He comes up with a plan, but he needs help to pull it off. In order for the plan to work, Harlan needs a forger. The paintings that he has were gotten by his grandfather during WW2 and now Harlan wants to return them to their original owners. YOU CAN FAKE A LOT OF THINGS, BUT YOU CAN’T FAKE LOVE
Harlan and Annaliese have two separate goals in common that they need to get accomplished. Annaliese is the means to Harlan’s purpose and Harlan is the mean to Annaliese’s endgame. Together, they start an alliance that becomes much more. A fake to real love story.
This is a well written mafia romance.
There is danger, suspense and steamy, hot chemistry. An enjoyable read.

This was an intense mafia book and if you like mob stories you’ll love this book. A reproduced priceless painting, a fake marriage, secrets galore and enough chemistry to blow up a law. This book was so intense and well written with strong characters. The storyline was mesmerizing and page-turning. Once I began I found it hard to put down. A great book that I read via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review.

Not everything is fake in the end
The Perfect Fake (Escaping the Camorra Mafia Book 1) by Arabella Steedly is a wonderfully well written romance. There’s lots of heart without too much drama. And, I love that these two communicate – for the most part. With a plot that hints at danger, this book is truly a romance. This author takes the time, detail and circumstances that allows the characters to develop feelings. I also appreciate how their connection provides the need for honesty as they embark on this endeavor together.
The characters themselves are pretty awesome. Harlan, projects a cold, hard and aloof demeanor while really he’s quite warm, hot even, but caring as well. Annaliese is sweet, smart, independent and outgoing. Both are fiercely protective of the other. They can be just as fun and flirty as serious. Since the plot itself is rather serious, these light-hearted moments when they are just themselves and enjoying each other are really quite special and appreciated by this reader.
Overall, a really enjoyable read that provides an HEA for Harlan and Annaliese. As this is Book 1 of this series, the author also has my imagination going wild wondering what could be coming up with Book 2! Absolutely cannot wait!
I read an ARC of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily share my review.
This book is a tangled web and it did take a bit of concentration at first to sort out what was going on but make sure you persevere because after the first few chapters the story really starts to flow and then I enjoyed it immensely. I would have given it five starts if not for those first few chapters
Annaliese Hart is trying to help her father he is in prison serving time for art forgery but he has liver cancer and she wants him moving to somewhere that he will be able to get treatment. I’m having a hard time giving this book an rating. I read the first 2 chapters and just could not get into it. I left it and read something else. I went back later and decided to try it again since I usually like Ms. Steedly’s works. The second time through I understood the first 2 chapters a little more but thought to myself if this is about Kyre I’m out.
Once I reached the third chapter about Annaliese I started to like and enjoy the book. I liked Annaliese and I liked that she was able to “get to” Harlan like she did. The characters of Annaliese and Harlan had a natural chemistry and I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve. The story was good but not great.
I admit this is not my usual preference for a Romance Genre but I have read other Mafia related stories. I expected this to be more action packed than it was since that was how it was advertised.
IF you like and enjoy Mafia Romance then Maybe it’s for you.
I did like the brother Peter’s character for the short time he was in the story and I understand his story is the next book in the series. I expect to read that book to see how his story turns out and hope that the other brother Luke makes an appearance in that book.
Kyre deals with stolen art that was a part of world war 2 who is part of the mafia and he paid for a hit man to kill Harlan dad, who has the stolen art from his dad.
Harlan will devise a plan to get out of illegal art dealing to keep running his art gallery legally. He’s looking for an forgery artist. Annaliese will help so she can help her ailing father.
Harlan and Annaliese are always facing obstacles. This book is amazing! Full of chemistry and twist and turns. Great book to read!
Arabella Steedly writes amazing books!

Harlan never had a need for women, love, and marriage until he met Annaliese. In turn Annaliese never had time for men, love, and marriage. Harlan was being manipulated by Kyre and the Camorra Mafia Family. He makes a deal with Annaliese and in return he will get her father out of jail for art forgery. Interesting story with some very strong characters. Good read!

Conning the mafia is not for the feint of heart but Harlan was determined to remove his family from the illegal activities of his father. He sets in motion a plan that will do just that and at the same time meets a woman who will help him achieve his objective. They marry to protect their plan but the time spent together sees them falling in love with each other. There was danger as you would expect and suspense also but more importantly was the love that developed between this couple. A great read in all respects.

Although this is said to be a mafia book, the emphasis is instead on Harlan and Annaliese. Harlan De Vries’s family was involved with selling artwork stolen during World War II and Harlan wants to get out of the business that is being passed down to him. He wants to find an artist who can perfectly reproduce a priceless work of art, a very dangerous thing to be doing, then he can deliver the fake and return the original to its rightful owner. The mafia is watching his every move.
Annaliese Hart needs to get her father out of prison and to help him with expensive cancer treatments. But she can’t accept the payment Harlan offers her because the Art Crimes division of the FBI monitors her accounts and the large sum of money would bring them right to her. To fool them, Harlan and Annaliese need to convince them they are married so that Annaliese has a marital right to access the money and Harlan has a reason to be trying to get his new “father-in-law” out of prison. So they make the marriage real, and she continues to paint the “perfect fake”.
The book was enjoyable as a love story with an intriguing story line. Will Harlan and Annaliese get away with passing the art off as real? Or will their plan fail? The characters are well-portrayed and convincing. You’ll meet many others in the story who have an impact on everything that happens, so grab your copy and see how it all plays out.
ONE TANTALIZING EXPERIENCE!!!
OMG! Arabella dropped da bomb on this steamy agreement. A bevy of surprising mishaps and unfortunate circumstances keep you flipping page after page. A rollercoaster ride with a plethora of swirling emotions burst front and center. One sizzling storyline and intriguing plot bring this little gem blazing to life flawlessly.
