From USA Today bestselling author A.W. Hartoin comes a series perfect for the fans of Kristen Hannah’s The Nightingale, Martha Hall Kelly’s Lilac Girls, and Kit Sergeant’s The Spark of Resistance: Women Spies in WWII.On the eve of WWII, a honeymoon turns treacherous. For Stella Bled Lawrence being wealthy and stylish in 1938 is exactly what it’s cracked up to be. She’s blissfully unaware of the … unaware of the rising tensions in Europe even as she travels to Vienna on the eve of the Kristallnacht, The Night of Broken Glass. Stella and her husband, Nicky, witness the night’s atrocities first hand. Even as they watch the horror, they never imagine it will touch them personally, a pair of wealthy Americans on their honeymoon but touch them it does. In the chaotic aftermath, Stella finds passion and purpose in the form of a package with a Paris address. She promises to deliver it, not knowing what it contains or who wants it. Soon Stella must decide who and what she’s willing to sacrifice to keep a secret that has been quietly guarded for five hundred years.

I liked reading about events, even if fictional, during WWII.
Just a good book and I look forward to reading more about Stella
The Paris Package (Stella Bled book 1) is a historical adventure by A.W. Hartoin. Set in 1938 in pre World War II Europe Stella Bled and her new husband Nicholas Lawrence are on their honeymoon trip. Young and spoiled these two wealthy Americans are ill prepared for the atrocities they witness and situations they encounter in their naive belief that being ‘Americans’ would keep them from harm. Two dimensional characters start to round out as real life and danger pull out characteristics and attributes they didn’t know they had. Historically correct scenes in Switzerland, Germany and France enhance a plot that includes fantastical escapes with Good Samaritans’ assistance along the way. Protecting something precious from certain destruction lends a reason for such desperate flight. This was an enjoyable read.
Nazi Germany and Austria are scary
A little slow moving at times, but still interesting. I want to read the next book in the series.
What a romp!! Like watching an old Thin Man movie, only they weren’t Nick & Nora. Danger all around, people dying, being beaten up, being chased, and being on your honeymoon to boot. great dialog & clear discriptions of what’s happening, it was like being there.
Had a very hard time believing a woman as young as the main character could have the poise to do what she is described as doing. E.g., having flown airplanes at an even younger age, back in pre WWII days.
Kept my attention through the whole story.
I got hooked on this book early on, but near the end I was disappointed in a turn it took. But over all enjoyed it.
Rather unrealistic but interesting.
I read this book and its two sequels. I was spellbound. The author brings you right into the story in a way that I have rarely experienced.
Great character building. Story line is suspenseful and I could not put that book down. I read it fiat thing in the morning, slipped more reading in after breakfast and lunch and after dinner. I read until I fell asleep with my iPad. Great book! Great entertainment! Best reading in a long time.
Would make a great TV series!
Good story
Loved this book! It was full of intrigue, had great historical references and like-able characters. Enjoyed every minute!
Loved this book!
Thi book was entertaining. I kept reading to find out what happened next but some actions were not very credible nor well developed. Just OK.
At times I felt that the characters’ decision-making was completely unrealistic. Or maybe just unrelatable.
Easy to read and leave then come back to later and. Pick back up.
The whole series was good, but the end seemed rushed and there were ends that weren’t tied.
It was very true to past pre-WW2 events. Scary, funny and a page turner.
