“I want $50,000 in cash, and I want it now.” Carlos said. That’s a line from chapter 12.
Well, this is quite the book! It kept me going from start to finish. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out in the end. The story line had enough twists and turns that I could not put it down until I read the last page.
The story line is strong and unique. The characters were well thought out and interesting. The supporting characters held their own as well and that’s not something all books can say.
I enjoyed the time I spent with this book. It was well worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for an honest review.
Harlan loses his father in an accident caused by the mafia because he no longer wanted to be associated with them. They have been dealing with stolen art from WW2 that the Nazis stole. The mafia are now demanding more artworks to sell, but Harlan wants to return the pieces to their rightful owners. He hunts for an artist who can create flawless copies of these pieces so they can sell them instead. Harlan finds Annalise who’s father was convicted of forgery and sent to prison. He now has cancer and Annalise wants to get her father released to get the treatment he needs. Because the FBI are watching her, Harlan can’t pay her for her services, so they have a fake marriage. But they didn’t foresee falling in love.
They face danger together and they come out safe so far. But they still have more pieces to copy.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series to see how it all unfolds. A great story line and a great read.

Good book with lots of drama, suspense and twists. The characters where great and strong. If you’ve ever watched the show White Collar part of this book reminds me of a character in that show. I can’t say more than that without giving things away. And I like that show. If you aren’t into mafia books don’t worry because they’re presence isn’t the highlight of the book.

I normally don’t read mafia style books but I received this one as an ARC. I really enjoyed it. Harlan and Annaliese are wonderful characters who face a lot of ups and downs and twists and turns. Even though the mafia is involved it wasn’t heavy with it. This is the first book I have read by Arabella Steedly. I am definitely going to read the next book in this series.
Harlan and Annaliese are playing a game of cat and mouse with Kyre and the Camorra mafia family. After Kyre killed his father and injured his brother, Harlan had to bide his time to come up with a plan to rid himself of the mafia. Annaliese was at her wits end on how to get her father out of prison and get money to combat his cancer. When Harlan approached her, she was upset but it was the perfect plan it executed correctly. Will they pull it off and keep their family members safe?
