He’s a professional hockey player that lives on the edge. I prefer to play life by the rules. I’m the personal assistant at a sports agency that no one notices. Unless they need coffee.I don’t like sports and I like professional athletes even less. I’m indifferent to the mostly male clientele, except for one.Mica “the savage” Petrov. When it comes to wild antics, Mica is the biggest offender of … antics, Mica is the biggest offender of them all.
He’s reckless, wild and carelessly charming.
I’m mortified that I find him attractive.
But it doesn’t matter because the guy hasn’t taken a second look at me.
Not once. In two years.
Mica’s career jeopardizing situation requires drastic measures to be taken to keep him in the game.
He’s got money, I’ve got debt and my boss has a crazy idea.
Which is how I found myself stepping up to save him from himself.
But at what cost?
How long can I keep fighting my attraction?
What ghosts from his past is he brawling with?
All I know is that I need to defend my heart before this big defenseman steals it away.
Can we win this game? Or is it too late for either of us?

This was a new author for me, but I am a sucker for all Hockey books. I really enjoyed the story here and the interplay of the characters. Mica was great, and this book was so fun. After I finished this one I immediately went and read the other books in this series. They are all great.
Oh my, this book was.not what I was expecting, it was even better.
So it starts off as most, a hockey players who likes to play, finds himself in a position that he has to clean up his act. But the twist on the story is not only his history that comes into play but also neighbor you do not see coming.
It is a great read, that had me keep turning the pages.

The third book in the A Vancouver Wolves Hockey series there is suspense, drama, twists, turns, danger, attempted murder, kidnapping, and romance between Mica “the savage” Petrov and Charlie a woman with a brother who has caused he a lot of problems. I enjoyed reading and I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I totally enjoyed this book with the great character and storyline development that as I turned each and every page I felt like Mica and Charlie jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it effortlessly unfolded!
I love Charlie. She is a realist, pragmatic, snarky, sweet and gets over her fears. This book is full of friends, villains, and frenemies. Mica is so much a better man than anyone knows and he has his deep seated fears and problems to overcome. There are twists and turns and action to keep you reading. You don’t know whether the bad guys might be Jasper, Mark, Zoey, Krista, Tony, Sniper, Sasha, Andrew, Yazimoto, Jody, Andrusha, Sabrina or even mama Yelena. The secondary characters in this book are an integral part of this story and even though I didn’t like her at first, I think my favorite secondary character might just be mama Yelena. I was surprised about who walked away when the time came for that part of the drama, I truly expected it to go the other way. The writing was excellent. It kept the book moving smoothly, with a fast pace and kept me awake until after 4am reading. I could not put it down. I absolutely love this story and there is so much uniqueness to it all.

I really enjoyed this one. This is my first story from this author and I can’t wait to read more. The writing flows smoothly and the author skillfully balances all the story elements to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering how things are going to play out.
Without rehashing the blurb, Mica is a star hockey player and Charlie is the person who he reluctantly agrees to marry for one year in hopes of having it appear as if he’s settling down and cleaning up his “bad boy” reputation. Problem is, Charlie’s been crushing on him for two years and Mica is completely against the idea of marriage. In spite of their hesitations – and they both have their reasons – they agree to marry.
There’s so much going on in this story, it’s best to stay away from any spoilers. There’s a little bit of action, a hint of suspense, a lot of smexy times, and a whole heck of a lot of emotion with a building romance and a ton of love. The characters are all fully fleshed out and multi-layered. I loved seeing Mica’s guard slowly come down. The chemistry and ease between him and Charlie gave me the warm and fuzzies and had me smiling. The heat and attraction is there, the emotion is ever-present, the slow-building love makes your heart melt, and their connection is strong. Add in a sprinkle of family, friends, and dogs and you’ve got one heck of read. But then there’s more with the additional suspense/mystery element thrown in. All work together with the sports storyline to give you a rich, fulfilling read that will keep you turning the page.
I ended the story with a few unanswered questions and I would have loved to have had a secondary epilogue fast-forwarding a few years, but that’s me wanting more. By the close of this story, I was smiling and had no doubt they would stand the test of time. This is definitely a recommended read.

Grabs Your Attention From The First Page – Russian Party Guy & Hockey Player Mica Is Forced To Fake Marry Good Girl Charlie!
Mica Petrov has a reputation for partying. He also has Russian mob ties. He left Russia at age nineteen, was signed by the Wolves, and seven years later still sports #28 for the Canadian team. He enjoys many women, including his share of puck bunnies, but never had a serious relationship. In fact, he made no bones about the fact that he would never marry and never have children.
Charlie works two full time jobs and still cannot make ends meet. She is a PA by day for Krista, who runs a top PR sport agency, and a bartender by night. She is swimming in debt. As PA, she interacts with all sorts of famous athletes, but only one has caught her attention during her two years on the job: the insanely handsome and savage Mica. She is good at her job, though, and manages not to swoon in his presence. Instead, she is rather hostile towards him, which isn’t too hard because she doesn’t even really like him as a person.
When Mica gets caught up in something big, the heat is on and his career is in jeopardy. The only way to save himself is by a wild PR stunt. Krista arranges it so that he keeps his job if he marries her PA – the feisty, ‘good girl’ Charlie.
They just have to be roommates for the year and attend public appearances together. It won’t be a real marriage. But things quickly become all too real and very complicated. Admirers, family, friends, work, mafia, and law enforcement all pose problems for Mica and Charlie as they try to tread water in their new marriage and become acquainted with one another.
This book has it all: romance, hot alpha, sassy heroine, sports, danger, and suspense. It is very well-written and grabs your attention from the first page. The characters feel real. Charlie is hard-working and honest. Mica is loved by all, and his bad reputation can mostly be attributed to guilt by associstion. Mica suffers from an event in his past; is is rewarding to see him finally work through his issues. Mica and Charlie have great chemistry and the tension between them is electric. They earn their HEA! Don’t forget to download the free bonus epilogue.
One issue bothered me. It felt like it took much too long for Charlie to understand that Andrew’s attentions were inappropriate. She handled it poorly. I was also surprised by Mica’s tolerance. Certainly he might have calmly explained that even if Andrew was harmless, the appearance of his presence was cause for conern given their marriage was based on the need for Mica to appear solid and stable. Charlie opened herself up to scrutiny and it was her job to know better. Thus this didn’t seem authentic.
I would give this book 4.5 stars if possible.

An aloof administrative assistant with a crush gets the opportunity of a lifetime when said crush needs to rescue his image by agreeing to a fake marriage to save his hockey career. What no one knew were all the secrets hidden by both. This story, for me, was so incredible that I found every spare movie to read this book, and didn’t want to put it down. Both Mica and Charlie have baggage, scars, and incredible struggles, and Odette Stone made me fall for and care for these characters. I cried, I laughed, and I even yelled at the hockey scenes because I became so engrossed in this story. I absolutely loved it!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

ONE INTENSE ADVENTURE!!!
Pucker up! All the chaotic mayhem add spice to the mix heating up all the flaming, sizzling and electrifying chemistry that blows this baby wide open. A heart stopping tale that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. All the drama, intrigue, danger and suspense make for one exciting experience. Twists and turns abound with startling revelations that thrusts this bad boy to life beautifully. A swirling eddy of vexing circumstances and surprising events blasts those spinning emotions together piece by piece. Drawing you in so deep until nothing else exists. The characters are authentic and relatable with on point personalities that bend and flow. The scenes are vividly descriptive in the realistic true to life form. Fantastic job Odette, thanks for sharing this awesome gem with us.
I thought that this was a very good read. I found a surprising amount of sweetness in Charlie and Mica’s romance. The story quickly captured my attention and held on to it fiercely. I really liked these characters and I felt deeply for them. Mica with his painful emotional baggage and shields around his heart and Charlie’s unrequited crush and spunkiness made for a perfect pairing and a book that was both cute and touching.
Oh, this is one of my favorite authors and this is by far my favorite book of hers. Mica was such a compelling character that you felt for his anguish and pain and wanted to soothe him. His past had such a hold on his future that it broke your heart. You wanted to hate his mother upon first impression but couldn’t help but like her shortly after. Baby Krista, can’t help but be impressed by her fortitude and strength. There is more to this than just a love story. There is passion, intrigue, crazy neighbors and dogs. Loved it.

When I began reading this book I wasn’t quite sure if I would like it. I was never big into sports romances, so I was not sure how well I would follow and keep an interest in the storyline. However, this book transcended beyond what I could have ever imagined. The characters, Mica, Charlie and co.,will touch your heart and continue to grow on you. This novel touched upon romance added with tragedy and loss. It was also a mystery and thriller. You’ll be kept on your feet with ever turn trying to figure out who is after our main character, Charlie. Even going through these ups and downs there is plenty of time for some steamy sex! This book will show you that even through the toughest of times and a sad and tragic past that true love and strong friendships can conquer all. For those of you who subscribe to Odette’s newsletter, you’ll be lucky enough to get a link to an added racy bonus chapter! I can’t say enough about how good this book was. So what are you waiting for? Go out and buy it!! Odette Stone really out did herself with this novel.
HEA
I loved the story of Charlie and Mica, and I really enjoyed the writing style of this author. This is the third standalone in a series but even though I have not read the first two I did not feel like I was missing anything. There were a few small references to what I assume happened in the other books but nothing that stole from the story! Charlie and Mica got married to save his carrer and because Charlie was in dept because of her brother. They had a rocky start and a lot happens in the story, but it is so worth reading! I could not stopp untill I had finished it!

Is there a penalty for finding the right partner? Micah, bad boy of hockey needs an image enancement. A solution is a marriage of convenience to clean up his act. How long can he tolerate the inconvenience? What happens when he actually starts to like Charlie? Do they stand a chance? Does Charlie like him back? Can he turn his marriage real? What happens if the secret gets out? Nice story. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Wooooooah!
First time reader of Odette Stone’s and I freaking looooved it!
Okay, Mica kind of annoyed me to start off with, but, the further into the book I got, the further I fell for him.
I absolutely adored Charlie. I loved her take no BS attitude, her spunk and sass.
The chemistry was insane – like crazy hot.
Drama, lust, danger, crazy and love all made an appearance in this page turning story.
Such a magnificent book – all the feels.
Oh and that extra chapter on offer? Scorching hot! I devoured that straight away!
This book held my interest from page one. Mica doesn’t ever want to get married or have children. If he wants to stay on his hockey team he’ll have to do the first and get married. His agent gets her assistant to agree to a platonic marriage to him for a year. Sparks fly but he still doesn’t want forever. I really enjoyed this book.
This is my first book by Odette Stone and I am already scouring her backlist.
I liked the hero and the heroine in this story. Charlie has crushed on handsome hockey player Mica for 2 years and when he needs a fake wife to save his hockey career, she agrees to it. She knows it is only for 1 year. Mica doesn’t like or want to get married. His parents were not the greatest example and he doesn’t like to fake things. But he wants to play with the Vancouver Wolves and he also feels protective towards Charlie when she needs help, so they get married.
What I liked: the honesty and chemistry between the MC’s. Their relationship developed naturally. I could connect to both of them.
What I wondered about: who Jasper was. He is Charlie’s friend without any real background who just flies in and out of the story and who she texts with?
What I liked (a bit) less: there was too much drama for the story. I could understand the tragic background for Mica and the whole Russian business which was the catalyst for the marriage. But there were 3 (!) other storylines and sometimes ‘less is more’.
There was a good epilogue and there was a possibility to download some bonus chapters. Nice!
Overall a 4,5* for me, but I pushed it up to 5 because I could not stop reading.
(2019)
Absolutely, loved this book. Ms. Stone captures the characters with so much depth, you don’t want to put this book down. Literally read this in one day, because I had to know how it was going to end. It will not disappoint, cannot wait to read the rest of this series and possibly a spin-off or two.

Another great edition to this series and loving it Odette. We kind of got a glimpse about Mica in Zoey and Ryan’s story “Home Game” but learned much more about him in the story. Charlie was a strong female character that gave as good as she got. Loved the verbal sparring and off the charts chemistry once they figured things out.
4 1/2 stars
This smoking hockey romance series just gets better and better with each new book this author writes. You will swoon, and sweat over these hockey players and the lucky women who get to fall for them. The writing, the emotions, the characters. All of it was perfection for these book. Happy reading!!
