From New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand, comes a novel about the many ways family can fill our lives with love…if they don’t kill us first. *New York Times bestseller* It’s Nantucket wedding season, also known as summer-the sight of a bride racing down Main Street is as common as the sun setting at Madaket Beach. The Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: … Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom’s wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate.
But it’s going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before the ceremony-and everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect. As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash interviews the bride, the groom, the groom’s famous mystery-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he discovers that every wedding is a minefield-and no couple is perfect. Featuring beloved characters from The Castaways, Beautiful Day, and A Summer Affair, The Perfect Couple proves once again that Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer beach read.

Once you read the first words in this novel, you will be hooked! Greer, her husband Tag are giving their son Benji and his fiancé Celeste the wedding of their dreams at the family retreat on Nantucket Island. Celeste is over whelmed with all the festivities that her stutter reappears, only with Benji though! This book is filled with other wonderful characters, Bruce and Karen Celeste’s parents (Karen is dying which is why Greer and Tag are giving the wedding), Merritt the best friend and maid of honor, Thomas and his wife Abby (the groom’s brother and wife) and Shooter the best man. When Merritt is found on the wedding day morning by the bride, drowned in the ocean well that just opens a pandora’s box better left closed! Who did it? who had the most to lose or gain if Merritt was out of the picture? A page turner for sure.
I’ve read very little from Elin Hilderbrand, but the ratings have been so high with this 2018 release that I just couldn’t resist. I have to agree with the masses. The Perfect Couple was a great read. It is an exploration of families and relationships with a death investigation as the backdrop. Key word: backdrop. In my opinion, if you view this story as only a murder mystery, you may leave severely disappointed. But if you open yourself up to meet a variety of characters with wide ranges of histories, dysfunction and values, then you might end up really enjoying the reading experience. Filled with drama, romance, mystery, secrets, complicated emotions and… did I say drama? Yep. Weddings will do that to you. But Hilderbrand also adds tenderness, love and support and I could not get enough. Fast-paced and entertaining, I thoroughly enjoyed The Perfect Couple. I left the experience incredibly satisfied and very eager to check out more of Hilderbrand’s books.
This formula is similar to Castaways. I like Elin Hiderbrand’s writing style but lately her storylines are simplistic and repetitive even for a beach read.
Loved it! As I love ALL Elin Hilderbrand books!!!!
Great book couldn’t put down.wanted to see what happens next.
Another great one by Elin. Read it in 24 hours. Sad that I have to wait a year for her next book.
Absolutely loved this book! It was all I could do NOT to let my eyes jump ahead to see what was going to happen. There were so many layers – the characters ran a breadth of circumstances in life. I particularly identified with the main character and her conflit: do what she wanted, or do what everyone expected.
A rainy summer day calls for a day of reading; I read this book through in one day. What’s better than a Nantucket summer wedding; except when there is a murder to solve. So many characters have you thinking ah ha….that’s what happened or that’s who did it. Several twists and turns. Great easy read for summer! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Loved the book until the end…would prefer to know outcome of characters
I really enjoyed this book because the characters were engaging and the flow was excellent. It wasn’t a “deep” read but it was a very cool summer book …sort of like a modern day Agatha Christie
I don’t usually read, ‘summer reads’, & happened upon this at the local library. Due to it being a new release it was available for only 7 days.
I finished it in 2!
I throughly enjoyed it! It was light reading, fun, with great characters you could sink your teeth into.
Very well written.
Did I mention the author has a wonderful sense of humor as we!!
I am now onto her 5th book & have yet to be disappointed.
lots of twists & turns
You think you know who did it but you don’t….until the very last couple of pages. Great book!
Classic Hildebrand page-turner with the biggest surprises in the last chapter! You never know how the ending will be, and she leaves you hoping for a sequel every time!
One of my very favorite authors, always so entertaining and love the beach reads
Not my favorite but it was good nonetheless!
I love Hilderbrand’s books and give most of them 5 stars. Her stories are engrossing, hard to put down. They are all great beach reads.
This was the first book by this author that I had read and it was not a disappointment. I absolutely loved it. I read it in two days. It’s a quick read and one that keeps you guessing until the end. Loved it! Can’t wait for more from her.
I love all of her books and this one is no exception! I hated to see it come to an end! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a book that you hate to put down!
Excellent read
