A sweet YA romance with well written characters.
I highly recommend.
I have found a new favorite YA author. It’s hard to find sweet and realistic YA romances and this one satisfied everything I was looking for. If you are search of a romance that includes teens doing teen stuff (instead of saving the word), this one might be right for you.
Cute second chance high school romance! I appreciated the multi dimensional characters and the well-flowing plot. I look forward to reading more in this series!
Jake and Penny are such sweet characters. Though in some ways they struggle with more than many, their struggles ring true to the struggles, changes, and life choices that we all have.
A serious story that still keeps the reader upbeat and engaged, I recommend this book to young and old, alike.

I was hesitant to read this young adult book since I’m a long way from being young, but I totally enjoyed it. There are lessons in it for all ages. One of the main ones is to communicate. Penny and Jake had been best friends but failure to communicate led to estrangement and a lot of misunderstandings and hurt feelings. There is something for everyone in this book.
Jake was the main short stop for the school baseball team. Penny was the star pitcher for the girls softball team. Jake and Penny were best friends growing up but in middle school something drove them apart but their feelings never changed. Now that their feelings were starting to become more grown up, Penny was scared that playboy Jake would break her heart again. This was an emotional and fun story about best friends as they cope with family, personal, school, emotional and friendship problems all while trying to survive school and plan for their future. Good read

This is the first of a new series, Rosemont High Baseball. It’s a short, clean, and sweet story about young adults and the challenges they face. The author does a great job of bringing the story to life with great characters that are lovable and endearing. I loved how incredibly real and relatable they were. This book will pull you right in and keep you engaged all the way through. Penny and Jake were once good friends, but certain events in the past caused them to drift apart. Jake later realizes how much he really misses Penny and her friendship. This is a heartwarming story of friendship, forgiveness, and trust that will warm your heart and give you all the feels. Happy to recommend!

This was a sweet story about two high schoolers who were best friends before they stopped talked to each other. Jake pushed Penny away and didn’t talk to her anymore. Now juniors in high school that changes and he wants his best friend back and maybe more. It will be a hard fought road though because of how he treated her and the playboy he’s become in school.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Penney and Jake. They grew up next door and being best friends, until it all went wrong. Both of them suffered a loss, his best friend was killed and her mom left. After that they drifted apart. But spring tryouts has them playing the field. When push comes up shove, their friendship will win out.

There were so many good things about this book. There were also some not so good things about this book. But the good definitely outnumbered the not so good. (I hesitate to say “bad” because they weren’t really bad.)
The main characters – Penny and Jake – were great. I liked how neither of them had a perfect life and that contributed to their character development. In many stories, although the character has an unstable family life, it never seems to affect the way they relate to others. The supporting characters were wonderful as well. There were moments when I wasn’t sure why someone was somewhere or what was going on because it seemed like a random character had been inserted but it all worked out.
The storyline was fun and sweet. Things were resolved before the end of the book instead of people left hanging and there were explanations for things that were mentioned near the beginning of the book which made me happy because I hate when I’m left wondering why something was mentioned and never explained. It did seem for a bit that there were two separate reasons that Penny and Jake had stopped being friends before the story began, but I was able to figure that one out.
Overall, this was a solid book that I very much enjoyed.

Cute little high school story. I normally don’t read this, but I thought I would give it a try. While reading this, I could imagine myself in high school and thinking how realistic this story is – dealing with family issues and thinking about college. Sweet, young romance between 2 star athletes – one is in the popular crowd while the other is a smart kid. Great story and I can’t wait to see what happens with some of the other characters. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.
Rating:
This story was so much fun. I’ve read one of Britney’s books before and this book was just as good if not better. I loved the characters. While it did take a bit of time to warm up to Jake, he is worth reading about. They are both a bit stubborn and sometimes don’t look at the full picture, but they have an incredible story. I didn’t expect different aspects. The story flowed smoothly. All the events were perfect where they were and made sense. I liked all the side characters and look forwards to the next book in this series.

The story is written from both Penny and Jake’s point of views and takes them from a friendship fallout to friends again to dating. I like how Penny is strong and encourages Jake to do better at school & baseball in an easy/non-pushing way. Jake has issues from past decisions and also from his family life and doesn’t know how to deal with it effectively so having Penny back in his life helps. Although the story is set in high school, it could easily take place in college or adulthood and is an excellent reminder of how important communication is in every relationship.

This is a great story! Penny and Jake where neighbors who used to be best friends until some difficult things happened that caused Jake to pull away from their friendship. During their junior year of high school Jake realized how much he missed his friend. Their story is one of learning to forgive and to trust yourself. Their story was sweet yet so real and raw in how sometimes life just throws curveballs your way. The story gives hope and makes you feel all of Penny and Jakes emotions. It is a definite must read.
This was a quick, light, fun read with good characters and a pleasant storyline. Just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing weekend to destress. Curl up with a warm blanket, hot beverage, and this cute book to get away for a bit and remember young love.
Such a cute YA romance with all the feels, mix ups and angst that comes with first love
