A feature film in 2012 starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Paul Rudd and written and directed by the author — the provocative and poignant “coming-of-age tale in the tradition of The Catcher in the Rye and A Separate Peace” (USA Today) that has affected an entire generation of young people.
Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it … there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion has become a modern classic.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives or to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and music — when all one requires to feel infinite is that perfect song on that perfect drive.
Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.

This is one of my favorite books. It is a quick read written in a style that is easy to get through. The characters are developed well and the story pulls you in.
It is a beautiful coming of age story that deals with topics such as mental health, abuse, and understanding one’s sexuality.
Definitely worth a read.
A brilliant execution, but a dark story. Not what I had hoped for.
Life changing
Sad
Great story but i liked the movie better
This books spoke to me in my younger years. I loved the albums they built within the book and I had already been listening to a lot of them. Reading it again made me think of those younger and feeling immortal days. The messed up lives we all live and had to deal with. The people we meet along the way. The crushes we wish we had the courage to …
I thought it was fairly boring. I was disappointed.
Finished in one day!
Intense and heavy, but well-worth reading. I would recommend it for older teens or young adults, not younger groups.
This might actually be my favorite book! Stephen Chbosky writes beautiful and extremely relatable characters that have stolen my heart. This book left me crying laughing and contemplating my existence!
I have been in this hospital environment. I found this story both realistic and witty. It is pretty comical too, but these thing happen. Good reading for all.
It’s just related to me meaning I think of these things alot and I would write a book similar like this by its format and details
I love this book it touched my soul
Favorite book!
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER! I love Charlie, I feel like that was me.
The narration of Charlie is so incredibly well done in this book. He is so believable as a character and he touched my heart and soul. While this book absolutely made me quite emotional, it was so important for me to read it and I think that the author weaves together such an incredible story. I did see the film after I read the book and it …
A great book about being an Outsider in High School. Written as a series of letters to an unknown, the narrator is Charlie, a character with mental health issues, but also with insight far beyond his years. Well written story with keen observations on what it is like to be a teenager.
When I started reading this book, I didn’t know where it would lead me. First, I had to get used to the style of writing. The one-sided writing doesnt give you a wide perspective, you just get to know the boy’s thoughts on how he gets thru life and everything that happens to him. His thoughts changed often rapidly and you couldn’t follow them …
This was one of the few books I read in a day. I know it doesn’t look like it on my Goodreads account, but that is because i enter in books when I plan to read them, and enter in that i finished the book whenever i get the time. Not just because it was so short, but because it was very engaging and a great story with great characters. And I might …
This book shares profound discoveries of abuse, coming of age, and awareness in the simplest of formats. It touches on the deepest subjects with the most tender heart. It is a quick read but it will stick with you in a way other books do not.
Analogy I took from the book: Life is like going through a tunnel. You begin in the bright light …
