THE PERFECT FAMILY is a taut tale that winds tighter and tighter with the turn of each page. And just when I thought I knew the outcome — BAM! — the author, Jacquie Underdown, implements a plot twist that left me with a satisfied smile on my face. Was justice served? You’ll have to be the judge of that. I highly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed this book. I, too, have people in my life that are similar to Claire. The author did a wonderful job at portraying just how devious and twisted narcissists can be. While this book took it to the extreme in how they dealt with it, it made sense given the character’s circumstances. All the characters were quite believable and the plot kept me turning the pages.
I absolutely loved this book! Very intriguing, great characters, hard to put down!
I read this book a bit slowly to start off with as I know a woman like Claire and some of her behaviour was eerily familiar, however, towards the end I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the viewpoints of each character and finding out how Claire affected their lives.
At the end, I was expecting a bit more of the usual behaviour from Claire despite her circumstances, so that the ending didn’t go as smoothly as it did. I was not entirely surprised by the ending, though, when it came to the perpetrator, so found this a fitting end.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, and will be sure to read more from this author.
I loved this book! Very hard to put down. I highly recommend.
Clair reminded me so much of someone in my own family that this book was very real to me. Clair was a whole lot worse than the one in my family and this really brought all together what the person in my family was doing.
Perfect? Try dysfunctional — You bet. Interesting? Certainly! Sad — Unfortunately, yes. Careful of the matriarch — do not cross her! But the characters were fleshed out so well, that even though the storyline wasn’t uplifting, it was quite interesting. Liked the ending very much.
Lots going on in this book, never a dull moment. Moved along quickly with intriguing twists and turns.
First of all, I dreaded reading the book because when i started it I saw each chapter was a different character. I hate these kinds of books. About half way through the book I couldn’t put it down. I figured out the horrible person. I stayed up (to Late) to finish it. The ending was a little shocking. A must Read!
Excellent read – the type you can’t put down. Story unfolds as we come to know a supposedly caring and devoted mother and mother-in-law who is anything but that. Manipulative and scheming, this is a case study in evil.
Great story of dysfunctional families. Loved the book and highly recommend it.
Well written with interesting characters.
Good reading.
Smart women. Wish I had thought of it.
Found very entertaining with a good twist at the end.
Best one I read this week.
The characters were very well-formed. There’s no long descriptions, but insight into the psychology of a family. Kept me reading.
Excellent characterization! Intriguing read!
A perfectly woven story, and a fast read!
This is a story about a horrible, mother to a family of three boys and their wives.
She was rotten with no redeeming characteristics. There is no reason not to hate her. She made life a living hell for those families. Her ill will was relentless and I actually got tired of reading halfway through of the terrible things she did. I skipped to the end. Then I went back and read the chapters I skipped. All I can say is that woman got what she deserved. Hurray! Read the book. Don’t skip chapters. My bad…I just couldn’t take the abuse that family went through.
