I really enjoyed this read! I have previously read No Man Left Behind by R.G Miller and so was already familiar with the characters and their history, and I would recommend reading that book before this one for those reasons. This book continues the story of Iris and Toni and is an amazing book which builds mystery and suspense throughout which makes it such a captivating book! I loved the crime thriller aspect of the story as this was done really well with the use of indirect discourse as the reader gets a glimpse at the ‘killer’s’ perspective as well as the detectives’. Coupled with this is the story of Iris and Toni’s relationship which is slightly strained due to their new arrival, Jasmine. I liked how – as well as the crime thriller narrative – the reader is shown the private lives of the detectives which is also very interesting. Overall, this was a great book! There are some tragic events and gory details but this is done very well and is necessary to the plot. I would definitely recommend this book and the book which tells their previous story as well.
