A perfect sci-fi tale
A wonderful and inventive start to a new series. Dealing with a galaxy where humans don’t exist is freeing. The creations, at least this iteration, are more like superheroes. And being illegal they have to hide in plain sight. Rafe and the Mardu or Xema are just as interesting and sexy. Fated mates it seems are found even on far away planets. Great read!
3.75 stars–THE PERFECT CREATION is the first instalment in Marie Harte’s sci-fi CREATION fantasy, erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s LIFE IN THE VRAIL sci-fi series. This is Rafe and Erin’s story line.
NOTE: THE PERFECT CREATION contains scenes of bondage, spanking, voyeurism and submission that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.\
SOME BACKGROUND: For over a thousand years the ‘creating’ of a carbon –based life formed has been illegal; they are considered an abomination, and the System has ruled they are to be terminated on sight but Blue Rim Labs is ‘creating’ the abominations, behind closed doors in an effort to create the perfect submissive.
Told from third person perspective THE PERFECT CREATION follows Erin, a humanoid, carbon-based ‘creation’ that has undergone artificial maturations and rigorous training and torture. Having escaped her ‘Creator’ along with her ‘siblings’ Ryen and Anin, Erin is hoping for some help to take down Blue Rim Labs, the organization that is abducting transports and prisoners, and using them in illegal experimentation. Enter Rafe of Mardu, a peacemaker, along with his brothers Gar, Catam and Sernal, and the man with whom Erin will fall in love. When Rafe agrees to help Erin in her plans to destroy Blue Rim Labs, there are other organizations and directives working behind the scenes to reclaim our heroine, and that of her sister and brother. What ensues is the building relationship between Rafe and Erin, and the potential fall-out as our couple find themselves facing their mortality as Blue Rim Labs uses outside forces to track down our leading couple.
Rafe of Mardu is a peacemaker but along with his brothers, they are ordered to terminate all Creations on sight but something about Erin draws Rafe like a spider to a web, and it is her ‘submissiveness’ that is the biggest attraction for a man that is more than dominant by nature and DNA. Erin is an independent female but her Creator and Handler have ‘created’ and trained a submissive, and as such Erin easily submits to the man that calls to her heart. As Rafe and Erin struggles to stay one step ahead of the people commissioned to take her in, Rafe knows that Erin is his mate, and he is going to claim her, at any cost.
There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Rafe’s brothers: Bounty Hunter Catam, Ssernal and Gar; Erin’s siblings Ryen and Anin; fellow peacemaker and tracker Dreyk. The requisite evil includes Erin’s Handler Synster, and the Creator Canunn. Ryen and Dreyk’s story is next.
THE PERFECT CREATION is a story of betrayal, discrimination, torture and abuse; a story of family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing, inventive and startling; the romance is erotic and intense; the characters are colorful, energetic and edgy.
This is a wonderfully hot paranormal sci-fi romance by one of my favorite authors. She wrote it many years ago and has republished it herself. I really enjoyed the world creation and the characters that inhabit it. Erin is an illegal created being. She and her two siblings have escaped her lab and creators and are on the run. Erin is determined to destroy the Blu Rim Labs as the scientists there are sadistic and cruel. Her brother and sister, Ryen and Anin are safe elsewhere while Erin seeks Cheltam who helps those in need for a price and is no friend to the Peacemakers who are after her.
Cheltam is the alter ego of Rafe of Mardu and his brother Gar. Gar is currently holding the position for his brother Rafe. Erin quickly discovers Cheltam-Gar is not willing to listen to her side of the story and she knocks him and his right hand man Dreyk out. While working on escape she runs into Rafe and assumes he’s Cheltam and tries to once again knock him out. Rafe quickly catches up to her and we begin our adventurous journey to taking down the scientists and falling in love.
This story fascinated me with it’s twists and turns and foreignness of the characters skill sets. I never knew what trick they had up their sleeve to getting out of a tight spot. Rafe is intrigued with how intelligent and strong Erin is. As a team they work well together and he enjoys that. The physical chemistry between the two is off the charts. I can’t wait to dig into The brother and sister’s stories.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I don’t typically gravitate towards space themed stories but I’m glad I have this one a try.
I found myself cataloging questions/assumptions for about the first third of the story, which held what I thought to be a lot of erotica/sex but am glad I stuck through because after that I started getting more details to actually flesh out the motivators for Erin and Rafe.
The writing is well done, but I felt a bit overwhelmed by the conclusion- my reason is it seemed like there was a challenge to either introduce or present any sexual proclivity you may be into. Not judging, just seemed like more concepts than I as ready to wrap my head around. Otherwise, the duplicity of Erin’s personality as both independent and submissive I thought was well handled. And for Rafe I’m assuming as the series progresses that maybe there is more of a glimpse at how his character gets some more depth.
Marie Harte introduces us to Rafe & Erin in her first book of the Scifi Sexy Futuristic Romance Action Series “The Perfect Creation.” There is sizzling sex, edginess, snark, chemistry, comedy, action, back stories, family & criminal moments, friendship, sci-fi & futuristic elements all wrapped up in Marie’s trademark world-building. You will definitely enjoy reading it! Give yourself a treat and escape in this story. *I received a free book for my honest review.
This was a well-written, entertaining book. Erin has secrets and is on the run. She kidnaps Rafe, who is working undercover. Sparks fly between them and they start to wonder if there might be something real between them. The book was fast-paced and I didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Erin is a humaniod Creation subjected to experimentation by her creator and handler. Tired of the abuse and being witness to other dastardly goings-on, Erin seeks out help from Cheltam, a criminal mastermind. Erin wants to take down the laboratory that created her and needs Cheltam’s assistance. Cheltam is the cover Rafe is using to do his actual job as a lawman. Neither one expected the chemistry to bring both to their knees.
This is a wonderful new world created by Marie Harte. The characters are strong and fun. The chemistry between Erin and Rafe. The book is sexy, steamy, and full of suspense. The union of Erin and Rafe leads Rafe to not only bend the rules for Erin but completely obliterate them. When Rafe and Erin come face-to-face with the enemy, only time will tell who wins.
The Perfect Creation is a captivating sci-fi romance. I was drawn in and the characters and plot kept me engaged. Lovers of all things sci-fi with steamy sex scenes will enjoy this book.
Sci-fi, action, drama, love, and evil getting it’s comeuppance
That’s what this book is.
I’ve been a fan of Marie’s for a very long time and initially read this book back about the time it first came out. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens, the place I got the book went defunct and I lost access to it.
But it’s back with a vengeance and it takes me back to the days of discovering this amazing writer and falling in love with her work. It has all the elements you could want in a sci-fi romance, and it’s super sexy too. And I do mean super sexy … it’ll make you melt for sure.
If you like your sexy times more subtle and alluded to … this isn’t the book for you. Ain’t nothin subtle about the sexy times in this work. They’re smoking freaking hot and not for everyone. Me … I love it hot.
Worth the time and every penny to read.
The Perfect Creation is the first in Marie Harte’s sci-fi series Creations. Rafe of Mardu is checking in with his brother when he’s kidnapped by a ridiculously strong, stunningly gorgeous woman who thinks he’s Cheltam–a criminal mastermind whose persona he used to adopt as a cover for his actual role as a lawman.
Erin is desperate. She’s managed to escape her horrifically abusive creators and the lab where she and her siblings were routinely experimented on in the name of “science.” She needs Cheltam’s help to recover her siblings, rescue the other victims, and destroy the lab to prevent this from continuing to happen.
The Perfect Creation is a fast-paced adventure with Rafe and Erin discovering that their temporary partnership might be the best thing that either of them has ever had. Interesting world-building, an entertaining cast of supporting characters, and plenty of heat make this a page-turning read. I definitely look forward to the rest of Ms Harte’s series!
It has been a while since I’ve read sci-fi story.
I like other books by Mrs. Harte, so I want to read this one.
Loved the story line, that female character is very strong .
Loved other characters.
Can’t wait to read other books in series.
I’ve never been a fan of alien stories. Or at least so I thought. However, I am a fan of Marie Harte, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m so glad I did! This book is excellent in not only the romance of it, but the drama and action as well. I will for sure be looking forward to more. It’s a definite must read!
A romantic Sci-Fi with many twists and turns and trying to help Erin in her fight against the creators. Can she and Rafe take care of the problem ahead of them or will he hurt her in the end. I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
