He’s a professional hockey player that lives on the edge. I prefer to play life by the rules. I’m the personal assistant at a sports agency that no one notices. Unless they need coffee.I don’t like sports and I like professional athletes even less. I’m indifferent to the mostly male clientele, except for one.Mica “the savage” Petrov. When it comes to wild antics, Mica is the biggest offender of … antics, Mica is the biggest offender of them all.
He’s reckless, wild and carelessly charming.
I’m mortified that I find him attractive.
But it doesn’t matter because the guy hasn’t taken a second look at me.
Not once. In two years.
Mica’s career jeopardizing situation requires drastic measures to be taken to keep him in the game.
He’s got money, I’ve got debt and my boss has a crazy idea.
Which is how I found myself stepping up to save him from himself.
But at what cost?
How long can I keep fighting my attraction?
What ghosts from his past is he brawling with?
All I know is that I need to defend my heart before this big defenseman steals it away.
Can we win this game? Or is it too late for either of us?

I’ve been waiting months for this book to come out, and it does not disappoint! This is one of the best sports romance series out there. Mica is everything you could ever want in a sexy Russian hockey player and then some. He can boss me around any day! Odette has done it again, and I can’t wait for the next one!
I love this author’s writing – she’s so talented. and I don’t say that about every author. I rarely give 5 star reviews. I love the slow build-up and how the characters really get fleshed out before they get busy together. That makes everything so much better, especially with a little angst and uncertainty. This book is no exception, although now i have to go back and reread Home Game because when I read that one, my mental picture of Mica was a little different. loved this book!
Okay, another fabulous story by an amazing author. This book covers it all, a suspenseful, sensual, sensational story.
Just the tip of what can be said about this book.
Read this in one day and could not stop.
Loved Mica and Charlie. You played them very well together and the ‘dance’ around their true feelings.
Especially withholding Mica’s real issues. Well done.
The fact that men aren’t normally in tune with their feelings helped make this seem realistic and not contrived.
Odette uses real, usual feelings and emotions that we understand in her characters.
A must read. Exceptional, excellent story.
Provided an ARC copy for which I will only provide an honest review. I wouldn’t give this review if I didn’t believe you will love this book.
This book pulls you in from the first sentence and never lets you go! It is one of those books, that make you laugh, makes you cry, keeps you in suspense until the very end as well as pulling on all your heart strings. It is not just your typical romance book, yes it has romance but it also has a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end, I was blow away when the mystery was solved. Mica is the epitome of every book boyfriend that you could ever want, he is pure Alpha and may have ruined me for other book boyfriends! Charlie, won my heart over with her strength and beautiful soul and is everything you would want in a heroine. I highly recommend this book, it is a page turner, you will NOT want to put it down until you have read every single last word. Odette Stone has a way of writing that makes you feel everything that the characters are feeling, it’s almost like you are right there in the scene with the characters! Please, PLEASE go read this book, you definitely will not be disappointed!
Loved the story and the characters! Well written, couldn’t put it down.
Charlie agrees to a marriage of convenience to help save the hockey career of her secret crush Mica. She works in the PR sports agency that represents him but he has never really noticed her, calls her Little Krista after her boss. He not only notices her, but starts feeling sexy thoughts about her. She meanwhile seems to be stalked when Mica is at away games so he gets her a guard dog. His mother comes to visit and they have to share a bed and one thing leads to another. Mica was traumatized as a child when his nanny died in childbirth and is adamant he does not want kids. Whoops should have put a glove on it because Charlie gets pregnant and he freaks out. They finally work through his issues and she gets kidnapped. He saved her and they have their HEA. Anyone reading this book must download the bonus epilogue for more of their story. Highly recommend.
So glad Mica’s story has been written! The Penalty Box is a great continuation of Odette Stone’s series. I did not put it down until I had finished the entire book! I loved how she included characters from the previous books and made it feel as though they were an important part of Mica’s and Charlie’s story. Mica and Charlie had chemistry as well as laughter and some pretty intense moments throughout this book. It is definitely worth reading and I hope she continues the series. I can’t wait for the next one.
Penalty Box by Author Odette Stone is a steaming hot hockey/fake marriage romance! First of all…can you go wrong when hockey is involved? NO! Second…a fake marriage to someone who is dead set against getting married…awesome!
This is book 3 in the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series, and it can be read as a standalone…speaking from personal experience. (However, after reading this I immediately downloaded books 1 and 2 in the series!) This is my first read from this author, but definitely won’t be my last! Odette Stone writes such a good storyline! Even though there were a few different events going on throughout this book, they are meshed perfectly! This was easy to read, very enjoyable, all of the characters were great, and the heat…wow! Hockey player, Mica, and his fake-wife, Charlie, could melt the ice! 5 pucking stars from me!
Holy wow! This book has left me speechless. There is so much going on in this book and I don’t dare talk about any of it or I’m going to give away all the best parts of the story. Charlie and Mica are a perfect pairing and I loved watching them fight their attraction. Fake relationship stories are some of my favorite types of stories simply because you know that no matter how hard the leading couple try to deny any real feelings, the love bug is going to bite them in the end. And learning Mica’s reasons for being so resistant to the marriage left me nearly in tears. I thoroughly enjoyed all the drama and tension in this book, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This book has many things going for but the best thing that I found though was that it was unpredictable.
Mica and Charlie enter into a marriage of convenience but once they come to terms with everything have amazing chemistry together. They just work, the slow burn aspect is fantastic. Past hurts and guilt are worked on and even with that said, the angst was not overwhelming. These two are my most favorite Odette Stone couple.
I can’t wait for the next book!
Mica and Charlie draw readers into the story in the first pages of the book. I ended up carting my ebook everywhere with me today to grab a few minutes here and there to continue reading this story. Mica is a Russian-Canadian professional hockey player, and Charlie is a young marketing assistant to a sports agent. Mica and Charlie think a platonic relationship is possible until they realize their feelings are much deeper. A great HEA, supporting characters I want to read more about, and a book series I now need to start reading from the first story until this one.
A stand alone novel, but the book makes me want to find out more about some other characters, like Zoe and Ryan. Andrusha might need a book of his own someday!
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review, but I did go and buy the book myself. It is a keeper.
Impossible to put down from the very beginning, The Penalty Box is fake relationship romance at its finest. Featuring two leads who seem to be total opposites but who have palpable chemistry, the story follows a pro hockey player, Mica, whose reputation has become so tarnished that he needs to settle down and marry if he wants to remain on the team. Enter Charlie, the forgettable assistant to his agent. The two have known each other for a few years but while Mica doesn’t think about Charlie much, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. She doesn’t like hockey, she doesn’t like his wild behavior and she doesn’t like the string of puck bunnies he’s left in his wake. But they both have their reasons for going along with the plan to get married, and they’re hoping to make the best of a bad situation.
This book drew me in from the very start. Both Mica and Charlie are extremely likeable and I found myself rooting for them right away. Mica believes that Charlie dislikes him (a belief she’s intentionally tried to cultivate), and he’s never even considered her as anything other than an assistant – though you wouldn’t know it from the way he acts around her. Mica is a big, loveable and protective teddy bear who has his reasons for avoiding commitment. The journey from semi-strangers to lovers was an engrossing one, and when you add in the suspenseful subplot, there was never a dull moment along the way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have recently developed a thing for hockey romances and this one did not disappoint! It sucked me in from the start and I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book by Odette Stone that I have read and I will be back for more.
Holy smokes is Mica hot! He needs to get married to a “good girl” in order to save his career with the team he loves. Charlie is his Agent’s PA and has had a crush on Mica for two years. Talk about the perfect set up for a great romance. 🙂 They have crazy chemistry that they both try to fight but in the end, it’s just too powerful to ignore. This book has it all – fake marriage that turns real, sexy chemistry, suspense, heartbreak and happily ever after.
I have to say I love this book. From the time I started it I was lost in another world, one created by Odette and I could not stop until I read the last page. The story was well written, and the storyline was well thought out. There was a lot of emotion. Mica has his own baggage that will break your heart and Charlie has not had an easy life either. While the story will tug at your heart, in places it will make you tear up it is also warm and fun that will have you laughing in other spots. There is also a subplot in the story that is filled with danger and suspense, but it is well written and adds to the story without taking over the plot or felling unnecessary or contrived. It all comes together in a natural way. In the end, they both get the happy ever after they deserve.
This is the 3rd book in this series and it can be read alone but I would recommend reading them all because they are awesome. But reading the 2nd book Home Game does introduce you to Mica and some of the other characters in the story.
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. But even if I had not gotten an advanced copy it was on my list of books I was waiting to be released so I would have bought it anyway.
“It felt too real, too intense, to be anything but.”
The Penalty Box is a slow burn marriage of inconvenience (lol) read. Mica and Charlie are reluctant to get fake married to save Mica’s career on the ice, but once they come together they can’t resist the natural attraction they have toward each other. It’s a slow burn, but once they start burning it is HOTTT. I enjoyed this story, because they truly do fall in love during the story. The attraction is quick, but the feelings take some time. There is a bit of a suspenseful side plot. There’s some angst, but honestly the couple navigates it all well. Such a good read and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author!!
Page one, The Penalty Box sucks you into Mica and Charlie’s ever so good story! I seriously had a hard time putting it down. Chemistry, humor, intrigue, heat, and hockey – what else could you want in a romance??!! I totally recommend and encourage you to download this book. You won’t be disappointed!!
Mica is a hockey god for the Vancouver wolves who’s finally gone too far in his brush with the law and pushed his coach to his limits. He needs to clean up his act fast if he wants any chance of continuing to play hockey for the Wolves.
Charlie is a shy, beautiful & hard working assistant to Mica’s PR manager, Krista. Every time Charlie sees Mica, her heart races at the sight of him but she winds up spewing acid & venom his way if only to protect her heart.
Like oil and vinegar, these two, but put them together and they have the potential to be amazing.
To save his hockey career, Krista decides Mica needs to settle down and be fake married for a year. Charlie works tirelessly with Krista to find a suitable spouse for Mica, but in the end they are unable to find a suitable candidate. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Krista tries to convince Charlie and Mica to be fake married for one year. They will have to live together and in public appear as a happy newlywed couple, but at home be mere roommates.
Soon after they are married and Charlie moves in, weird things begin to happen. Mica’s protective nature is thrown into overdrive and he suddenly realizes how much he cares for his kind, sexy wife. Multiple people try to drive a wedge into this couple as their relationship blossoms from in name only to screaming your name in the throws of ecstasy.
When Mica’s worst nightmare comes true, will he be able to conquer the demons of his past & stand his ground with Charlie or will he push her away and destroy all their dreams of true happiness?
xoxo,
Piper
OMG Odette totally lit the lamp with this one. I started to fall for Mica back in Home Game but oh my word was he perfect in this. Him and Charlie were just so damn perfect for each other. I laugh, I cry, I sat on the edge of my seat NEEDING to know what happened next. It was so, so, so good.

Freaking loved The Penalty Box. I couldn’t put it down, I literally stayed up til 5 in the morning to finish it!! Mica’s career is in jeopardy. Last ditch effort to save said career he gets faked married. Charlie is amazingly independent but is struggling. Secretly Charlie has lusted after Mica for two years. Nothing could go wrong, right?!?! Their chemistry is off the charts!! Fantastic storyline with stunning characters. I recommend this book!!! MUST READ!!!
