From Jodi Picoult, one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction, comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish — and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence. Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage … children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact — leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

OMG I don’t even know where to begin. This story is beautiful and heartbreaking. It made me want to crawl between the pages, and shake the characters until their teeth rattle, and then hug them and cry with them.
And at the end, I died a little bit.
This story will stay with me for a long time.
Highly recommended.
Excellent book!
Great Book…Sad…
Hauntingly brilliant. I couldn’t put this book down.
One of my most favorite books. I honestly couldn’t put the put down. I read it in two days! I cried throughout. Excellent book. Truly recommend it!
Gripping…..
Didn’t want to put the book down!
I like the author but there’s so many others I like better. Her writing isn’t nearly as sophisticated as Lisa See Zhang Ling etc
Love Picoult books, I have yet to read on I dislike and I have been reading her books for decades. She is a women who is unafraid of taking on hard, complicated subjects. I recommend all her books.
I love all of Jodi Picoult’s books, but The Pact was one of her best!
Not a big fan. Her books are longer than the content warrants – take too long to get where they’re going.
Unusual mystery. Jodi Picoult never lets me down.
I love how she writes about pertinent subjects, including all angles of an issue. She never preaches, leaving you to make your own decisions. Her books are perfect for a book club as they result in great discussions.
This was quite intriguing.
Jodi Picoult can do no wrong. She always adds a twist in her plot.
Parents should read this book
Excellent
This is the third book I’ve read from this author and it amazes me to think about how different each story was. Very good.
Terrifying in its own way. A true page turner.
This author writes books that leave you emotionally raw! This is another story that will haunt you long after you finish the last page!
Sad book about an unspeakable tragedy. Yet could happen to anyone. I love Jodi Picoult books.
