Great start to a fun new series. Mystic Keep is a fabulously entertaining town to visit. Klutzy witch, Cassie Black, has her hands full in this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud paranormal mystery romance. I’m intrigued to see what will happen next with the Perfect Brew coffee shop’s future and Cassie’s romances with a cop, a warlock, and a vampire. Loved the coffee quotes!
I really enjoyed this story.
This is a very original cozy. The premise behind the coffee shop is like nothing I’ve ever read. It’s a very quick read with enjoyable characters. I especially liked Sid, the familiar. She’s funny!

Cassie Black has been volunteered by her family to attend her great-aunt Ophelia’s funeral and handle the estate. However, things are not that simple and she soon finds herself the inheritor of a paranormal coffee shop and smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation. All she wanted was to get to town and handle the estate within a few days. She never thought she would be inheriting anything. Instead, Cassie witnesses the estate lawyer die from poisoning and herself bound in business with a seductive warlock. She also appears to be stuck in town as she is part of a curse which she and said Warlock are in charge of taking care of.

Bumpy Start Morphs Into Good Read
I enjoy a good cozy mystery. This one, unfortunately, started off with an information dump, which I never like in any sort of fiction that I read. It did get better after that. The heroine got more than she bargained for when she came to a small town in the Pacific Northwest to settle her great-aunt’s affairs. The now-deceased lady has left the heroine a coffee shop… and a curse. Soon, a second body drops, and the heroine has determined to help figure out who the murderer is. She’s got a little something going on the romance front as well, or at least potentially. I found this novel a quirky and enjoyable read, which is how I like my paranormal cozy mysteries.

The start of a new series Perfect Brew Cozy series it is well written and kept me turning pages, but it also leaves you with alot of unanswered questions. This is Cassie/Cassiopeia Joy Black’s story, I wonder what is to come in the next book. I enjoyed reading the coffee quotes one of my favorites was “If you love somebody let them go … If they come back with coffee, it was meant to be.” I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cassie Black is summoned to attend the funeral of her great Aunt Ophelia. She learns she inherits all her assets including a sentient coffee shop. Mix in witches, a sexy warlock, a hot police detective and a murder. Fantastic read, and it left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book! Cassie finds an unexpected inheritance of The Perfect Brew from her great-aunt Orphelia has kept her in the town of Mystic Keep. That, and, of course, a sudden death in her presence. Although she intended to leave, there is more going on than anyone tells her and she’s determined to find the truth. The Perfect Brew is an entertaining novel I enjoyed.

When her aunt passes away from cancer, Cassie Black, a witch, inherits a coffee house that has a mind of its own. Her original plan was to sell everything and leave town as fast as she can. Between the house, the curse and other things at play her plans have changed. She has major issues with backing up her car, both times she hits the same car belonging to a local cop who is hot. She keeps dropping her gun at the most inappropriate moments, which is also funny. I loved her snarkiness and her familiar, this book had me laughing and I hated to see it end. I can’t wait for the next book.

A coffee shop with feelings and ideas? Oh dear that’s going to lead to a calamity or two!
Callie just wants to zip in and out of town. Scoop up her inhertitance from great-aunt Ophelia and vamoose. It’s not like they were close family, she wasn’t allowed to spend time with her. But the will reading is…unusual to say the least!
Add in a particularly osy perigrine falcon and a fender bender with the only cop in town and Callie has a “wonderful” start to her visit. But how will she react when she realises that she can’t leave town and there is a warlock, armed with a chock load of charm, who is also rather interested in her?
Greet wee story!
This was pretty! Perfect for Halloween. The mystery was predictable but still enjoyable. The main character is cute and relatable. I enjoyed this mystery and would be interested in reading more
A fun and gripping whodunit full of magical twists!
If you love supernatural romances filled with witches, warlocks, black magic and curses, then you are in for a treat with Jo-Ann Carson’s 1st story ‘The Perfect Brew’. You’ll spend a wonderful and fun afternoon following Cassie in her new adventure! It’s a well written cozy mystery that I couldn’t put down. I giggled during some funny scenes.
Cassie Black is a good witch who does not know all her powers. When her great-aunt Ophelia suddenly dies, Cassie decides to do her own investigation and find out the real cause of her death. She decides to leave for Mystic Brew, with her cat Sid, where she meets some tall sexy and gorgeous men such as Gavin a cop, Sanjay a warlock and Oscar. Arriving at Mystic Brew, a picturesque village on the Pacific west coast, she learns that she has inherited all of Ophelia’s possessions, including a coffee shop ‘The Perfect Brew’ where she will live all sorts of rocky and wacky moments with her new friends. They are so mysterious, she doesn’t really know which one to trust. However, when magic is all over, unexplained events happen and Cassie will have her hands full of energy. A coffee shop with a twist!
I’m excited to read Cassie’s new adventure in ‘A Double Shot of Dead’ in her Ms. Carson’s new trilogy. Thank you for writing this genre, it was so much fun to read!
New to me author.
This is a fantastic light paranormal read.
We get mystery and basically a who done it.
Cassie finds herself having to go deal with her great aunts’ estate.
And that leads to things she wasn’t prepared for.
Something witchy this way comes is kinda how it feels reading this story.
Grab this cute, sweet read and get lost in the mystery.
I truly enjoyed it.
I’ve really enjoyed this authors previous work and was looking forward to this new series about Cassie a Witch who inherits a coffee shop in a very quirky town. This is basically the foundation of the world the author is introducing her readers to with murder, mystery and what to me felt like the oddest romance.. Cassie is attracted to law hunk Gavin and also pernickety Warlock Sanjay which clearly muddies the romantic waters. There are some explanations here but for this reader it just lacked something and I didn’t really believe in the way the various characters behaved. Still it is just setting up the series so hopefully these characters will become more realistic in the next book because it looks like Cassie has a job to do !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This was kind of a fun, quirky read. Cassie gets drawn in to a slew of things he never saw coming and isn’t at all prepared for, but she manages to handle most of them with great care.
This is a series starter, so there is a lot of backstory and world-building that occurs. Still, the overall story kind of falls flat. There just doesn’t seem to be as much substance to things as there could be, and the problems don’t seem to be as worrisome or urgent as you would think they should.
The characters were all kind of flat, and I had a hard time relating to any of them. And I really don’t understand the whole love triangle thing, because none of them seemed to have much of a connection.
Overall, this book wasn’t great, but it was okay for a quick read when you want something vaguely in the paranormal mystery arena but also very light. I wouldn’t mind trying future volumes in the series to see if it improves any.
