She’s my roommate. I know how she takes her tea, how she organizes her closet.I know when she goes to bed each night, what she eats for breakfast, the passcode on her phone. I know she calls her mother on Mondays, takes barre on Thursdays, and meets her friends for drinks on Fridays. But more important than any of that … I know what she did.
My favorite of Kent’s stories, hands down. This story sucked me in and I finished it in a matter of hours. I can’t get enough of this author’s stories, they’re so easy to read, incredibly fast-paced, and entertaining.
Meadow Cupples is the typical nerd. Studious, immersed in books and always alone at home. One day, her financial problems results her an eviction notice and in search of any place to live she seems to find the opportunity of dreams. The house at 47 Magpie Drive.
Lauren Wiedenfeld seems to be the perfect roommate. Beautiful, popular and perfect. Everything in your house is clean, tidy and organized. From the objects in the kitchen to your clothes and shoes. But this beautiful, dazzling smile can hide many secrets.
Thriller. Uncertainties. Surprises. The perfect roommate is the kind of book that holds your attention from start to finish. Every ending chapter brings an observation, a doubt, a reflection on the real nature of the characters.
From young couple in love and pregnant to the possessive boyfriend. From the perfect roommate to the envious sushi-eating friend. All, without exception, will have new prisms of their personalities revealed in developing the plot. Inclusive and especially our protagonists.
As obscure secrets are revealed, there is a twist in the events of the narrative. And what a turn! Unexpected revelations that are sure to blow the reader’s mind.
A well written book, surprising and with a sweeping ending.
Sometimes the end or epilogue of a story can boost a star rating. The usual twist was, in my opinion, doubled in this story.
Another good read by Minka Kent.
Deliciously entertaining and fun.
Mr Sandman, Bring Me A Dream
*** I received this ARC in exchanged for an honest review. ***
So when I read the blurb, I was extremely curious as to what this was about. What happened? What DID The roommate do? Was this like, I Know What You Did Last Summer ? I HAD to know. So as soon as I started reading this book, I was pulled in because it wasn’t what I thought it would be like at first. Nothing was suspicious, I mean NOTHING. So I was a little confused, but I carried on because I needed to know what happened next.
Everything was completely normal. Even including one of the main characters being down on her luck in the beginning. So I read on to see where her life and luck would take her in this story…
I just knew something good would happen. I was so right! As the book went on things got weirder and weirder. At one point I wondered if I was in The Twilight Zone. Things weren’t making sense and had me questioning why the characters did that. Namely, that damn roommate! There are some bizarre things that happen that had me scratching my head, like whaaaa? I would not want a roommate like that FYI. I never felt so weirded out in my life.
Also the plot twists that happen in the book towards the end, I didn’t see coming, you guys. I felt like the rug was ripped out from under me and I fell on my ass. I looked around like, what the fuck just happened and how? It was jarring to say the least. This book honestly reminded me of the book, The Girl On The Train and the movie, Single White Female along with its own twisted, mixed up ideas.
I look forward to reading another book by Minka Kent because this one was extremely satisfying. Read at your own risk.
An elaborate scheme that reeks of treachery. I can’t say any more without spoiling the end.
Great book
Very original, kept me tuned in the whole time. A little disappointed in the ending. Everyone being connected in in the scheme seemed too unrealistic to me.
A strange twist toward the end! I didn’t see it coming.
I just really liked this book. Definitely some twists I didn’t see coming. Easy to read; just plan on staying up until you finish it – couldn’t put it down till I finished the book.
I like to read Minka Kent’s books because they are usually a quick, but fully engaging, read. The Perfect Roommate is no exception, however, I didn’t love the ending as much in this book as I have with her other novels. Without revealing anything, I just felt the ending was rushed & overly contrived after taking a deep dive into the two main characters’ lives. I found the book to be absorbing & easy to read, just a tad disappointing at the end. It will not deter me from reading any of her other books, though!
You can figure all out half way through the book, uninspiring
Wasn’t exactly what I expected but turned out to be a pretty good read.
This was a fantastic book with a turn I never saw coming.
This was a quick read, and the story drew me in, curious to see where it was going, despite the fact I didn’t care much for any of the characters. It had some twists and turns, then became predictable. Still, not a bad way to spend some lazy time.
Excellent read. Well written, subtle, yet powerful. A perfect portrait of what can happen when insecurities are exploited by predatory minds. A page-turner!
Quick read, fast paced. Fresh & entertaining
Wow a who dun it book!!!
It had a twisted ending that I enjoyed, but it took so long to get there. The main character wasn’t really inspiring. I kind of like to imagine myself in the character, but she was just kind of pathetic.
Fast read and unpredictable
