An American in Paris navigates her family’s secret past and unlocks her own future, in this emotionally evocative novel by New York Times bestselling author Juliet Blackwell. As a girl, Genevieve Martin spent the happiest summer of her life in Paris, learning the delicate art of locksmithing at her uncle’s side. But since then, living back in the States, she has become more private, more subdued. … more private, more subdued. She has been an observer of life rather than an active participant, holding herself back from those around her, including her soon-to-be-ex-husband.
Paris never really left Genevieve, and, as her marriage crumbles, she finds herself faced with an incredible opportunity: return to the magical city of her youth to take over her late uncle’s shop. But as she absorbs all that Parisian culture has to offer, she realizes the city also holds secrets about her family that could change her forever, and that locked doors can protect you or imprison you, depending on which side of them you stand.

Great characters and legacy
Anyone who reads this book will be haunted by it forever!!!
What happens to the characters in it are totally amazing and will stay with you for a very, very long time. Warning! Once you start reading this book, be prepared to stay awake for a long time because you will not be able to put it down.
Good read.
I loved this book especially the well developed quirky characters, the historical background, the mystery, and the realistic romance
So, I just finished Letters from Paris and loved it so much that I jumped into The Paris Key. This book had so much potential, so many things could have happened! Yet they didn’t and I was left feeling deflated and disappointed, while there were parts I enjoyed I just couldn’t fully get into this book. It was an easy read with a family secret, a little mystery and a lot of history about Paris.
I really enjoyed this book. Felt like a visit to Paris. The characters were interesting and their stories were interesting.
Great
Set in Paris, telling both a mother’s and herdaughter’s story as they visit their brother/uncle who has married a French woman and become a locksmith there. Both American woman are using their trips to run away from something. But they find something also. The reader learns a lot about locks, the French Resistance and the catacombs under the city. As a former French teacher, it was fun and interesting to me.
The idea of the book seemed nearly perfect. How can you go wrong with Paris, an unusual occupation possibility, the chance to better understand your parent and even yourself? Yet, it was the people she meets in Paris that really caught my interest and made it a book I’ll remember.
Wanted to go to Paris. Enjoyed the detail and descriptions of Paris . Wonderful storytelling
If you love Paris, it’s Avery enjoyable tale.
Novels set in Paris are always a pleasant read,
I enjoyed this book. Very original. I’ve never read a book about a locksmith, much less set in Paris. I was looking up images of the insides of locks plus images of the gargoyles of Notre Dame. This was set in an area of Paris I had never heard of. Very entertaining.
Really loved this story. I love Paris so this was a very fun read. Good plot.
Took me back to Paris!
Now I want to go back to Paris!
If you love all things PARIS, I highly recommend this one. The Paris Key takes the reader on a journey thought Paris, France, sights, smells, food, the language, I felt like I was there again. Loved the weaving of the story of past and present.
A wonderful informative book. Learned a lot about making locks. Who knew all that??? Could hardly put the book down. I would give it 5 plus stars.
Good book. And Paris – what can I say. Author does talk about Paris sites.
