“This is not your usual alien vs humanity novel”You have to feel sorry for an alien who wakes up on Earth after hibernating for millennia only to find his own race gone – destroyed centuries earlier by a ruthless hive of artificial intelligence. All that remains are humans, who have yet to evolve sufficiently to bypass their own shortcomings and unify as a race to work toward a common goal. The … toward a common goal.
The alien, Zirkos, chooses to befriend a US Vet named Zeke Callaghan who possesses a rare component he needs to complete his spaceship’s revival – an exotic meteor fragment currently buried in Zeke’s head. A bond is forged between the two bringing with it remarkable technological advances in personal safety and an end to humanity’s incessant demand for war. The breakthrough ultimately proves a catalyst to launch humanity into space.
From there events quickly take on a life of their own as the duo battle to bring Earth to a state of readiness to defend them from the approaching threat of ‘The Nubl’.more
A good read…
An enjoyable read
If only the problems of the world were as easy as this story depicts. A good adolescent read. This doesn’t beat the mind with loads of tech, but gives the reader great descriptions and interactions between characters.
OK, here’s the plot. Loner earthman hooks up with a seemingly all-powerful alien to win the girl, save the day, and prove himself worthy of admiration by a world in which he barely matters. I’ve always liked the asteroid mining business as a backdrop, and the main guy, while somewhat whiny, isn’t too bad. He diddles where any other red-blooded …
Most enjoyable. The story made for interesting reading that felt like I like to feel when I pick up a book for leisure.
Very nice twist, Thanks
I really liked this story at the beginning, but I stopped at 62%. I enjoyed Zirkos and his artificial intelligences at first, but somewhere in there it seemed they changed to using magic instead of science.
I got tired of everything being told, and told in a dry and boring way. The characters were very dry and dull, and also predictable. I think …
It had an interesting plot.
Wonderful series, didn’t want it to end!
very good read
Well Written, different for a SciFi Book.
didn’t care for it, didn’t finish it, read first few chapters, I gave it a shot
the first part was quite interesting, but the pattern building is sooo convenient. it’s a fun read.
As a sci-fi fan, I loved this intriguing fictional novel. I was impressed by the technology that the author created.
Great series. I can see this as a movie of the likes of Star Wars
Got d read
Great book that explores how earth might response to helpful aliens from outer space. Author explores the role of AI in supporting the growth of AI/Human/alien interests. Good insight to human behavior that even when all advantages provided, mankind still want more especially for selfish reasons. Author does show the strength of mankind in …
In sci-fi, the sky’s the limit. No excuse for poor results. Not recommended.
Good sci fi
Flowed well, good characters, and plot is good
