“Without a doubt my favorite series ever!” – Amazon Reviewer
Who’s the fairest of them all?
Young women from every settlement in the land are being handpicked to enter The Pageant, a contest reminiscent of Miss Universe from the old days. Gwyneth West’s social-climbing mother wants her to compete, but Gwyn isn’t so sure…The Pageant is government-sponsored. If you’re lucky enough to be chosen, … government-sponsored. If you’re lucky enough to be chosen, participation is mandatory. Aggressive competition is allowed, even encouraged.
And then there’s the prize…
Dallas Black, otherwise known as The Dark Prince, will propose to the winner. Dallas is the son of King Black, who won the last world war and governs the new settlements.
The Royal Family is mysterious. Rumor has it they don’t sleep. Rumor has it they eschew the sun. Rumor has it they’re immortal.
When Gwyn is thrust into The Pageant, she fights to survive the competitive nature of the other contestants.
But even if she wins…can she survive a vampire fiancé?

Like YA vampire romance in a season of The Bachelor. Fun, quick read!
I absolutely LOVED this book, and the whole series. I drank them up (pun intended) and finished all 5 in 1 weekend. Considering I have small children at home, that should say something about how good these books are! I love the story, loved the characters. I was really invested in them. As much as I adored Gwen and Dallas (their story is books 1-3) I loved Austin and Blake even more. (Stories 4-5). I wish there had been one extra book for Austin and Blake! A spin-off series is coming soon and I already pre-ordered the book, I can’t wait to read it! Highly recommend!
I read a few different books with the “Bachelor” style competition for the Prince’s love but this is one of the best. It is still unique in the fact that it has a supernatural twist. I greatly enjoyed it and can’t wait to continue the series!
I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. So nice to read a book without swearing and steamy sex scenes. Really enjoyed the book.
This story shares many similarities with my daughters favorite series, so not an otiginal storyline. However there were a few differences such as vampires. It was well written and kept my attention and finished the series.
A twist on the Hunger Games.
Loved it I kept reading the entire series
I loved this book. So exciting, anticipating. Such an imagination. Awesome book. I diffinatly recommend.
A little too much like the selection series, but good story and some different twists, for sure.
I absolutely loved this book. There are so many vampire novels out there and this one had a really great twist. The characters were fun and the storyline kept me wanting more. I read it in one evening and just bought book 2. Can’t wait to read it!
The main female character is good. But the main male character is much better. He is the one you can’t wait to enter the scene as it were. The other characters are a bit weak and predictable. However I enjoyed the book very much and am reading the sequel.
The characters “bonded” way too fast. The writing itself was good, but the development was rushed.
Pretty much just like the Selection series, only vampires are thrown in. I like vampires so I read it, but there wasn’t anything special enough about it to make me want to continue the series.
The closest this book gets to dystopian is the description. Aside from being forced to participate in a Cinderella type competition – with the perfect prince well enlightened beyond his years and experiences – it a fairytale. With little drama. The biggest plot twist is a mean girl being misunderstood and underestimated.
The opposite of original. This reads like a class project where the assignment was to take two books you like (The Selection + Twilight) and mash them together.
