaker.” In her quest, she crosses path once again with the handsome detective, gets some surprising help from her mentor, Michael, and gets in trouble with her employer, as well as puts herself in dangerous situations that could get her killed! Along the way, she keeps seeking for answers in her father’s death , and goes on a date with someone she doesn’t quite trust. I enjoyed this book, perhaps more than the first even, and it kept me guessing until the end! I received a copy form the author. All the opinions are my own.
The mystery is cozy although Elliot’s latest case is anything but. She has a lot to learn about the P.I. trade and how to protect herself while following the clues. Fortunately, her co-worker, Michael and police detective, Dylan Hunter steer Elliot away from most of the danger. Hopefully she will take their advice before it’s too late.
This new series is fresh, engaging and binge-worthy. Stay tuned for the third edition, soon.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I really like this new series A LOT. It’s fun, quirky, suspenseful, and just plain delightful.
“Meddling” when we are told to stay out of something – we’ve all done it, right? Well, Elliot takes it to the extreme in this book when she tries to help find a girl’s missing sister when her PI boss won’t help. But Elliot soon finds out that meddling can lead to murder!! As usual, quirky characters, mysterious messages, and lots of twists and turns will be found as you read this. I especially like geting to know some of the characters a little more in this book. But you don’t have to read the first one to enjoy this one. I’ll warn you – once you read this book, you’ll go back and read the first one!! I did receive an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
Our new favorite sleuth, Elliot Ransom, is back with another case to investigate—off hours from her PI assistant’s job. Rebecca Morrison’s sister is missing, and the woman is desperate for help in finding Trina. Elliot feels compelled to take on the case, despite her boss’s orders not to get involved. Fortunately, her coworker, Michael Straley, comes to her aid. Can they find Trina, or does she want to be found? Could she have gotten mixed up with something dangerous? We can’t help but root for Elliot as she follows the trail and uncovers more than she expected. Another fun read from a great suspense author! I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
