A feature film in 2012 starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Paul Rudd and written and directed by the author — the provocative and poignant “coming-of-age tale in the tradition of The Catcher in the Rye and A Separate Peace” (USA Today) that has affected an entire generation of young people.
Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it … there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion has become a modern classic.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives or to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and music — when all one requires to feel infinite is that perfect song on that perfect drive.
Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.

There’s always light at the end of the tunnel. That’s certainly true in Stephen Chboski’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In this ya novel, high school freshman Charlie writes letters to us. Yes, I believe they are written to the reader. Charlie’s non-judgemental compassion, self-effacing honesty, and unbiased intellectualism make him a truly …
This is a unique case where I loved the movie just as much as the book. One of my favorite books of all time and I highly recommend it.
I tried. I really did. But I got through the first 10 pages before I decided this book wasn’t for me. I’m normally not a fan of The Diary Format on its own, and (I know this is totally sexist and narrow-minded and inappropriate for me to say BUT) I especially don’t like it from a guy’s POV. I don’t know, it was just weird. I think I’ll just try …
I finally came to the party and read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which was a wildly successful book at its release way back in the late 90s and was later a successful movie. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I plan to. I liked Perks of Being a Wallflower. It didn’t blow me away like some recent YA entries (I’ll Give You the Sun, for example), …

SPOILER ALERT: Infinite. This book is, or should be considered, as I believe protagonist Charlie would want, infinite.
Likely one of the most powerful coming-of-age books that, as I understand, is becoming a classic to adolescents, as well it should. It is so hard to be in that awkward space of not quite a child, not quite an adult. Where …
everyone should read this book, recommend especially to any depressed teen. this book helped me sm
I really wasn’t sure what to expect going into this one. I knew there was a lot of hype surrounding it but I’ve never seen the movie or even knew what this book was about. I jumped in blind.
I’m surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did despite this being a sad, melancholy read. There are various small times of happiness but overall the theme …
This book is well written and based on THAT, give it 5 stars. The topic was very hard to deal with and I did not see it coming. I do not usually buy into Trigger Warnings but I could have used one. But, I won’t begrudge the author the well written and realistic tone of this tale.
Loved this book.
The books is just perfect ,is in easy language,a story that one can relate to.i have read it five times I love this book
loved it. quick read. very quirky.
Your friend writes to you, you don’t know who he is.
Follow the story of charlie, his encounters with love, his family, and his first year in high school.
One of my all-time favourite books which I relate to on a very personal level. The movie is great as well!
Absolutely loved the characters, quirks and story!
The book and the movie are truly masterpieces
it’s very interesting to enter in a 15-years-old boy that try lots of experiences for the first time… he’s very smart but a bit weird with a difficult childhood that influence his behaviour. really interesting
One of my all time favorite books to read once every few years. Its also one where the movie did it justice!
4½ stars.
