The book is filled with excitement, twists and turns. I love that it isn’t predictable and even once you know more there are still aspects that take you by surprise. I enjoyed the fact that although it was easy to read and follow it was never slow or repetitive.
The book is well researched and really well written. The story flows brilliantly and keeps up a good pace that engages the reader throughout. The characters are fascinating, both the heroes and villains. You find yourself changing your opinion of who the people are and what drives and motivates them. I also really enjoyed Katherine’s discovery of what perfect beauty can hide but also what hidden depths are inside us all.
A really enjoyable read that deserves to be read more than it has been at the moment.
Katherine Mansford was the oldest sister of the four. Lorraine was second but everyone thought she was gorgeous. Her father definitely favored Lorraine. She could do no wrong. Poor Kate was timid, abhorred life, and was afraid of everything. David was Lorraine’s fiancée, he was in Syracuse and an apprentice lawyer. No one knew what Lorraine was up to. People thought highly of Katherine. She was so sweet and kind and would go out of her way to help.
Michael was a nice man and tried hard to help Katherine and proved himself not guilty. He had a nice farm and trained horses. Michael believed her weakness, was her strength.
This is a complicated story but the author has done an amazing job of keeping it coherent. It is very easy to read and there are some twists and turns. It is exciting and keeps you on your toes. I really enjoyed it. I do recommend it and hope you like it as much as I did.
I received this ARC from Book Sirens and voluntarily reviewed it.
We travel back in time to 1904 where carriages and horses were means of travel. No cars or phones.
Lorraine was thought to be the perfect sister until she’s murdered.
Katherine the eldest sister is shy and keeps to herself often being neglected. She’s determined to find out who would kill her sister. She stumbles upon Michael who’s been accused of murdering her sister. Her instincts tell her otherwise.
Being sheltered most of her life Katherine begins to investigate her sister’s death. As she begins to unravel the mystery of her sister’s death she realizes she wasn’t the perfect sister everyone thought she was. She also puts herself in danger by trusting the wrong people. I could feel her coming out of her shell growing more confident as her journey continues.
A romantic, murder mystery that will keep you on your toes second guessing who the murderer is.

I truly couldn’t put this book down – the plot was so well woven and intriguing. Became totally immersed in Katherine’s stoy – a story that kept me up to the wee hours of the morning as I had to find out the outcome. Loved how Katherine grew and became her own person. Loved the twists, deceptions, and intrigue. Loved how I became emotional involved with the characters. Definitely reccommend reading.

The Perfect Sister is very nice turn of the century mystery. Lorraine Mansford, clearly her father’s favorite, nineteen years old, beautiful, popular, sophisticated and murdered.
Katherine, the eldest lives in the shadow of her perfect sister and her father’s dislike. Mourning the death of Lorraine, she uncovers her sister’s diary. Only it is not her diary but a ledger with names of business people she knows. She starts to piece together bits of information she heard and has seen in order to find the killer.
