just a good book
Interesting from beginning to surprise ending.
I loved it!
This was a well written book that kept my attention. Was a surprise toward the end for me, and it would be unlikely to happen. I did enjoy the character development, the interaction of family, and the different views of their mother without catching on to her machinations.
Was a little slow in places, but did not expect the ending.
It takes a long time to get going, but the last 25% is really good.
The Perfect Family is about the Radcliffe family’s. The Radcliffe clan is made up of Claire, the mother of Matt, Anthony and Vaughn. Matt and Nikki have been married fifteen years. Nikki suffers from anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. Anthony and Belinda have been together for eight years. Belinda is desperately trying to get pregnant. She’s been under a ton of stress. Vaughn and Paige have been dating about six months. Paige is younger than Vaughn and has a three year old daughter.
Claire is the meddling mother-in-law who worries about her boys financial well-being. Claire sits at the center of all the financial issues gossiping between families about each other’s problems.
The Perfect Family takes place in a small town in Australia. When each of these family’s begin to have problems Claire is readily available to help manage the chaos. She wants to help her boys and feel useful. Her intentions are kind, but she ends up making these women feel inadequate. Quite frankly they are worried Claire is overstepping her role.
I’m at the fifty percent mark in the book but I’m beginning to wonder when the story is about to begin. I’ve forgotten what I’m actually waiting for. Twice I’ve had to re-read the description to gain a better understanding of what’s to take place. This is my first read by Jacquie Underdown and it’s not looking very promising. I referred to my fellow reviewers for assistance to gain a better insight as to how others have perceived this book. My feelings so far are boredom. Unfortunately, the boredom had led to skimming.
I need more dialogue and less minutiae about the daily woes of life. This is a slow progressing story which is taking far too long to make its point. I’m questioning what the concept is again since it hasn’t reached the point of interest.
I appreciated her writing this story about Claire because finally someone understands what I’m going through as well. It was a clever predictable plot with a slow building twist yet I struggled with its delivery. It took far too long to read the moment of truth. I wanted to like it more than I did but the amount of time developing all these characters was far too extensive.
Clear cut villain. Interesting twists
A family that is ruled by a master manipulator turns the tables on her with deadly, haunting consequences. The story starts out a little slow, you first wonder why the daughter-in-laws are complaining about such a nice, thoughtful woman, then you realize that it is all an evil act to manipulate and destroy their confidence and their lives. The ending is very satisfying but unbelievable.
It was ok. Fast read, but you can guess what is going to happen
You figure out what is going on fairly quickly . The characters are ok but not super fleshed out. The decisions the 3 sisters-in-law make are a little unrealistic. It’s a pretty big step they take and it seemed as easy to make as a new drape purchase. I hate when reviews give away too much so I won’t say more. Oh and the husbands… get your head outta the sand!
I disliked it very much!
Entertaining and wicked.
