Criminal profiler in training (and newlywed) Jessie Hunt, 29, discovers that dark secrets lurk in her new suburban town; when a body turns up dead, she finds herself caught in the crosshairs of her newfound friends, her husband’s secrets, her serial killer caseload—and the secrets of her own dark past.
In THE PERFECT WIFE (A Jessie Hunt Psychological Suspense Thriller—Book One), Criminal … Criminal profiler-in-training Jessie Hunt is sure she’s finally put the darkness of her childhood behind her. But soon after their arrival, Jessie begins to notice a series of strange developments. The neighbors—and their au pairs—all seem to be hiding secrets. The mysterious yacht club Kyle is desperate to join is rife with cheating spouses, and with troubling rules of its own. And the notorious serial killer being held at the psychiatric hospital where Jessie is completing her degree seems to know more about her life than is normal—or safe.

All his books are great!
Ok….something like Stepford Wives.
I really did enjoy this book, I am a through and through psych nerd and I loved that aspect of this story. Jessie is a complex intriguing character. Toward the middle of the book I worried that I was going to lose interest with where the plot turned but it def redeemed itself with the ending! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
different
Even though the synopsis makes a comparison to the Stepford Wives, this book has twists and turns that throw you off a degree or two. You know there is something going on behind the scenes but can’t quite put your finger on it. The naivety of the main character seems a bit much however; given her circumstance I can understand why the storyline went that direction. The love of money will always get you into trouble.
This book kept me wondering what was going on. The plot was original and unpredictable. I don’t think I would have behaved the same, but it was fun reading about how the heroine handled business. I love reading about strong women!
This book wasnt for me. No matter how well written a book is, I don’t like it when the hero/heroine tries to cover up something when they did nothing wrong.
If I read it, it was excellent !!!!! I READ IT. JAK,jr.
a good read good plot
I was disappointed. This is the start of a new series that I will not be continuing. The lead character, Jessie, is a strong willed woman. Her “past” is implied but not really explained until late in the book…..and the fact Kyle, her husband, knows so little….definitely leads one to wonder about their marriage.
Jessie wants to be a forensic profiler and is working on her degree when her husband moves them to a waterfront community away from her friends and studies. The reasons for her career interest is mentioned in passing and the fact she has to keep information secret just doesn’t ring true. Nor does the Professor that leads her to talk with a serial killer that few have ever interviewed. It seemed that the Professor, Kyle, and others all have their own reasons and needs in dealing with Jessie.
Jessie assumes she’ll be fine meeting jailed Crutchfield, a killer, but almost gives into her fear……why does she think she is so much smarter than the professionals? The reader knows she survived something in her childhood but that doesn’t make her smarter in dealing with killers. She has an attitude that could get her killed if she doesn’t listen to the professionals in profiling.
Meanwhile Jessie meets two neighbors Kimberly and Mel and the husbands. And the “club”, all the husbands join is something out of a bad movie….the description of the club was not believable. Nor the women giving into the husbands and blaming it on the need of the lifestyle. Stepford wives?
The changes in Kyle were almost overnight and didn’t ring true. Mel and Kimbetly were drawn as real women with flaws and fears and empathy. The men came across as whiny and controlling…..can’t control your wife…whine and demand.
I can’t recommend this book and am shocked at how many people like it. Read his other books about Riley Page, a much better mystery series..
Read in one day. Great psychological thriller!
I really liked the main character Jessie as well as the plot. I liked it so much i bought the next 2 books in the series.
Loved it!!!
Another page-turner from Blake Pierce. Every book I’ve read by Mr. Pierce is exciting, original and unpredictable. I simply love all of his books. He has replaced James Patterson as my favorite author.
I am working my way through the whole series .
Wow, you’ll never guess the plot twists in this book. Truly unpredictable.
What a sit on the corner of my chair, page turner, can’t read fast enough book! I loved it, thank you.
Awesome. True mystery with twists
Strange, a little bit scary, but believable. Can’t wait to read more from this author!
Great characters and storyline. However so many errors in word placement and run on sentences that it is annoying. Pierce is great writer but proofers aren’t paying attention and it distracts from storyline
