I love all of Ava’s books. They just keep you turning the pages.
This is a most satisfying conclusion to the Dare River series’ which more than anything was about family. The family you are born into, the family you learn to forsake for your sanity and family you create. It is about how the people you love can love you through anything. This book is a continuation of the
McGuinness story line and introduces us to Paige Bradshaw, the long lost sister of JP, Susannah, Shelby and Sadie. Expect laughter and tears and a little prayer but not in a preachy way. Sadie is a quilter and the theme of creating a family that is sometimes pieced together like parts of a quilt is an undercurrent of the book. Her love interest,
Paiges neighbors really Reilly is also an artist of a different kind. They are different from each other from their art to their musical tastes to their family relationships and watching them grow to love each other was special. Watching Paige become a part of the McGuinness family was beautiful as well. In addition to Reilly we meet his daughter Jess who is learning about her mother. I spent some time looking up the various quilt types that were spoken of in the book. Pictures would have been great!
This is a very sweet story. The characters are super and easy to like. Wonderful read!
I already posted a review! Being a quilter, I noticed a glaring error that no one caught. Fabric is not on spools, fabric is on bolts. They storyline was very good.
Enjoy Ava’s stories and especially the ones in this series.
Excellent all the way!!!! I loved how she put a beautiful touch to the ending also. Great job.
Loved the Whole series. It was nice not to have so much blatant sex in the story.
This series, the Dare River series, is great. I really enjoyed reading these, from book one until the end of the series. The people are wonderful to get to know and I love how Ava writes about each individual. I started another series, The Dare Valley series, as soon as I got done with the Dare River books. Her characters are likable (or unlikable, depending) and their problems and solutions are believable. She’s my new favorite author!
A good read.
Quick, enjoyable read!
Wonderful book. Felt like I was part of their lives. I liked that they touched on some sad situations that we all face, but are not usually mentioned in books. Also loved the quilting since I am a quilter
Nice addition to the series. I’ve been a fan since her book Nora Robert’s Land and I find this one just as good. Can be read as a stand alone but probably more fun to get to know the other siblings in the previous five books.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.
This is book six in the Dare River series. This series is about family. Each book covers difficulties any family might come across and how to overcome these difficulties as a family. Each subject was researched very well. The heavy moments were interspersed with lighthearted ones to keep the books from becoming depressing. As a quilter I appreciated the knowledgeable discussion of one of the character’s obsession in this particular book. If you like reading about family fun, family drama and happy endings, then you can’t go wrong with this series.
This lovely book hit home to the fiber artist I am. I loved the quilting group. Plus, the story is nice to visit after a rough world.
The Patchwork Quilt of Happiness is the sixth book in the Dare River series. I was so happy to have a book in this series to read again. Riley and Sadie’s story was just what I needed at the time. It was a very enjoyable story to read. I definitely recommend it.
Patchwork Quilt of Happiness Dare River Ava Miles
This is a lovely story of families, friends and new love. Sadie McGuinnes is the last of the family still single. She loves all her sisters and brother, and significant others, so is content to live her life enjoying all these relationships.
Sadie has recently discovered they have a half sister from an affair their father had with a young woman. It was years ago, but the family never recovered. When she found out about Paige Watkins, Sadie decided to take it upon herself to meet her and if possible gradually introduce her to the family. She bravely showed up on Paige’s doorstep one evening and is greeted by Riley Thomson, Paige and her husband’s next door neighbor. He is very attractive and funny and has an adorable daughter name Jess. She is best friends with Paige’s daughter Hayley, and the two families have a routine of child care and friendship that totally works. Riley is a comic book writer and illustrator. After exchanging numbers, he is thrilled when Sadie agrees on a date.
Paige, now Bradshaw, is overcome by the generosity and acceptance from the McGuinnes family. Each one welcoming her with open arms.
After a disastrous date, Sadie and Riley agree to try again and find lots more in common. A relationship is unfolding, and Sadie is thrilled. So is everyone else. But, a secret cooked up by Jess and Hailey turns into a disaster that threatens Sadie and Riley’s happiness. It takes some time and a lot of love to set it straight.
Jess and Hailey are adorable, so sweet and innocent, but confident in what they want. As always the Dare River characters pull at your heartstrings, with new babies joining the cousins, who welcome Jess and Hailey happily.
This a feel good story that keeps you smiling even after you finished.
I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.
