From Jodi Picoult, one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction, comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish — and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence. Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage … children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact — leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

Although a sad book, a realistic story about life in a teenager’s eyes. Also, a true story of how fragile friendships really are.
You just can’t go wrong with Jodi Picoult!
Thought provoking as are all of this author, books. Leaves me with questions.
Great book. Great story line.
Love all her books
This book reveals the difficulty of being human. I loved it.
Well-written, original story line, but oh, so sad! Had to take a break after reading. I was nearly sobbing by the end. If you’re depressed, keep this one for later!
Jodi Picoult is an amazing author and this book is no exception! Even though you know what happens, you keep turning the pages to find out why. And it really pulls you into the crazy world of teenagers.
This was my first read by this author and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The writing style is easy to follow and the story line was very engaging. It was definitely a story packed with a lot of emotions and a little heartbreaking at times, but overall a very good read and nice introduction to the author.
Excellent book. love this author. Her books are about life and the imperfections that occur while living it.
The Pact was a wonderful and haunting novel. The plot and story line were easy to read and the characters were relatable. I liked that it was realistically written and that it kept me invested from the first page. I stayed up all night to finish after starting it.
Enjoyed this book until the end. Answers to questions that kept me turning the pages never came. Felt like I didn’t know any more after finishing the book than I did when I started it.
