The Paper Marriage
USA Today Bestselling author
Miracles don’t happen to young widows in the last stages of pregnancy working long hours to save every penny possible for when the baby arrives. Yet that’s exactly what Lindsay Donovan believes when Luke Winters shows up late one night at the café where she works and out of the blue asks her to marry him.
The catch? It’s in name only. A piece … him.
The catch? It’s in name only. A piece of paper makes it legal, but beyond that, it’s not a match made in heaven. In fact, no sooner are they wed then the groom leaves the country for four months.
When he returns the charade escalates when he proposes Lindsay and her baby visit his dying grandfather with him, to show the old man Luke’s settled for the future. Will this paper marriage implode when family dynamics take an unexpected turn?

Marriage of Convenience….Eight months pregnant and working a second job, widowed Lindsay Donovan is surprised to see her teenage crush Luke walk into the cafe late at night. Angered by being manipulated by his family, Luke asks Lindsay to marry him. When Luke asks Lindsay to pretend to have more than a paper marriage, his family isn’t very welcoming. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Even though I read this as a paperback years ago, I enjoyed rereading it. This is a sweet and clean romance. I really like this book.
This was an enjoyable read. Lindsay was very likable and down to earth even though her circumstances in life were hard. Luke could be likable but sometimes was demanding and could come off as cold and not very understanding. But through this marriage of convenience and on paper only, they learned that they were more suited to each other than they thought even though they came from different backgrounds.
I have read quite a few of Barbara McMahon’s books and this was another winner, in my opinion. The two main characters, Lindsay and Luke, are both believable and likable. This is a marriage of convenience, but they have some history. Although, they weren’t involved romantically, Lindsay did have a crush on him. Now, she’s a pregnant widow and Luke wants a wife of his own choosing, not his mother or his grandfather. Grab your copy and see what happens, especially when Luke’s ex-fiancée reappears.

Desperate to avoid the trap set for him by his meddling grandfather and mother, Luke stumbles into the diner where Lindsay is working the late shift, full of rage and resentment against those trying to manipulate his future. Whilst Lindsay recognises him immediately as the rich kid that roughed it with them on the beach as youngsters, it takes Luke a little longer to recognise her. When he does, his surprising offer of marriage to the pregnant Lindsay takes her by surprise. A marriage of convenience to outwit an old man seems a way of meeting everyone’s needs until the need for the marriage to look real becomes essential. The story is emotive and one can only feel for Lindsay as the dynamics in the Winter household play out. The only ones to really accept her and appreciate her as a person are the servants, although they are also loyal to the family. Although one can appreciate the difficulties Luke was going through, there were times when he acted like a real ass, ignoring Lindsay’s needs and seeming to side with those who would put her down. Lindsay, on the other hand, was caught between a rock and a hard place as she needed to provide for her baby whilst at the same time escape the censure and disparagement by Luke’s family. This book definitely aroused my feelings as I felt Lindsay’s pain and discomfort. The novel does end on a good note and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a great marriage of convenience story. Luke and Lindsay are well rounded characters that eventually get their HEA. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Lindsay and Luke have a past – well they knew each other when they were teens. He is rich and she is not. Loved their “reunion” – quite comical. She is so adorable and sassy. He at first IMO was somewhat of a jerk but he grew on me. There is a villain(s) which I though Lindsay handled very well. Ellie wins everyone’s heart. There is some heat but fade to black.
It had been a while since I read a book by Ms. McMahon and was curious about this one. As always, she delivered a book worth your time.
The story centers around LIndsay Donovan and Luke Winters.
She’s pregnant and working in a cafe. He’s a wealthy man in need of a wife. When they meet at the cafe and he offers LIndsay a deal, little did either know that their lives would change forever. Especially when the situation escalades.
But what happens when the “ make believe” creates complications?
Another engaging story by this author.
