From Jodi Picoult, one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction, comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish — and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence. Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage … children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact — leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

I have to say this is the first book in a long time that I stayed up almost all night to finish. Jodi Picoult is master at diving into the characters inner beings. Loved it from beginning to end. A page turner for sure.
Wow, sad, losses, can’t put down……..you must read!!!
Not her best but worth reading.
Starts with a jolt and keeps your attention throughout.
I enjoyed the book but I found the numerous editing errors (wrong words, wrong tense, missed words, etc) to be extremely distracting. I was reading it on a Kindle so maybe the paper version is better. It is a riveting story and written beautifully.
Jodi Picoult does not disappoint. Always contemporary issues presented in an interesting way. Love her work!
I felt like I learned something that I rather not have known. How a stressful event from childhood can follow you for a lifetime
A hard topic to read about – teenage suicide. This book handled it well and showed the impact on the many people involved. It made me both mad and sad. Would definitely recommend this book.
I couldn’t put this book down because I wanted to know how it turned out.

I have to say I would have never picked this book up if I had known what it was about…..but now that I have read it I’m glad I did…I have been there , it was a pill overdose for me after a horse broke my back and my legs have never been the same . I now am disabled and miss my great job in the medical field every day, at times I wish the pills …
Jodi created a book that I could not put down. I felt as if I was part of the story as vivid as the images that were created. She is amazing.
Another moral ethical themed book by a great writer. Jody pocult quickly draws the reader into complex situations with believable characters who are richly developed and relatable. Pocult always writes thought provoking novels and the Pact does not disappoint.
Jodi Picoult books are not easy reads as they are often about tragic and sad circumstances but she is such an incredibly good writer with an amazing way with words that you cannot help but to be drawn in. This book broke my heart but I couldn’t put it down until the end
