NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • American-born spy and code-breaker extraordinaire Maggie Hope secretly navigates Nazi-occupied France to find two brave women during the darkest days of World War II in the latest novel in this bestselling series—“a treat for WWII buffs and mystery lovers alike” (Booklist, on The Prime Minister’s Secret Agent). Maggie Hope has come a long way since serving as a typist … come a long way since serving as a typist for Winston Churchill. Now she’s working undercover for the Special Operations Executive in the elegant but eerily silent city of Paris, where SS officers prowl the streets in their Mercedes and the Ritz is draped with swastika banners. Walking among the enemy is tense and terrifying, and even though she’s disguised in chic Chanel, Maggie can’t help longing for home.
But her missions come first. Maggie’s half sister, Elise, has disappeared after being saved from a concentration camp, and Maggie is desperate to find her—that is, if Elise even wants to be found. Equally urgent, Churchill is planning the Allied invasion of France, and SOE agent Erica Calvert has been captured, the whereabouts of her vital research regarding Normandy unknown. Maggie must risk her life to penetrate powerful circles and employ all her talents for deception and spycraft to root out a traitor, find her sister, and locate the reports crucial to planning D-Day in a deadly game of wits with the Nazi intelligence elite.
Praise for The Paris Spy
“Engrossing . . . A fast-paced climax leads to an ending that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment.”—Publishers Weekly
“With its riveting plot and cliff-hanger finish, this is a solid addition to a series as well researched as it is entertaining.”—Booklist
“You will grieve with Paris. You will be outraged by the destruction. You will be terrified for all the heroes, be there with them every step, and care desperately that they succeed and survive. And perhaps above all, like me, you will be overwhelmed with their sacrifice for the freedom we still enjoy.”—Anne Perry, New York Times bestselling author of the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series and the William Monk series
“This has to be Maggie Hope’s most exciting adventure yet. Vivid and fast-paced, crammed with authentic detail, The Paris Spy is an extraordinary trip through the edgy drama of wartime Paris, skillfully plotted and studded with cameos by real historical figures.”—Jane Thynne, author of the Clara Vine series

This series is one of my favorite WW II historical mysteries. Maggie Hope is once again involved in dangerous situations, and it never turns out like I think it will. Definitely worth starting this series.
5 Stars
I’ve read all of the Maggie Hope series and enjoyed all of them.
Undercover in Nazi-occupied France
-Suitable for mature teens – adults
-Some harsh language – more often than not the author tells us that the person has used strong language. Most of us can guess what, due to the circumstances.
-Violence
-No sex
-Intense situations
Plot no spoilers:
Maggie, who has been on other spy missions, has arranged to be taken to occupied France so that she can search for her sister. This, in itself is dangerous. But then, while there she becomes involved in one of England’s most important missions to defeat the Nazis.
The author accurately gives us a glimpse of the despicable actions perpetrated by the Nazis during their occupation.
On several occasions it is noted that war is not a game. It is winner takes all and sometimes at terrible cost, especially after the use of poisonous gas during WWI.
Although the story is fictional, the types of sacrifices made are real.
Rather delightful is Maggie’s encounter with Coco Chanel, who many of us are familiar with because of her timeless perfume, Chanel #5.
Well written.
Recommended.
All of her books are worth reading and only get better with each new book.
One of the best and most exciting
As the book progressed, the action picked up to the point you didn’t want to put it down. It was a good story that was well written. Now I need to read the next book to see what happens.
not that interesting
Was preparing for a trip to Paris so it was fun to read.
I love the Margaret Hope series. I could not put them down.
I absolutely love the Maggie Hope series of books!! I have learned so much. The characters are so engaging and entertaining! I look forward to see what’s happening with each of them and have a hard time waiting for the next installment. Susan Elia MacNeil is an amazing author and does impeccable research for each and every book!! I highly recommend this and each book in the series!!
Good easy-on-the-brain historical fiction which is quite factual also. Helps you realize/appreciate what some courageous people did to help the war effort and makes you wonder if today’s generation would be as courageous (I would hope so!)
All the Maggie Hope series are equally good and interesting to read!
This book was too stressful for me, might not be for anyone else!
I would rate it as jusy ok
Another great story in the series!
Maggie Hope is no Maisie Dobbs or Mary Russell, but she’s working on things. Great potential for this character and this series.
Good story. Main character is engaging and a woman out of tune with her time; doing things that women would not be doing. Hope is clever, bright and inventive.
Great read for a WWII book. Very interesting.
Hard to know all the German and France statements since I don’t know those languages.
its nice and there is wonderful characters
