It all started with a pinky swear…
Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare. He’s also one of Stephanie Robson’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as she’s known him.
Beautiful, funny and an ambitious businesswoman (with one hell of an ass), Stephanie Robson is one of Linden McGregor’s best friends … McGregor’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as he’s known her.
But some relationships can’t be boxed, can’t be classified, can’t be tamed.
Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them were in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.
It sounded like fun and games at the time but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
Sex is inevitable. Friendships are tested. Hearts are on the line.
The pact is about to change everything.
Note: due to the dirty talk and sexy times, The Pact is not meant for anyone under the age of 18. All characters in THE PACT are in their thirties, therefore this is NOT a new adult book… even though love can mess you up at any age.

I loved the will-they, won’t-they. Great pacing and excellent angst. Damn good contemporary romance.
Still my favorite Halle book to date! I love this one so much and recommend it constantly!
I finished this one in a day as it is a sweet sexy fast read. It had all the elements I normally like. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes to read about. The concept of this book had such a high potential for me. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t one of my favorites. I have loved most of everything Karina Halle writes. I was bound to find one that didn’t trick my trigger. I just felt like something was missing for me. Maybe I needed more backstory between Linden and Stephanie. Maybe I needed Linden to stop saying “baby” all of the time (one of my pet peeves). I don’t know. The spark I was really looking forward to wasn’t there.

Can men and women be friends? Can friends become lovers? And how does that change the dynamics among other friends? Complicated questions for Steph and Linden in The Pact.
* audio book review *
Loved this book. This was the ultimate friends to lovers story. I was totally invested in Stephanie & Linden’s friendship. But right from the start I wanted them to be more. But of course they had their own doubts and also there are others in their way. This isn’t your typical when we are 30 lets get married story. Far from it. This is a story of the true bond of friendship. This is a story about making decisions that are for your happiness. This was a story about taking a chance. The author did an amazing job really understanding what goes through your head when you make the transition from being in your 20’s to turning 30. Can we talk about the Scottish hotness? This audio book made Linden even hotter with his accent. I highly suggest this book. But if you listen to it on audio put those head phones in because it gets steamy. You will blush. But most importantly this story with touch your heart and you’ll become addicted like I am!
The Pact weaves a perfect tale of best friends who long to be more (whether they both know it or not). Linden and Steph are likable and their journey, growing through their twenties and also growing in their feelings is beautifully written. Bonus: San Francisco is a character in this book too. You’ll fall in love with the city as much as Linden and Steph.
To date, this is my favorite book by Karina Halle. I’m not sure why, but these characters and their friends-to-lovers journey really stuck with me.
I truly felt the jealousy when either of them would date someone else, the lingering feelings, the longing. And when Linden and Steph finally came together it was like a hallelujah!
I highly recommend this book! It’s the best friends-to-lovers I’ve ever read! Dead serious!
so I found Karina Halle when I read Love in Spanish, then Love in English…this book kept popping up on Facebook at .99 during the holiday so I had to pick it up. Steph and Linden live in San Francisco she just turned 25 and they are best friends. Linden and Steph agree if neither is otherwise involved by 30 they will get married. The book moves forward each birthday whether one was involved or not with anyone up till their 29th birthdays. I loved that Linden was Scottish and totally imagined his accent in the dialog. The POV goes back and forth between Steph and Linden which I really enjoy. This is quite an amazing journey Great Read!
“She’s mad but she’s magic. There is no lie in her fire.” I read the right one. “The free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it.”
“In the end you might have all my pieces,” I tell her. “Please be gentle with them.”
Life leaves scars. Sometimes you don’t see them until later. Sometimes you don’t know where they’ve come from. Sometimes they fade before your eyes. But the world leaves its mark on us
This was a fun read. Hello Scottish hunk Linden and your dirty talk. I enjoy a good friends to lovers book, and this one didn’t disappoint. I had no big lovies for Linden’s friend James though. What an a-hole! I did wish they would’ve gotten together sooner, the book was half over. It was still a great story!
3.5/5 Stars
I liked the whole best friends making a pact to get married if their both single when they hit 30. I have heard of people doing this, so I this book definitely had me interested.
The story was good and kept me interested as Steph and Linden navigated their personal lives and dating in their mid-twenties while fighting their obvious attraction for one another. I also love a hot male character with a Scottish accent. This book was fun to read with some nice hot scenes.
I did not love this book and I did not hate it. It was a nice, interesting read. As much as I loved Linden and slowly liked Steph as she hit her thirties, I did not connect with the characters very much. I just felt like whatever happens happens. But I did like the ending a lot. It had some moments that I definitely did not expect and I enjoyed that part of the book the most.
I would definitely suggest this book. Its a nice read.
type of triangle. lovers, friends.
It was amazing. I was sad when it was over. Wanted to keep reading.
An unusual twist to a good love story
Predictable, not interesting
Great read! Definitely will check out more from this author!
I loved this book
Gratuitous rough language; it that offends, do not read.
I loved this book !!! The characters are so relatable. I normally don’t read this kind of book but I am so glad I did !
A great read with a great story line.
Very different genre for me: mafia romance. There were some parts I really liked and some that unsettled me a lot. The author is a good writer and I may read her again, but I might steer clear of mafia stuff.
